Chapter 121: Find out what happened to Queen

" The Queen refused to see me?" Yakov glared a hole at the top of Dion’s head as if he was wishing to see why exactly the queen refused to see him despite him coming to see her, this was something that he hasn’t expected. Though she was still holding him at a distance it was better than before at least she was talking to him every now and then, they were even getting along well together so why was it that all of a sudden that she was refusing to see him?

His wolf pressed against his surface, he could smell the scent of his mate and be furious upon not being able to see her. His wolf was simply a metaphysical existence and he didn’t understand why they couldn’t see their mate when they wanted to, with a low guttural snarl, he swiped his claw at Yakov’s guts egging him to let go of the formalities and just walk right in the office after taking care of the man who was stopping them from seeing what was theirs to hold and keep.

Yakov had to say that his wolf was right, they were mates and there shouldn’t be something as ’protocols’ between them but here he was standing outside her office wanting an answer from the Queen but she wasn’t even willing to see him!

Sucking in a breath he looked at Dion and asked carefully, " Why is she not willing to see me? Is there something that I should know?"

Dion lowered his head in submission there was nothing that he could say to the first consort, what happened in the streets was something that was between the Queen and the fourth consort telling him about what happened there would be him crossing the line so he lowered his head and answered after much thought, " The Queen is busy first consort. Since the two of you are leaving on a trip very soon, the Queen needs to finish her work and make sure that no trouble whatsoever takes place in the palace in her absence."

" Hah," Yakov laughed out in disbelief before chuckling softly and then peering right back at Dion as he asked, " Is she willing to go with me, then? I was afraid that I have to send someone else in my place, just like always."

" Of course not first consort, there is no need for you to worry about it, the Queen said that she will be leaving with you in a day and she will definitely keep her words," Dion hurriedly explained. " But——"

" Of course, there is a but," said Yakov puffing out a breath, as he crossed his hands behind his back. " Then what is this but about, please carefully elaborate for me, Sir Dion."

The pressure that Yakov pushed on to Dion with his dominant vibes was strong enough to cause him to shudder but somehow, Dion managed to force himself to stand up and smile at the man in front of him. " The Queen asked me to tell you that there is no need for you to disturb yourself by coming to see him, all you need is to send Aileen when there is something that you wanted to tell her about, other than that, she also asked you to take care of yourself, since you get sick in a carriage."

" Sir Dion," Yakov leaned his face closer to Dion and smiled politely before saying, " I know that the Queen didn’t say the last line, you don’t have to push yourself like that."

Though his wolf was pushing him to force his way inside the office, Yakov ignored his instinctive reactions and turned around to leave with a smile that was as dangerous as a wolf’s howl. " I will not disturb the Queen for the rest of the day, ask her to take plenty of rest and do not push herself too much, even if she leaves a few documents unattended she can always dump them on the second consort, after all when we are not here, he is the one who is in charge of the palace."

" I understand, first consort," Dion lowered his head submissively, though he was part dominant, his strength was nowhere equal to a real dominant male. Yakov might be acting like he wasn’t angry or bothered by the order Bree gave out but his alpha vibes that were literally pouring out of his body made Dion suck in a breath and hold it in.

Yakov gave the wooden door of Bree’s office once the last glance before he turned his head and walked away with his long robe billowing behind him, once he was gone Dion felt like a boulder has been lifted off his shoulders and he nearly stumbled back on the ground if not for the guards who rushed to hold him up, he would have really went pliant on the floor.

" Sir Dion, are you okay?" One of the guards who was holding Dion up by clutching his underarm asked carefully. " That was scary wasn’t it?"

" You are right, it was so scary that I am almost on the verge of throwing everything up," Dion somehow managed to get steady on his footing before he shrugged off the vibes that were still pressing down on him. Seriously, it wasn’t as if he was the one who was stopping Yakov from seeing the Queen.

It was the Queen who didn’t want to see the first consort and there was practically nothing he could do about it.

Yakov strolled out of the Dragon palace, a fire burning inside him furiously. Again, she was doing it, holding him at a distance and refusing to see him without even explaining why she didn’t want to see him, was it too hard for her to tell him what was going on in her head? It wasn’t as if he was going to refuse to listen to her. But that was how the Queen was, she would never show any weakness to them and honestly, Yakov didn’t want her to show her weakness either but that was till the point where she didn’t become a weakness for him.

" Master, are you all right," though his eyes were closed, Aileen could still sense that his master was furious with something. After working for the Sceptre family, Aileen could easily figure out the mood of his master through the sound of his footsteps, unlike his idiot brother who couldn’t understand the mood swings of his pyromaniac master.

" She refused to see me," Yakov strode inside his room and immediately walked towards the bookshelf where he picked out a book and started to skim through it, in an attempt to ignore the anger that was burning inside him. Books helped him calm down and made his mind get back on track but at that very moment, all Yakov could think about was the Queen ignoring him like he was some sort of cockroach that needed to be avoided. The more he tried to focus the angrier he got in the end, Yakov slammed the book on the tabletop and sniggered mockingly, " She refused to see me, said that she was too busy and didn’t want to disturb me anymore, asked me to send you in case there was something that I wanted to talk about, can you believe it?"

The silence was golden this was something that Aileen learned long ago, therefore he pursed his lips and said nothing while his master was angrily spouting one thing after another.

Yakov too realised that he lost control and sucked in a breath before he turned to look at Aileen and said, " Go and find out what happened to the Queen today, I want to see what or who made her so upset that she refused to see me, her husband. Go."

" Yes, master," Aileen bowed to Yakov before he rushed out of the room leaving a very furious Yakov behind. He knew that if he didn’t go to check out what was wrong with the Queen, his master would go himself, for him the Queen was more important than anything else. For the sake of others, he has to find out what went wrong with the Queen or his master would once again come up with another shrewd plan to make things difficult for others and himself.

Yakov stared at Aileen’s vanishing back and then turned to look at the moon that was shining behind him through the large window pane. Eyes flashing wolf, he sneered coldly, " If you believe that you can just wash your hands off me like that then you are still just as naive as ever my Queen."

Aileen didn’t have to look around a lot, he just needed to sort out the driver who drove the Queen downtown. Something that he did with apparent ease—— the stables were located outside the palace for the sake of avoiding any unwanted scents to waft inside, with shifter senses it was easy for the residents of the palace to smell the disgusting scent of manure if the stable was to be located inside.

" Mr Collins?" Walking towards a man who was humming a merry tune, Aileen suddenly called out causing the man to jump high in the air.

Mr Collins whirled around to look at Aileen and stuttered, " I...I didn’t do anything...so, why are you here Sir Aileen?"

With a light smile Aileen pulled out his sword and aimed it right at the throat of the man and said, " From now, you will answer my questions honestly, because if you don’t then I will have your head. I believe it will look nice on a plaque in my showcase."
