Chapter 346: Lost Again

Chapter 346: Lost Again

Rama scuttered to the window, fear gripping tightly at her heart as she tried to make sense of where she was and most importantly who she was.

Looking out into the courtyard through the window, she saw servants doing work around, tending to the garden and so forth, while luxurious carriages roamed about, going in and out of the gates.

Breathing heavily, she stepped away from the window and retraced her steps back to stand in front of the full length mirror, staring back at her reflection.

As she approached, her reflection came into focus, and she gasped in disbelief at the sight before her.

Staring back at her was a face she did not recognize, framed by waves of midnight black hair cascading down her shoulders like a waterfall.

Her features were delicate yet striking, with high cheekbones and full lips that seemed to tremble with uncertainty. But it was her eyes that held her captive, pools of jade green, shimmering with a depth that hinted at untold secrets.

Tentatively, she reached out a hand, her fingertips grazing the cool surface of the mirror as if seeking reassurance. Her reflection mimicked her movements, and she watched in fascination as her hand traced the contours of her face, lingering on the curve of her cheek and the arch of her brow.

Who am I? The thought echoed in her mind, reverberating like a haunting refrain. She searched her memories, but found only fragments, disjointed images and fleeting emotions that slipped through her grasp like grains of sand. Panic welled up inside her, threatening to consume her whole.

Desperate for answers, she turned away from the mirror and stumbled towards the chamber door, her heart pounding in her chest like a drumbeat. With trembling hands, she pushed it open, revealing a corridor shrouded in shadows that seemed to stretch on endlessly.

Every step she took felt like a leap into the unknown, her mind racing with questions that had no answers. Who had brought her here? And why? Was this some kind of dream, or had she truly been transported to another world in a foreign body with her memories stolen?

As she wandered the dimly lit corridors, she couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched, as if unseen eyes followed her every move, lurking in the darkness just beyond her sight. Goosebumps prickled her skin, and she quickened her pace, her bare feet whispering against the cold stone floor.

Summoning her courage, she stepped into the hall, her footsteps echoing loudly in the silence. Heads turned in her direction, curious gazes peering out from behind the masks, she reasoned they were knights or guards, whichever one. She felt their scrutiny like a weight upon her shoulders, pressing down on her with a force that threatened to crush her spirit.

But she refused to be cowed. Straightening her shoulders, she raised her chin and met their stares with a steady gaze. She may not remember who she was or how she had come to be here, but she refused to let fear rule her. She was Rama, whoever that may be, and she would not be intimidated by the unknown.

Gulping, she immediately retrteated back into the chambers where she came from, at least it was safe and perhaps she reasoned it was best to stay indoors, at least safe from prying and unfamiliar eyes.

Retracing her steps back to the mirror, she sighed softly as she looked at her reflection.

As she stood in the dimly lit chamber, her heart pounded in her chest like a drumbeat as she wrestled with the fragments of memories that danced just beyond her grasp.

She turned away from the mirror, her gaze falling upon the ornate furnishings that adorned the room, the intricately carved furniture, the tapestries that hung from the walls, the flickering candles that cast long shadows across the floor.

Her mind swirled with confusion, a maelstrom of uncertainty and fear. Who was she? Where was she? And how had she come to be in this strange and unfamiliar place?

As she struggled to make sense of her surroundings, a sound echoed through the chamber, the soft tread of footsteps approaching from the corridor beyond. Rama’s breath caught in her throat as she tensed, her senses on high alert.

And then he appeared, a figure framed in the doorway, tall and imposing, his presence filling the room like a storm cloud on the horizon. Rama’s heart skipped a beat as she took in his form, her eyes widening in disbelief at the sight before her.

He was like no man she had ever seen, his features chiseled and angular, his skin as pale as alabaster beneath the flickering candlelight. Long, silky black hair cascaded down his shoulders like a waterfall, framing a face that seemed too perfect to be real. But it was his eyes that held her captive, pools of liquid gold with a tinge of red, swirling with a depth that seemed to pierce straight through to her soul.

Draco. The name echoed in her mind, a whisper on the edge of her consciousness. She knew him, or at least, she should have. But try as she might, she could not summon forth any memories of their past together.

