Chapter 387: Cravings
Chapter 387: Cravings
It had been a quiet week after Zoya had left, but as the second week neared with every ticking second, Rama became even more anxious about Zoya’s whereabouts and progress.
At the same time, she became even more aware of Malika’s growing bulge. She was extremely excited for her, but at the same time, concerned about what her fate held in store for her.
Not that it was significant to mention, but she also felt a growing pang of jealousy within her. It was rather ludicrous for her to care about such frivolous things especially when Malika was at the verge of losing her life, either at the hands of Draco or the dark entity.
Meanwhile, Rama was busy counting down the days until Zoya would return. It had been a week and three days since she had left and Rama couldn’t help but tense at the expectations.
It was in the middle of the night, the castle was still as busy as it always was in the daytime, after all, they were vampires. Draco and Zamiel on the other hand had gone out for their usual night watch.
Despite the fact that the ghoul hadn’t attacked in days, they still kept an eye out in case.
Lately, she had been finding it hard to sleep, presumably because of her constant worries and fear, but then, with the lack of sleep came a constant thirst for blood that gnawed at her insides. At first, it started out as just a pang of thirst and with time, it grew extensively to the extent she had almost sucked the maids dry in more occasions than she could count.
Fortunately, Draco offered himself constantly for her to feed from, but it never seemed enough, she always wanted more. Perhaps, it was all just stress and overthinking. She tried to calm her tensed mind down, but it only worsened.
As she walked down the corridor, she could feel her fangs growing inches longer, her throat felt parched and a growing hunger slowly are through her insides.
She told herself she was only taking a stroll to ease her stress and calm her mind, but deep down, she was scouring the dark, empty corridors for a prey unfortunate enough to cross paths with her.
A primal urge suddenly overcame her as her hunger intensified. During the whirlpool of her strange hunger phase, she had been able to control it in those past few days, but now, it felt uncontrollable, almost an untamed type of hunger, making her scared of herself because she knew she could hurt someone or in the worst case, murder someone.
But at that moment, she was too overwhelmed with hunger for her to reason in a logical sense anymore.
Rama prowled the dark corridors with an insatiable hunger gnawing at her insides. Her crimson lips were drawn back in a feral snarl, revealing gleaming fangs that glistened in the faint moonlight filtering through the stained glass windows. With each step she took, the echoes of her footfalls reverberated off the cold stone walls, filling the air with a sense of foreboding.
Unbeknownst to Rama, a strange sensation had been stirring within her for weeks now, an inexplicable restlessness that seemed to consume her whole being. At first, she had dismissed it as nothing more than the usual cravings of a vampire, the primal urge to feed on the blood of the living. But as the days passed, the feelings had only grown stronger, manifesting in ways she could not ignore.
Tonight, as she wandered the corridors of her castle in search of prey, Rama felt a peculiar sensation stirring in the pit of her stomach, a strange fluttering that seemed to dance beneath her skin. It was a sensation unlike anything she had ever experienced before, a primal instinct that drove her forward with a sense of urgency she could not ignore.
With each passing moment, the craving for blood grew stronger, an all-consuming hunger that threatened to consume her whole. It was as if a fire burned within her veins, driving her to seek out the sweet taste of fresh blood to quench her burning thirst.
As she rounded a corner, Rama’s keen senses caught the faint sound of footsteps echoing through the darkness. A predatory grin spread across her lips as she followed the sound, her senses tingling with anticipation as she closed in on her prey.
Moments later, Rama emerged into a dimly lit chamber, her eyes narrowing as she caught sight of a lone figure standing in the center of the room. It was a young woman, her features twisted in fear as she backed away from Rama’s advancing form.
"Y-Your Highness." The young lady stuttered as she bowed in respect. She was afraid, a mask she could barely conceal from Rama’s senses.
With a predatory grace, Rama stalked towards her prey, her fangs bared in a menacing snarl as she prepared to strike. The young woman’s eyes widened in terror as she realized the danger she was in, but it was too late.
In a blur of motion, Rama lunged forward, her fangs sinking deep into the soft flesh of the young woman’s neck. A guttural moan escaped the woman’s lips as her lifeblood flowed freely into Rama’s mouth, filling her with a sense of euphoria unlike anything she had ever experienced before.
