The Devil's Warrior Queen
Chapter 309: Choice Or Will?

Chapter 309: Choice Or Will?

"There’s no use in overthinking, you don’t have a choice anyway, you’re not going anywhere." Draco’s silky voice snapped her out of her thoughts.

She pressed her lips in a straight line, while glaring at him with a fierce gaze.

Crossing her arms over her chest, she blurted out "Am I your prisoner or your wife?"

"I longed for you...An entire year without you was a nightmare, so why on earth would I let you go for yet another second?" His voice rumbled across the walls as he approached her with a slow, graceful stride.

The flames in his ember eyes danced with an irresistible flicker, portraying the inner torment he underwent in his imprisoned state and suppressed emotions within.

Her heart skipped a beat when he approached her so closely, his eyes holding her under their intimidating gaze. She could feel the melancholic darkness seeping from his form, it was cold and dark, and her breath hitched in trepidation.

"W-What happened to you?" She stammered out, her young eyes staring at his chest as she looked down, unable to keep eye contact with him any longer.

"Wash up first, we’ll talk about it during breakfast." Draco implied.

She nodded meekly as she slowly tilted her head up to look at the enigmatic yet familiar man. He seemed so distant from her mind, yet at the same time, he seemed so familiar but she couldn’t quite point her fingers on it.

His spicy scent and dark aura seemed to hold some kind of bewitching spell on her, it stirred her senses to the extent she failed to construct a proper thinking pattern whenever he was that close to her, not to mention his burning eyes that seared through her soul.

But amidst all his eccentric qualities that reeled her rational senses, it was the sincerity in his voice and the tenderness in his eyes when he gave her that look of ardor as though she was the most precious being in the world.

Despite the fact that she hated him for what he had done, her heart still fluttered when he showed her his vulnerable side.

"Rama, you can go on and take a wash now, you look lost." Draco’s voice brought her back to reality again as she flinched slightly.

Fluttering her lashes, she hastily spoke "And then you’ll tell me everything?"

"It’s best if you know of only the important things first, you’ll remember it all anyway. It’s only a matter of time." Draco remarked.

"How sure are you that I’ll regain my memories back?" She asked, her young eyes staring up at him for answers.

"I’ll make sure of that, trust me." He replied confidently.

She scoffed in disbelief "And how do you expect me to trust you when you can’t even control yourself?"

"You should understand that I made the choice to kill Dalen, I wasn’t out of control." He stated, not a hint of remorse in his cold eyes.

"Will you also kill me when you’re angry at me?" She spouted out.

"I would never hurt you. Anyone else but you." He asserted with sincerity, his voice softened as his eyes met hers, but she looked away even though she knew he wouldn’t lay a finger on her.

Still, she needed to remind herself of what he had done, she needed to constantly remind her melting willpower that no matter how captivating his beauty was, how candid his feelings for her were or the sincerity in his gaze, she wouldn’t be swept off her feet.

He was still a monster, the only difference was that he was a beautiful monster with an irresistible charm.

"When you hurt the ones I care about, you also hurt me so that only means you’re lying. Until you see past your wrongdoings and feel sincere remorse for killing Dalen in cold blood, I will never forgive you for what you did." Rama hissed in rage as she tilted her chin up defiantly.

"I’ll have to apologize in advance." He paused, his eyes gleaming with utmost sincerity, leaving her in a state of surprise as it appeared as if he was about to apologize.

"But, unfortunately, I can’t feel remorse for killing Dalen. If only he had an ounce of respect for me and you, he wouldn’t have looked at you even once with those lustful eyes of his or am I wrong Rama? Has he never once made any discourteous advance toward you?" Draco drawled, the words rolling off his tongue like poison as his jaws clenched.

The mere thought of Dalen making any sort of move toward his wife sufficed his insides with rage, and if he could, he would murder him all over again most horrifically and agonizingly way possible.

Rama gulped softly, because she knew he was right. Dalen and Aurora were already aware of her past, he must have certainly been aware that she was already married, but still he made advances toward her.

All the kind gestures and affectionate smiles from him ran through her head. He had been courting her earlier, until she rejected his advances. It wasn’t right but neither was Draco’s way of handling the situation.

"Despite all that, we were already leaving and he would never have seen me again, you had zero reasons to kill him." She reasoned out, her brows furrowing in anger.

"I missed your angry face." He suddenly said with a wistful smile tearing through his lips with his golden eyes gleaming reminiscingly, while diverting smoothly from the topic as he ignored her.

Her brows furrowed harder at his nonchalance, and she hated to admit but when he smiled, her heart melted like rubber on high heat and for a split second, she almost found it hard to proceed with hating on this ethereal man.

Her jade eyes fixated on him firmed up as she spoke "You handle things so lightly because you think you’re powerful and everything will go exactly the way you want, but if you do not apologize for what you did to Dalen, I will never forgive you."

"Why should I apologize when he was the disrespectful one? Why should I apologize for teaching that lustful bastard a lesson? Why should I apologize when his eyes were on my wife? Maybe if he had looked the other direction, then his head wouldn’t be dangling out of his neck." Draco emphasized with a low growl.

"If you really cared about me then my threats would have meant something to you." She remarked.

"It won’t be the first time you threaten me love, you never really mean it yet you act like you do." Draco blatantly stated out, leaving her dumbstruck.

"Wha-"

"I know you better than you, it will certainly take less than a few days to melt your resolve and hate, all I have to do is wait." He continued with confidence.

"You’re impossible to be with, so conceited and prideful, how on earth did I agree to marry you? It doesn’t even make any sense that I would agree to marry such a man as yourself, this is beyond preposterous because definitely no woman would want to be with a man like yourself except for your looks, but I doubt that was the reason we were married, perhaps was I forced?" Rama pointed out as she shook her head in disbelief.

Draco scoffed in amusement "You are my mate Rama, believe it or not, we were meant to be and yes, I may have forced you to marry me at first, but it all worked out because we were already fated by the universe to be together. Our souls were bonded from birth."

Rama shot him a skeptical look mixed with confusion "This sounds even more ludicrous than I imagined. Bonded? Mates? You forced me to get married and that is all I needed to know. I was very certain I would never willingly marry a man like you. Arrogant and self centered."

"It’s a demon thing. Demons have mates and when they find their mates, they get bonded by a bond bite. You still have yours because the mark never fades, it is a seal of claim." Draco explained with a serious countenance.

For a short moment, she studied his face with keen eyes, as if weighing the sincerity of his words. He seemed to be making some kind of sense and at the same time, she was left in uncertainty.

Glancing at him with wide eyes, she scurried to the full body mirror and pushed the collar of her dress down to bare her slender neck.

Tilting her head to the side, she saw a bite mark situated at the nook of her neck. Hesitantly, she brushed her fingers against the bite mark and a slight electric sensation danced beneath her fingertips.

Shocked, she flinched back, her eyes widening in astonishment as she realized he was right. She was his mate.

Perhaps, it could explain the reason for the unexplainable bond she felt between them, like an intense charge in the air luring her to his dangerous charms, despite the transparent danger signs.