He stepped into the room, his movements fluid and graceful, like a predator stalking its prey. His gaze never wavered from hers, and Rama felt a shiver run down her spine at the intensity of his stare.

"Breakfast is ready." He announced with a grin, but then, one swift glance at her and he was already aware of what had transpired. The look of confusion in her eyes and the hesitation in her movements indicated the precarious event that had ensued.

His jaws ticked and his fists clenched into a tight ball as he muttered beneath his breath with a dark growl "Lucifer."

She gazed at him with vacant eyes, her once vibrant spirit dimmed by a veil of oblivion. Draco’s heart clenched painfully at the sight, knowing that his father, the devil himself, was behind her sudden memory loss.

With measured steps, Draco approached Rama, his inhuman beauty radiating an ethereal aura that both captivated and unnerved her. Her instincts warned her of the danger he posed, and she suddenly reached for a sharp hairpin resting on the ornate dressing table nearby, her fingers curling around it with determination.

"Rama," Draco’s voice was a soft murmur, laced with sorrow and desperation. "It’s me, Draco. Your mate."

Rama’s gaze flickered with recognition, but fear clouded her eyes as she tightened her grip on the hairpin, brandishing it like a weapon against him.

"Stay away," she warned, her voice trembling with uncertainty. "I don’t know you!"

Draco’s heart shattered at her words, the weight of his father’s act heavy upon his shoulders. He raised his hands in a gesture of surrender, his eyes pleading with Rama to see beyond the darkness that threatened to consume them.

"Please, Rama," he implored, his voice cracking with emotion. "You must believe me. I would never harm you. It’s my enemy, he’s the one responsible for this, he erased your memories because he doesn’t want us together."

Rama’s defenses faltered for a moment, uncertainty flickering in her eyes as she wavered between trust and suspicion. But the menacing aura that surrounded Draco, a reminder of his infernal lineage, kept her on edge, her grip on the hairpin unwavering.

"I cannot trust you," she whispered, her voice barely above a breath. "Not until I know the truth."

With a heavy heart, Draco took a step back, his soul aching with the knowledge that he had lost her trust, perhaps forever. He watched helplessly as Rama retreated further into herself, a solitary figure in the midst of their once vibrant chamber.

"Rama," he said, his voice low and commanding, sending a thrill of apprehension coursing through her veins. "Try to remember me, I’ll help you through."

She shook her head, her throat tight with emotion. "I... I’m sorry. I don’t remember anything."

A flicker of something unreadable crossed Draco’s features, and for a moment, Rama thought she saw a hint of sadness in his eyes. But it was gone in an instant, replaced by a steely resolve that sent a chill down her spine.

"Then allow me to remind you," he said, his voice tinged with a hint of amusement. "I am Draco – your mate."

Mate. The word hung in the air between them, heavy with implications that Rama could scarcely comprehend. She felt a surge of panic rise within her, mingling with a strange, undeniable attraction that pulsed like a heartbeat in the depths of her soul.

Draco took a step closer, his presence filling the room like a tidal wave. Rama found herself unable to look away, mesmerized by the raw power and undeniable beauty that emanated from him like a tangible force.

"You are mine, Rama," he said, his voice low and hypnotic. "And I will do whatever it takes to protect you."

His words sent a thrill of apprehension through her, but beneath the fear, she sensed something else, a flicker of longing, buried deep within the recesses of her heart. She didn’t understand it, couldn’t explain it, but she knew that it was there, burning like a flame in the darkness.

As Draco drew closer, Rama found herself drawn to him like a moth to a flame. She reached out a trembling hand, her fingers brushing against his cheek with a tenderness that surprised her.

For a moment, time seemed to stand still as they stood there, locked in a silent embrace. And in that fleeting moment, Rama felt a sense of peace wash over her, a feeling of belonging that she had never known before.

Draco’s eyes softened as he looked at her, his gaze filled with a tenderness that took her breath away. In that moment, Rama knew that she was home, not just in this strange and unfamiliar world, but in the arms of the man who stood before her, his love a beacon in the darkness that threatened to consume her whole.

But still the abyss of oblivion cramming her mind consumed her into a deeper sense of disarray. The peculiar man before her claiming to be her mate provoked an undeniable feeling festering within, but still, she realized it was best to think with her head and not her heart, at least until she knew the truth.
