Chapter 171: Give me a reason

Bree stared at the man in front of her, he not only took his clothes off casually, he even lay down on the bed without moving an inch. It was quite clear that he was going to sleep on the bed tonight, then what was she supposed to do?

" Your majesty?" Yakov opened one of his eyes and then looked at Bree. " Aren’t you going to come over and sleep, your majesty?"

Like hell she will get any sleep with him sleeping next to her, she looked around and then found a couch that was sitting in the middle of the room, though it looked a bit uncomfortable, she would rather sleep on the couch rather than an almost naked man! So, Bree took off the jacket that she was wearing and then took off her shoes before lying down on the couch. If Yakov wasn’t going to move then she might as well move to somewhere else!

Yakov saw her actions and then sighed before getting up from the bed, his moves were not light and Bree was able to hear everything with her sensitive hearing, as he slowly approached her, she closed her eyes and then turned away to the opposite side but as the couch creaked and an arm wrapped around her waist, she freaked out when she has suddenly pulled away from the couch and was settled on something hard and rough like the crook of a man’s shoulder.

" You..what are you doing?" What was this? What in the world was he doing? Bree kicked and punched Yakov but the latter remained unmoved as he placed her on the bed and then shackled her within his arms.

" What do you think I am doing your majesty?" He asked with his face hovering on top of her. " Instead of asking me what I am doing, you should be telling me what you are doing?"

" What...what did I do?" Bree was simply speechless by his actions, she turned her face away from his and then hurriedly said, " Didn’t I say that you and the others consort are supposed to stay away from me? So why are you being so close to me?"

Yakov cupped her chin and turned her face such that he was looking at her and said, " You did say that I was supposed to stay away from you, your majesty. But I never said that I agreed to your will, we are legally married and I am not only your first husband but your legal husband, if you don’t give birth to a child of any other consort then I am in line to become the Emperor next to you...so, why do I need to stay away from my wife?"

" I am your Empress!"

" And you are my wife behind closed doors, your majesty." Yakov smiled cheekily as he dipped his head down and then looked at her with a slightly different glint in his eyes as he said, " So, tell me your majesty...why is it that I..who has been inside you for so many times, made you cry in delight... can no longer touch what’s mine? If you give me a good reason then I will back off and not touch you until you are prepared."

" Do I need a reason to stay away from you?" Bree shot back, her eyes flashing with determination. " I just want to live a long life, there is no need to complicate by letting you guys in... who knows when you might kill me."

Yakov smiled as he pushed himself off Bree and said, " As long as you don’t let any other man touch you, there is no need for you to worry about something like this your majesty. Though I can’t say that I love you ..but I do adore you a lot ... I will never harm you without a reason."

She didn’t believe a thing that he said but a question that has been burning in her mind ever since the funeral suddenly popped up and she turned her head to look at Yakov. He had his eyes closed and his breathing was evened out as if he was really sleeping but Bree knew that he was up, so she turned to face him and poked him in the arm as she said, "Earlier in the morning you said that if someone’s true mate dies then they will surely follow them after losing the will to live... but you were willing to kill me. So——"

" If I really killed you, your majesty then I would have followed after you for sure," said Yakov, his eyes still closed. " Not immediately, I would have appointed a new heir to the throne, a capable one at that and set the things right in the Empire, lest you leave nothing but a bunch of mess behind you. Only then would I have closed my eyes and chased after you in the afterlife."

But the four men stayed alive in the book till the very end!

" But what if you are alive ... I mean what if you make it out alive and find someone else to move on with?" She asked hurriedly as she looked at Yakov who suddenly opened his eyes.

Under the moonlight, his amber eyes glowed differently as he calmly said, " If there is a situation where you are not alive and I am then it means you are alive somewhere your majesty... because I do not have any wish to live without my true mate."

After saying this, he closed his eyes and then turned to the opposite eyes leaving a very speechless and burning with curiosity Bree. What did he mean by that if he was alive after she was gone then it meant that she was alive somewhere?

" Hey, Yakov what did you mean by that? Hey! I know you are not asleep, so tell me——" she continued to poke Yakov at the back when the latter finally turned around and looked over his shoulder and answered hoarsely, " If you don’t want to sleep I have something else in mind to keep awake all night your majesty, would you like to try it?"

" I think I am sleepy."

" Goodnight, your majesty."
