The Devil's Warrior Queen -
Chapter 343: Like Calls To Like
Chapter 343: Like Calls To Like
"Did you care for me, truly or was I just a new powerful pawn in your game?" Draco asked stiffly, his stern eyes searching through the infernal depths of his father’s soul to reflect his undying rage.
"What does it matter? Love is something my heart has been designed to never feel, I have no liability, revenge is all I need, all I ever needed." Lucifer stated.
"Power and control is what you thirst and hunger for, nothing more." Draco hissed.
"Power is control!" Lucifer’s voice rumbled, the air rippling with the menacing vigor emanating from both demons. The dark sky above rumbled as lightning thundered across the clouds, as if acknowledging the presence of both the infernal father and son.
"You can leave now, I’ve had enough of hearing you spout your rubbish." Draco said in a contrasting calm voice as he turned his back on him, proceeding to leave.
"Or maybe because I didn’t tell you what you wanted to hear. How much I cared about you, how pitiful and weak for a being as powerful as you are for wanting to hear that." Lucifer said with a disappointed sigh, his cold and dead eyes peering into Draco’s with not a whiff of warmth flickering beneath the flames in his eyes.
"And why would I need to hear such pathetic words from you? Besides you’re forgetting who’s really the pathetic one here. You and your pitiful excuse of minions with the ambition for an unrealistic revenge scheme is far beyond pathetic. You’re wretched for a devil, if I were you, I’d stop this pitiful fight and do something rather worthwhile to get my name back, even the humans are becoming more vile than you are." Draco hissed between gritted teeth, rage burning into his eyes.
Lucifer, calm and menacing stood still as he watched him with an amused look "Yet you’re the one who can’t even control his emotions. My ambitions of gaining power and control is nothing close to pathetic and we both know it, even you are tempted by the offer, do you want to know what’s truly pathetic, son?" Lucifer drawled heavily on his words, emphasizing solely on the ’son’ as he peered his burning gaze deeply into his eyes.
"The only true pathetic thing is what I’m trying to save you from, yourself. The hope you have for the future with Rama, that fluttering sensation in your heart for her, that is pathetic because when it all crumbles, you’ll be even more pathetic." Lucifer remarked, his words lingering with an air of danger and warning.
"She may be a night creature now, but she is not immortal. One day, she will die no matter how much you try to protect her or how far you go and then you’ll wish you were dead too, but you’re not mortal so you’ll live regardless of your pitiful wish." Lucifer pointed out, his words brimming with a truth Draco failed to accept.
"Shut your mouth and leave right this instant!" Draco growled, his voice reverberating with dread.
"The truth is indeed as bitter as vinegar, but know this. A thousand years might feel like an eternity for mortals, but we both have lived an eternity and it felt like mere minutes, didn’t it?" Lucifer continued torturing him with his words of truth, perhaps the lies rolling sweetly from his mouth was better than the truth he told, cause when he did, they tasted like bile.
"As I said, we’re the only ones alike, and like calls to like, there is no odd in between. Come with me and put your weakness behind, don’t let it consume you. It’s not too late now, but it will be too late in a thousand years. It will be too late when she dies for good and this time, no little trick of yours will be able to save her." Lucifer said in a dark whisper.
"That’s enough!" Draco growled, his nose billowing with rage, his eyes scorching with relentless anger.
"That’s not the reason I came here anyway, so I’ll end it there, so you don’t sulk over the future." Lucifer said.
"Why are you here then, if not to spout more hogwash?" Draco pointed out, his brows furrowed in impatience.
"To strike a deal, one that would highly be in favour of you and your...mate." Lucifer replied as he glanced back at the cottage.
"If there was one thing I learned from you, it’s that deals with you are never favorable on any account. I’m not interested in your twisted games, not tonight." Draco stated with a firm resolve.
"I’m certain you want her to retrieve her memories back and we both know that I’m the only one who can reverse what I did, just accept the deal and her memories will return, but refuse and you’ll both have to keep suffering." Lucifer implied, a twisted glint in his eyes.
Draco’s eyes hardened as he leaned forward "She’ll retrieve her memories back, but not at the cost of your lying tongue."
"My lying tongue spewed truths earlier ago, truths that you weren’t willing to accept. Isn’t it ironic son, you hate my lying tongue but despise it when I start speaking the truth? Choose one devil to fight or don’t fight at all." Lucifer clarified, a faint smirk appearing on his lips before it disappeared.
"Either way, I won’t be accepting any deal from you, I’d rather join the angels and sing instead." Draco sneered.
"She’ll never regain her memories without me, you should know as much, don’t be foolish, child." Lucifer warned.
"You want our child, isn’t that why you’re here? Trying to use her memories as leverage to gain possession of our offspring, isn’t it the deal or would you like to twist your words through?" Draco quipped, his face chiseled with intensity.
"There’s nothing to twist in my words, you’re absolutely right. I want to nurture the darkling prince yet to be born, mold him into my footsteps, it’s better than watching him being molded in your weak form, he needs to embrace his true nature, not succumb to the weakness of human emotions as you did." Lucifer remarked.
It came as no surprise that Lucifer already knew their unborn son’s nickname, the darkling prince. He knew everything and not a single knowledge of what was transpiring in the world went past him.
"You must have badly hit your head before coming here and asking me to give my unborn child to you to nurture and mold in your figure, that deal is null." Draco highlighted on every word, making sure every syllable was ingrained into his head.
"Well then, we shall see about that when the break of dawn ensues." Lucifer had his final remark before a torrent of darkness engulfed him, swallowing his form into a vortex of shadows as he vanished into thin air, disappearing from his sight.
Draco’s chest heaved heavily from anger, with smoke practically billowing from his nose and his golden eyes burning with intense flames that could burn through a person’s skin.
The audacity and high confidence Lucifer had to spew such rubbish to him about giving him his son was beyond ludicrous, but he was fuming in anger not because of the deal he was trying to strike with him, he was fuming in anger because the devil was unpredictable and he was well aware that he would go to far lengths just to get what he wanted, after all nothing was holding him back, unlike him, he had a weakness and Lucifer had a knack for wielding people’s weaknesses to do his bidding.
While he stood on the lone edge of the mountain, the cottage door creaked open and in the next second, he heard that soothing voice ring behind him, the voice that made his troubles fade into thin air.
"Draco?"
His furrowed brows and grim countenance softened as he turned around to face her, her face glowing under the dim moonlight as she approached him slowly, the hem of her gown billowing softly in the wind.
"The faeries are gone, what are you still doing here, alone?" She asked as she closed the distance between them, while tilting her chin up to scrutinize his face darkened by the shadows of the night, but it didn’t seem to be a normal night shadow.
"Nothing, I was just enjoying the night air, you can join me." He said with a barely faint smile reaching his lips.
Pressing her hand into his big ones, she squeezed his palms gently while cupping his face with her other hand "Are you alright? Something feels off, I just....feel it." She enquired, her brows twisted as she gave him a knowing look.
"Everything is fine, nothing to worry about, I assure you." He said softly as he gave her a warm smile, and she nodded, even though her instincts tugged at her subconscious mind.
In silence, they watched the crescent moon for a few moment before proceeding to leave the wistful cottage "We should head back to the castle." Draco suggested and she nodded as they walked to their horse.
