The Devil's Warrior Queen
Chapter 342: Damned

Chapter 342: Damned

"Lucifer." Draco called with a crooked grin as he sighed drearily "I was planning on paying you a visit, not the other way round."

"I thought of doing the honors instead, since you finally woke up." Lucifer said in a low drawl, the darkness moving with his form in the slightest motion.

"Expecting me to sleep for an eternity? Sorry I didn’t live up to your expectations, Lucifer." Draco sneered.

"I never underestimated you son, neither was I attempting to put you in an eternal slumber, it was only a form of punishment for both your defiance." Lucifer stated, his voice calm and buttery coated with poison.

"Punishment or revenge?" Draco implied as a sarcastic smirk tugged his lips up.

No response or reaction was elicited from Lucifer whatever as he stood unmoving, like a towering sentinel of darkness looming under the night sky.

"Do you have nightmares of what I did to her? How I...ripped her apart, limb by limb, bathing the ground with her blood, while you watched the light in her beautiful, big eyes fade away." Draco’s eyes darkened with menace as he spoke, emphasizing on every word that reverberated under his breath in a guttural tone.

The night air rumbled with palpable tension as he spoke, the vicinity itself shivered with callous tenacity that seemed to emanate from both of the sinister creatures.

Silence hovered around them for a moment before Lucifer broke it "There’s no use crying over spilled milk, is there? Yet, my greatest regret is you, but amends can be made. Where you fail to do your duties as my son, an alternate could replace you, hopefully." His dark voice slithered through the air, evoking his nature of mischief and sinister schemes from within.

Lucifer was a cunning entity, he was good with his devious words and Draco knew better than to prolong it, after all he was not only drawn to the darkness of his lineage that bound them, but he reveled in it, felt powerful in his darkness.

"By alternate, you mean my offspring." Draco pointed out frankly.

"The only beings that can equal to you are me and your offspring, and the only ones that can equal to our lineage are no one, because they are no other like us and there never will be."Every word rolling out of Lucifer’s mouth echoed softly, a whisper of promise and power swirling beneath his breath.

"I’ll have to wake you up from your dream, because I’ll never watch you go anywhere near my child or poison his head with lies and irrelevant ambitions. It didn’t work for me and I doubt it will for him either." Draco warned, his ember eyes glowing with a hellish vigor.

"You’ve been exempting yourself from your duty as the prince of hell and my son for a long time, my ambitions are a path to redemption, to take what is rightfully ours, what has always been ours." Lucifer let out an intense growl as he spoke, his golden eyes burning with his fiery drive.

Draco sighed, his willpower unwavering by the promise of power and control. Moving closer to Lucifer, he stood narrow inches away from him as he spouted out "Maybe if you had given yourself a chance to love and what it was like to be loved, you wouldn’t be damned for an eternity in your own shadows and loneliness."

"Love..is a weakness, as strong as you think it makes you, it’s the only weakness you have. The trick is not to let anyone in but you did and that’s the only way karma can get to you, fortunately, you helped me rid of my weakness, and now I have nothing holding me back from my full potential neither should you." Lucifer said, his calm voice turning into a callous one, their eyes locked in a momentary lapse, twin orbs of flames reflecting into each other’s eyes.

"You’re wrong, love isn’t a weakness unless you choose it to be, she’s never been my weakness but Irene was a weakness to you, because you were already doomed from the start, already fueled with hatred and vengeance that it seeped into your dark soul and consumed you whole to the extent that even your mate could not save you, but Rama saved me, she gave me redemption, can’t say the same for you." Draco spewed out casually as he shrugged, but his nonchalant facade was a disparity to the intensity in his ember eyes.

"She never saved you, no one can save us from ourselves, from our darkness. The darkness is sowed inside our souls, it’s our essence. Nothing can save you from what you truly are, it’s like hope, disappointing. Get rid of hope and you’ll find clarity." Lucifer intoned, his voice calm and persuasive like the gloved hand of a dagger concealing its sharp edges.

"Hope, was something I never had. I was never hopeful because the people who birthed me were the first to crush their child’s hope before it even bloomed as well as every humane emotion it was supposed to have." Draco’s eyes narrowed to a dark slit as he spoke between gritted teeth.

Lucifer’s countenance remained impassive even as he spoke with displeasure "You’re not human, so why would you have human emotions? It would have only turned you into a weakling, you should be grateful for being the powerful demon that you are. You are a demon and its only logical that you act like your true nature, if you had been brought up in the underworld, it wouldn’t have been any different."

"At the cost of a child’s innocence, is it?" Draco indicated with a scoff.

Draco’s eyes gleamed with a feral intensity as he vowed under his breath "But innocent I am no more. You desire vengeance against the heavens but I desire vengeance against hell. I won’t stop until I make you watch every single thing you’ve built burn to the ground, every single demon in your order will perish by my hands and your forsaken rule will end where I end you."

The silent night air was suddenly disturbed by the demonic ringing of Lucifer’s sinister laughter as it pricked the quietude of the vicinity.

His laughter ended abruptly as he proceeded to speak, but a subtle grin tore through his lips to expose his teeth as though he found something weirdly amusing about Draco’s statement.

"I’ve always taught you son, that there are some evils that cannot be contained. Have you learned nothing from my teachings? I am inevitable and so are you, and with time, they’ll be more of us." Lucifer said softly.

"If you want more inevitable ’you’s’, then give birth to more so that you may have an army of demon children to do your bidding, you’ll sure love to order your puppets around." Draco stated with a nonchalant facade.

"You lack knowledge about your own lineage, but let me educate you, son, you can only birth an offspring with your mate and no one else. Unfortunately you rid me of that choice, or I wouldn’t even bother with you." Lucifer pointed out.

"Understand why I would never lay a hand on Rama’s hair and it isn’t because I’m afraid of you, its because of what she can do, the use she has in our lineage. Without her, my lineage ends with you, so as much as you want her alive, I want it too. We’re not so completely different now, are we? After all we both desire the same thing, just slightly different goals." Lucifer clarified with a devilish smirk hanging on his lips.

"Then why did you kill her? The human girl I was..If she wasn’t a threat to our lineage, then there wasn’t any benefit in her death." Draco implied.

"You started hoping and I had to remind you how dangerous and disappointing hope was for creatures like us. You became repulsive my weak and pathetic, and for a moment you forgot what you were, I only reminded you, but at a cost." Lucifer implied in a quipped tone.

"Is that your ruthless way of telling me you cared about me? Am I to believe that deep down in that cold, dark heart of yours, you cared for me?" Draco queried sarcastically, but perhaps his inner child needed to gain clarity that perhaps, once even if it was for a moment, the devil truly cared about his son rather than seeing him as a weapon of mass destruction.

"We both knew very well what would have happened if I had let the girl live. She wasn’t your mate, she was only a shoulder to lean on but if I had let whatever pathetic feeling bloom within you, it would have ended in a worse fate." Lucifer paused while Draco listened, his jaws clenching as he fought the inner battle in him, torn between accepting the truth that the devil truly cared for him once, but the contempt and revulsion festering in his heart dissuaded the sincerity in his father’s eyes.

"You would have hurt for a thousand years more, so I made you hurt for a hundred, how compassionate of me, isn’t it? Yet they say the devil lacks compassion." Lucifer said as he gave him a crooked smile.
