" Grandmother calm down," when the water started to slosh out of the pool, Cian couldn’t help but remind his grandmother to calm down, with her losing control, he could almost imagine what was going on in the Bellion Empire, worried that the hard work of his father would go down a whirlpool he immediately stopped Cordelia from using her powers a bit too much.

Cordelia glanced at the water that was frothing in the pond and calmed down after inhaling a deep breath. " Anyway your brother cannot deal with this dark mage alone but he wishes he can do so, I am afraid that if I were to leave him alone, he will not only bring tragedy upon himself but also the Bellion Empire. That is why I implore you to take my advice and look for the dark mage for I do not wish to see any more killings of my children."

" I understand," said Cian fully understanding the gravity of the situation.

He and his grandmother talked for a few more minutes before he took his leave. Cian then headed back to his palace, his expression sombre, he didn’t tell his grandmother that someone tried to kidnap him last night as well and after talking with his grandmother, he was more or less ascertained that last night’s attack had less to do with him being the Queen’s consort and more to do with him being a Siren.

With blood that can be used to make the deadliest poison.

" Are you even listening to me your majesty?" asked Dion as he placed his hands flat on the table as he looked at Bree with an annoyed expression.

Snapping out of her thoughts, Bree blinked at her aide. " No, I am sorry, I drifted off a little bit."

Straightening up, Dion rolled his eyes. " Well, I certainly do know that your majesty, because amidst the discussion of Duke Cilantro and the sudden visit of the heir of the Bellion Empire, I asked you if you ever want to have a make-out session with an ogre and you actually nodded your head in agreement."

Bree snorted with laughter spilling out of her mouth. Now that she was no longer the same Dragon Queen, Dion was a lot more relaxed and joked around a bit too much but she knew that her aide like every other consorts of her was hiding his calculative nature underneath that easygoing and happy to help attitude of his. If not, he wouldn’t have lasted so long with the Dragon Queen. She has seen Dion go against Xander, and not to her surprise has seen him come out as the winner.

He was as cunning as they came and if possible he can also lead the angels in heaven to rebellion.

Lifting the documents that Dion has set down on her table, Bree took a glance at them. " I zoned out something that happens to everyone once in a while. Anyway, I did hear everything that you have to say, you found bodies of three merfolks on the southern island, it’s what you were saying were you not?"

" Yes," said Dion with a clipped voice, lowering his head to read the report that he has received from the guards who patrolled the sea and the islands that surrounded the Dragniere Empire. " Their bodies were found lying on the soul, from the autopsy report, it was said that they were sucked dry of blood and their tear glands were taken out as well. There were signs of physical assault but only minor."

Then he set the report down and let Bree take a look at it, as she read through the report, Bree felt shock slam into her, making her thoughts go blank for just one moment. Saphira let out an indignant roar inside her head ——- she was extremely upset that someone has attacked the citizens under her care. " When did the guards find the corpses?"

" Last night, someone has dumped the three bodies on the shore for a night and two days," reported Dion at once. " The corpses were badly deteriorated but that’s what happens when merfolks are taken out of their living habitat."

He paused and then nervously tugged at the seams of his shirt with his hands clasped in front. " This is not a good sign, your majesty. The last time something like this happened was when——"

" When Leon’s supporters were in an uproar." Bree had read about this in the book, it was mentioned that Leon and his supporters murdered the innocent and the rare creatures to perform black magic and use their sacrificial blood to strengthen their powers.

" Exactly, your majesty," said Dion with a frown that was more like a nervous scowl. " I am afraid that things aren’t as simple as they look."

No, they weren’t. Three merfolks were kidnapped and even killed, such a thing cannot be taken lightly. " What did the Bellion Empire have to say about this? The southern islands come under their territory, right?"

Dion’s expression turned serious upon her question. " Sir Orman refused to accept that the bodies belonged to the citizen of his empire, he said that they must be from the neighbouring Empire that’s not under our control but your majesty, Sir Orman didn’t know that when the guards found the three bodies they held the insignia of the Bellion Empire."

Bree’s face turned serious after she finished listening to Dion. If Orman refused to accept the three corpses then it can only mean one thing—— he was trying to hide the matter of these creatures getting killed from the Dragniere Empire!

Her eyes flashed before she carefully pondered the matter before speaking, " First go, and secretly find the families of those merfolks, they died an unjustified death, being buried by their family and in their beloved land is what they deserve. Neither Orman nor anyone else can refuse them this right and——"

She stood up from the chair, kicking it back slightly. " I think I need to have a small chat with Cian."
