The Devil's Warrior Queen -
Chapter 95: Whispers
Chapter 95: Whispers
Rama kept shut as she pressed her lips in a thin line, as much as her curiosity engulfed her, she knew better than to press on the dark secrets surrounding Draco’s world.
She wondered what they were all hushed up about and the dire consequences of reminding Draco of it, what was so significant and dark in Draco’s life that even the air feared to whisper? She pondered inwardly.
Amidst the soothing silence they enjoyed in each other’s company, Damien rang a maid to bring in tea. She couldn’t resist the smell of hot chocolate as she took a sip, while relishing in the serenity of nature she might not be fortunate to relish in again.
She gazed at the unblemished blue skies with dancing clouds before it darted on the ivy intertwining into the rails. A small beautiful shrub of varying flowers were seated at the side, enacting it’s beauty while sating the air with the scent of flowers.
She sighed in exasperation as she processed Damien’s words into her head. She stared blankly into space as she realised that nothing seemed to stun her anymore. Her life had taken an unprecedented turn after being taken captive, only the worst had been her expectations since then.
Normalcy was all she yearned for now, even though she was certain of it being inconceivable. She deserved waking up to a day of normalcy and living the rest of her life without paranormal crisis.
Inwardly, she chuckled as she realised she and Malika had switched sides. Malika now yearned for a life beyond normal, while she now yearned for normal, but she knew better than anyone, that she was trapped in the world of the paranormal. A never ending twist of darkness and enigma.
She yearned for normalcy, yes, but deep down, her distant heart yearned for something desirous.
Rama suddenly remembered she had forgotten to query Damien on something. She whipped her head to face him and their gazes locked momentarily. She cringed a bit, realising he had been staring all along....like a creep.
Although, she had caught him staring, his gaze was still fixated on her, making her hesitate as she spluttered her question out "D-Do you have any idea why the demons would murder the seers?"
He tilted his head to the side thoughtfully as he rubbed his smooth chin. The realization suddenly hit her that she had never seen a night creature with facial hair, how weird, she thought inwardly as she focused on his lack of facial hair rather than his response.
"They didn’t spill, but one thing is for sure. They’re hiding something and the fact that Lucifer ordered the massacre undoubtedly proves it." Damien said, while staring into space as if the answer lied in an invisible board in front of them.
"If he’s hiding something from us, it could be treacherous. You should convince Draco to speak to his father and find out what he’s scheming, don’t you think?" Rama said in wary, dread lingering in her tone.
"You easily address the king without his title." Damien stated out blatantly, leaving Rama speechless. Not much thought had been pressed on it, but she had familiarized herself with his name rather than his kingly title.
"Anyways, it doesn’t work that way. You don’t ask the devil to tell you what he’s scheming and expect him to do it, do you? He’s a trickster and a dangerous liar." Damien asked rhetorically with a scoff.
"So what then? We just wait until something bad happens?" Rama said in a flat tone, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Don’t worry love, at dinner we’ll be able to gather one or two information to solve a piece of the puzzle, not to forget the witches, we’ll be taking care of them soon." Damien said with a stoic countenance, as his crimson eyes glinted sternly.
The witches had almost crossed her mind, they needed to be taken care of too, considering the fact they were turning vampires into strange creatures elicited from dark magic and a fragment of the devil’s powers.
But she wondered how the witches would help them gain information on the devil’s tricky schemes.
Damien abruptly shot up from his seat as a charming smile grazed his lips. He took her hand inti his and kissed her knuckles before saying "I apologise, but I have something to attend to, I’ll be back so for the dinner in the castle tonight."
She gave him a smile and nodded in response "It’s fine." . He exited the balcony and she watched him fade from her sight. Her smile immediately dropped as unease watched over her countenance.
She couldn’t help but imagine only the worst feasible outcome after he spilled the truth of what their true nature was. With the Devil and his minions occupying one half of her thoughts and Draco, occupying the other, she was sure to go insane.
