Yakov knew that he was going to die, the mountain golem despite its ugly appearance was smarter than he thought. As he looked at the big stone palm that was heading in his direction, he understood that today he might die watching all his plans fall right in front of him. But he didn’t want to die—— not so easily at least, he wanted to fight and if he was going to go down today then he wanted to take this beast down with him, there was no way he was going to let this thing go just like that.

And what was more there was Bree ...if he was to die today then doesn’t it mean that those bastards will have a good time taking advantage of his absence? There was no way, he was going to become nothing but a forgotten name for Bree. It was as if a flame that has been flickering inside his chest reawakened, with a loud roar that was strong enough to split a big boulder, Yakov dodged the hand that was aiming at his way, however just as he thought that he was out of the grasp of the mountain golem, he felt something gripping his hind paw, stunned he looked back only to see that a tree root was actually popping out of the mountain golem was wrapped around his legs.

This crazy——

He didn’t get a chance to curse the mountain golem because a second later he felt something hot and blistering flash past him and then, piles of molten boulders came toppling down as if he was under a landslide. But Yakov didn’t stop to think about what was happening, he used his quick agility and dodged all the boulders that were falling down from the sky, only when he was at a safe distance did he look back at the person standing behind the mountain golem.

The wolf’s eyes widened and so did the knights, as they all looked at the woman with several scales popping on her skin with golden magma flowing through the cracks of the scales. Her slitted eyes were staring at the ground while smoke blew out of her mouth as she huffed and puffed heavily.

"It’s the Queen!"

" Her majesty is here!"

The knights all cheered when they saw Bree standing in front of the mountain golem, they knew that with the strength of the Dragon Queen it wouldn’t take long for her to take this beast down but why was she in a half-humanoid form?

When a shifter could only partial shift with only a part of their beastly side showing, it was called Half humanoid form. It only happened to new shifters who weren’t in equilibrium with their beasts but that wasn’t the case for the Dragon Queen wasn’t it? She was a full-fledged shifter and the strongest one at that!

" Vice commander why is the Queen in her half humanoid form?" one of the soldiers couldn’t help but ask as he looked at Bree, with scales covering her entire body.

Darren shifted back and picked up his clothes, he knew that with the Dragon Queen coming to save the day he didn’t have to worry about the mountain golem anymore. He was pulling his pants on when he heard the quixotic question of the knight and snapped, " What do you know? Her majesty doesn’t need to shift completely to take that thing down."

The knights all looked at their vice commander and went ’oh I see.’

But Yakov on the other hand was worried about Bree, he hurriedly shifted back and pulled his clothes on as he looked at his wife. He knew it better than anyone else as to why Bree was in her half-humanoid form, it was because she was still recovering from all the alcohol and whatnot she has drowned while she was running that so-called test. Dragons were the symbol of purity, things that aren’t safe for consumption or activities that were frowned upon were something that the dragon shifters needed to take proper care of, in case they were to indulge themselves then ... it will take a long time for them to recover.

The reason Bree could only shift partially was this, she has overly indulged herself for a few months and even if she was now back to being normal, it couldn’t change the fact that she has been indulging herself far too long in debauchery.

Though he blamed her for doing something so oddly ugly, his heart couldn’t help but warm up seeing her stand in front of the mountain golem. She shifted ... for him ... she could have of course turned a blind eye to everything as she always has but this time she didn’t let anyone bully him, nor did she leave him alone to take care of the entire thing alone. This was something that he was truly glad for.

The only person who wasn’t glad was Harley, she hid with the rest of the omegas but contrary to their relaxed and happy expression she looked like she was going to die at any moment. She stared at the big mountain of a monster and inwardly hissed, ’what are you waiting for? Stomp on her! Stomp her to death!’

Maybe the mountain golem did understand the words of his master because a second later he raised his feet and aimed it right at Bree!

" Brianna!" Yakov for the first time in his life felt true fear, after so many years he finally got a bit of happiness that he has never experienced while being mated to Bree, so how can he be not afraid when he saw that thing raising its leg to crush his mate? He unsheathed his claws and rushed at the golem, feeling angrier than ever for not being able to shift, after using his powers for so long his mana was almost extinguished. Even if he was to forcefully shift he wouldn’t be able to do much.

Bree on the other hand didn’t share the same fear as Yakov, with Saphira pressing against her skin, she raised the sword in her hand and slightly turned the sharper side towards the mountain golem as she breathed in and out after closing her eyes and when she opened those golden eyes they flashed with a dark red glint as the last bit of control that Bree had over her body vanished, Saphira roared breaking through surface enough for her to swiftly take a proper stance as she muttered " dracae dei."

Flames burst through the sword as she swung it on the ground and then everyone surrounding Bree realised what exactly meant to face the wrath of a dragon. A huge arc of blazing flames that almost touched the high heavens erupted out of the sword that Bree was holding, the flames so bright that they lit up the entire surrounding with a reddish hue, making it look as if an explosion has taken place.

Yakov covered his eyes followed by others as they didn’t want to see the wrath of their Goddess, worried that they will be blinded with just the mere glimpse of the strength of a true dragon.

When the light finally faded from the area, they all uncovered their eyes and watched the aftermath. Somewhere someone gasped, who? No one knew because all they knew was that their mouths were already dropped in amazement —— the mountain golem that has been causing them trouble for more than an hour was now a blob of nothing but dust and melting rocks, it was nothing but evidence of the sheer strength that the Dragon Queen wielded in her hands.

" Woah, this is...crazy," though Darren expected something of the sort but as he looked at the mountain golem that lost its life and shook his head before stumbling on the ground as he stared at the molten and frothing blob. " She is freaking crazy..." was there any need for the Dragon Queen to even have a bunch of knights? She can swipe an entire country clean with a flick of her sword!

With such a display of strength no one dared to get close to the Queen but Yakov, the real daredevil rushed straight toward Bree. "Bri... Your majesty are you okay?" In his anxiousness he almost called Bree by her full name but when he saw that she wasn’t answering while smoking like a piece of coal that has been doused with water, he hurriedly reached to get hold of her but as soon as he touched her skin, a sharp hiss escaped his lips —— Bree wasn’t just smoking like a piece of coal, she was burning like one as well!

" That child..." with her voice slightly hoarse she turned to look at Yakov and said with a dignified air, " Give him a proper burial, with all the rituals and everything performed. And make sure to choose a proper and very serene place for his rest...he died while protecting his Queen, do not slight him, promise me."

Yakov stared at the eyes that were dyed red and knew that it was Saphira speaking so he hurriedly bowed his head and said, " I promise your majesty."

"Good," and that was when Bree’s eyes closed.
