Chapter 174: Just this type of guy

" Don’t order my serving your majesty," said Yakov looking a bit out of place while looking at the lamb chops that were being prepared on the stall. It wasn’t that he was trying to be rude but when was the last time he ate something off the streets? As far as he knew, he never ate anything like this—— from the streets, not prepared with the slightest bit of cleanliness and the stall owner wasn’t even wearing gloves. Though he knew that with the anti-dirt mana stone sitting at the end of the stall glowing faintly the food prepared here was safe to eat but being the heir of the Sceptre family, he was only used to the finest dishes which were carefully prepared with gloves and everything.

Bree rolled her eyes before turning to look at the seller and repeated the same order as before, when he tried to stop her, she simply turned her head and looked at him with a cheeky smile. " Why are you worried? If you don’t want to eat then don’t eat it. I will eat everything on my own. The chops look delicious enough for me to gobble them all."

Before Yakov had the chance to tell her that she shouldn’t eat so much of something like this, the seller raised his head and grinned at Bree with a bright smile. " Right you are missy, we have been selling this recipe for more than forty years. My forefathers were the ones who came up with it and we have continued their legacy, I promise that after you have a bite of this, you will certainly come looking for us again."

" Is that so, then would you mind giving me an extra serving?" Bree was immediately impressed by the sweet talk of the seller and Yakov didn’t even get the time to tell her that she shouldn’t listen to the seller’s words so easily. People like him were nothing but crooks taking advantage of tourists to make an easy earning but before he could say anything Bree was already chatting up with the stall owner asking him about where he came from and what kind of life he has lived. Somewhere in between she even tried to pry the information about the recipe but the stall owner was smart and never gave away anything.

" You didn’t have to try so hard to get the secret ingredients," said Yakov as he watched Bree stride to an empty table and take a seat with her extra large servings of the chops. " I bet there is nothing good in it."

" Maybe," said Bree as she picked up a piece and then took a bite of it, seeing this Yakov tried to stop her but it was already too late. Bree chewed the tenderised meat and then covered her mouth with her eyes popping.

What was it? Did the stall seller add something to this when they weren’t looking? How dare he! Yakov unsheathed his claws and turned around swearing that he will bring the man down with one sweep of his claws when he was suddenly stopped by Bree who caught hold of his arm and then looked at him with shining eyes before moaning. " This is so good! It’s not dry at all and the flavours have blended into the meat so tantalising! I can’t believe that it’s really this good!"

Only then did Yakov’s heart drop back to his chest from his throat and he sat down on the chair. His throat was parched but he didn’t dare take a sip from the glass that was sitting in front of him, who knows how many people might have touched it before him?

" You should take a bite of this too." Bree pushed the plate that she hasn’t touched in front of him. " This isn’t as bad as you think, you will surely like it if you take a bite. Go one have a taste."

Yakov stared at the oily delight that Bree said tasted amazing and then grunted. "It’s alL right, your majesty. I am not used to this kind of food, so if I don’t try it I will still be all right."

" Ohh but please." She waited for him to make a move and pick up a chop when he didn’t she rolled her eyes. " You don’t like lamb chops?"

" I don’t like anything that has been prepared without proper care and what’s more it’s unhealthy no matter how appetising it looks."

" Is that bad?"

"It’s not bad, you can eat it if you like it your majesty but this is not what I am used to." He cleared his throat when he saw Bree raise a brow at him, was talking to her always this uncomfortable? No, now that he carefully thought about it they haven’t talked at all ever since they got married. Bree only came to his room to do the deed when it was his turn and would leave after they were done. Her back cold and detached as ever. " I have always eaten food that’s less oily and has been prepared by renowned chefs, this is not something that I am used to."

Bree studied him in the same inquisitive way, her gaze skimmed over his face and those red lips pursed in a pout like she was trying to solve a difficult puzzle in front of her. He wished that she didn’t look at him with those eyes because everything she looked at him with those inquisitive eyes something inside him would flare up, her gaze has always been cold and unbothered like she couldn’t care less about him.

This sudden interest of hers made his throat parched and his pants a bit tight.

" You really didn’t eat anything off the streets?"

" No, I don’t think that the food on the streets is fit to be eaten at all." He pushed his glasses up his nose and carefully answered Bree. " There was one time I heard that someone was selling pork roast and didn’t manage to clean the meat carefully, what’s more, they used meat that was days old... it tasted good so many people didn’t realise and ate it, only to be infected. Later on, many people died because of it."