A dragged sigh escaped her lips as she leaned back on the chair, fingers running through her hair in exasperation before gulping down the tea.
She exited the balcony as she decided to take a nap before Damien would arrive from his destination for them to attend the unnerving dinner with his family.
As she walked through the main hall to her room, she couldn’t help but think about her marriage with Damien through. True, he was different and all, but he was still a demon nevertheless, his father was Leviathan, the demon of envy, no doubt her life would change if they wedded.
Her shoulders dropped in frustration as pessimistic thoughts crammed her head. She barely knew nothing regarding the ways of demons, not that she needed to since they would live differently from them, but she was being rather cautious minded.
The thought of giving birth to a demon baby made her skin go cold, but she reasoned she could mold him or her into a polished person like Damien.
Lost in her wave of thoughts as she walked, she bumped into someone. Startled, she broke out of her thoughts and looked up to see Malika’s wide and confused amber eyes staring at her in worry.
"Are you alright, Rama?" Malika asked and Rama nodded stiffly.
She wondered how Malika would handle the news of demons being weaved into their lives and the knowledge of Damien and Draaco being one, along with her fated lover.
"I have to tell you something, you deserve to know the truth as well." Rama said in a serious expression, which made Malika uneasy, but she nodded and led her to her room which was a few walks away.
Her room was designed in almost a replica of the same pattern and size as hers, only the colours contrasted as Malika’s room varied with a shade of bright colours and the ambiance was rather light and homely, making her reminisce her past.
They both took a seat on the plush chair, the air grew silence with unaanticipated silence as Malika waited eagerly for Rama to share a piece of her mind.
Rama narrated the ordeal with the seers and the problematic situations concerning Draco, excluding the insignificant pieces of their intimate encounters while she spoke, she was too stricken with embarrassment to reveal to anyone, even Malika.
Finally, she dropped the bombshell on the girl whose face was etched with confusion as she processed the narration into her head with focus.
Malika’s eyes dilated when Rama was finally done speaking, but she didn’t seem too shocked, at least not shocked enough to want to let go of whatever feelings she harboured for the demon.
"So you’re saying the seers gave you a prophecy and you think it is somehow connected to Draco?" Malika queried and Rama nodded fervently.
"I hope it’s not." Rama muttered under her breath.
"Maybe..." Malika trailed off, biting down her lower lip but Rama was too lost in thoughts to notice.
"Aren’t you shocked about the news of them being demons?" Rama queried, casting her a skeptical glance as she tilted her head.
"You don’t look so shocked either." Malika pointed out and a giggle erupted from the two girls to sate the air.
"I don’t care if I fall in love with the devil, as long as that devil’s love burns like the eternal flames in hell. It would never snuff out because it’s eternal." Malika said thoughtfully, each word rolling off her lip mindlessly.
Rama was a bit stunned at her choice of words, she wasn’t changing, she was evolving into a confident woman who knew exactly the man she wanted and would get nevertheless. She was impressed.
Meanwhile, Malika was a bit sad she hadn’t seen him, making each day pass with a hassle as she closed her eyes every night to flood her head with illusions of him.
Her mood suddenly brightened as she bounced on the chair delightfully while turning to face Rama, golden eyes gleaming like the sun as she stared into hers.
"Can I come along to have dinner in the castle with you and lord Damien? Or wait, I don’t even have to have dinner too, I’ll just wait inside the castle, can I come please?" Malika pleaded.
Rama grinned sheepishly. Although, it was surprising for Malika to fall for a demon, it wasn’t surprising for her to fall deeply in love, as she loved with every bit of her heart and fragment of her soul.
"If catching a glimpse of that stoic bastard makes you happy, then yes of course." Rama said and Malika squealed in excitement as she pulled her into a swift embrace, chanting thank you in her ears.
Rama had to watch Malika try on different beautiful gowns she would wear to the dinner, excitement visible on her face as her cheeks flushed red, which made Rama wonder if anyone could ever make her that excited.