For a moment, time seemed to stand still as Rama drank deeply from her prey, her senses overwhelmed by the intoxicating taste of blood. But even as she savored the sweet nectar of life, a strange sensation stirred within her, a nagging feeling that something was not quite right.
No matter how hungry she had become, she was usually able to control herself, but now, it seemed almost impossible for her to stop.
The maid’s eyes were wide with terror as she gasped for breath, her lifeblood draining away with each frantic heartbeat.
But Rama paid no heed to the maid’s pleas for mercy, her senses overwhelmed by the intoxicating taste of blood that filled her mouth. It was a primal instinct, a hunger so fierce that it consumed her whole being, driving her to feed with a ferocity that bordered on madness.
As she drank, Rama felt a surge of euphoria wash over her, her senses heightened to a fever pitch as the rich crimson liquid flooded her veins. It was a sensation unlike anything she had ever experienced before, a heady rush of pleasure and power that threatened to consume her whole.
But even as she savored the sweet taste of blood, a voice in the back of her mind whispered a warning, a nagging sense of guilt that tugged at her conscience. She knew that she was losing control, that she was teetering on the brink of oblivion with each drop of blood that she consumed.
Suddenly, a strong hand closed around Rama’s shoulder, pulling her away from the maid with a forceful jerk. Startled, Rama stumbled backward, her fangs retracting as she came face to face with her husband, Draco, the vampire king.
"Rama," Draco growled, his voice low and commanding as he glanced at his wife with a mixture of concern and frustration. "What are you doing? If you were hungry, you should have rang the maid instead."
As she pulled away from her victim, Rama’s eyes widened in shock as she caught sight of the crimson stains that marred her lips.
Rama’s chest heaved with exertion as she struggled to catch her breath, her eyes wild with hunger as she fought against the overwhelming urge to feed. "I could not control it, Draco," she implied, her voice tinged with desperation. "The hunger consumed me, it doesn’t feel right, something’s wrong with me."
Draco’s expression softened slightly as he regarded her words, his eyes filled with a mixture of concern. "You were simply just hungry, when was the last time you fed, hm?" he said gently, reaching out to touch her cheek with a reassuring hand. "I last fed this morning." She whispered and Draco’s brows furrowed in confusion.
"You’re just stressed, but you must learn to master your thirst, for the sake of our kingdom and our people."
With a heavy sigh, Rama nodded in reluctant agreement, knowing that he was right, but it wasn’t as easy as he spewed. She knew that her uncontrollable hunger posed a threat not only to herself but to the safety of their kingdom as well. She could not afford to let her primal instincts run wild, not when the lives of so many hung in the balance.
Turning her gaze to the maid, Rama felt a pang of guilt wash over her as she saw the young woman lying on the floor, pale and weak from loss of blood. With a heavy heart, she reached out to help her to her feet, her hands trembling with remorse as she apologized for her actions.
But the maid recoiled in fear at the sight of Rama’s outstretched hand, her eyes wide with terror as she scrambled to her feet and fled from the chamber with all the speed she could muster. And as she disappeared into the darkness, Rama felt a sense of shame wash over her, knowing that she had once again succumbed to the darkness that lurked within her soul.
With a heavy sigh, Rama turned to Draco, her eyes filled with sadness as she realized the extent of the danger she posed to those around her. "I am sorry, I have no idea what came over me," she whispered, her voice barely more than a hoarse whisper.
A warm glow suddenly bathed their skins and when she craned her head to where the warmth was coming from, she saw the sun rising through the window as a new dawn broke.
Draco reached out to embrace her as he spoke "It’s alright, love." But then, she suddenly felt nauseous, it was as if the blood she consumed, suddenly turned to poison in the pit of her stomach.
Without warning, she retched out the blood she had consumed on the floor, while Draco patted her back gently as she vomited, forming a puddle of blood on the floor.
"Rama, are you alright?!" Draco panicked as he wiped her mouth with a kerchief while supporting her to sit on a chair.
Her eyes abruptly widened as she connected all the dots together. The dizziness, strange sensations and extensive cravings within the past few days, they all finally made sense now.
It was then that she realized the truth, she was pregnant.
A surge of conflicting emotions washed over Rama as she grappled with the revelation. On one hand, she felt a sense of wonder and awe at the prospect of new life growing within her and on the other hand, she was slightly scared of the future.
