Chapter 178: Kidnapped By The Dark Witches II

"W-What do you want from me?" Malika stuttered, her voice croaked unable to suppress the fear she felt.

"Let’s go." The green-eyed witch ordered with an air of authority the others did not seem to have. She immediately figured out that she was the leader or perhaps the dark witch queen, after all, she possessed a more powerful aura than the others.

As the queen had ordered, they prepared to leave. She saw the other witches conjure up a full-body-sized mirror that materialized from within whirling dark mists.

A few of the witches went through the mirror acting as a portal to their lair, and then the one tugging at her hair started pushing her towards it.

"Stop! No, let go!!" She wailed hysterically, terror visible in her striking eyes as she thrashed her limbs in vain.

The witch surprisingly let go of her hair but before she could press thoughts on why, a hard leather cord suddenly wrung around her neck, choking her, and when she looked up, the person holding grasp of it was the witch queen, her green eyes were steely hard.

Gagging with tears sufficient to the brim of her eyes, she struggled to free herself from the grip, but it was futile. In the next moment, the door swung open, but she couldn’t catch sight of who it was as she was busy struggling to breathe while the rope tightened around her neck.

Unable to process what had transpired, the witch Queen viciously yanked at the rope twisted around her neck and in the following second, she saw herself being propelled forward with brute force as she went through the mirror.

Rather than crashing into the glass as she had instinctively braced herself for, she found herself disappearing into it. It felt as if she was floating through dark clouds but she was unable to keep her eyes open, and then everything turned black.

As the door to Malika’s room shot open, Rama froze as she saw the scene before her, of a green-eyed woman tugging at a rope wound around Malika’s neck while she struggled to breathe, but before they could take a step, the green-eyed woman’s reflexes were impressively fast. She shoved Malika into the mirror with an inhumane pace and then she followed after her, the both of them disappeared into the mirror, not after the woman spared her a malicious side-eye.

Rama shrieked when she saw Malika being shoved into the mirror with the green-eyed woman following suit. The moment they disappeared through the portal, Rama’s heart leaped to her throat.

Draco immediately attacked the two witches, laying waste to them before they could escape his wrath as their reflexes weren’t as promising as the green-eyed witch’s, but she didn’t have enough brain space to ponder about it as she thought of Malika instead.

She saw Draco examining the mirror, her gaze narrowed to the corpse of the dead witches before dropping it back on him, she was still reeling from the unexpected kidnapping of Malika she still hadn’t found her voice until then.

"Malika...." She called out, her voice shaky with suppressed tears that seemed to almost choke her.

Draco averted his gaze from the mirror to drop on her as she approached him. His brows twisted in displeasure at her disgruntled demeanor concerning Malika’s kidnapping.

"She’ll be fine," Draco assured, but even he wasn’t quite certain about his own words.

"And how are you so sure about that? Why did they even take her?" Her lips quivered in fear of what they would do to her, the dark tales of their gory rituals made her uneasy.

"They won’t hurt her, they’re using her as bait to lure us to their lair," Draco said, but still, it wasn’t enough to convince her.

"How do you know any of that? And why her?" Rama blurted out in a croaking voice as she swallowed hard.

"They know how much she means to you, they’re well aware of her value, because I’ll have no other choice but to save her for your happiness." Draco pointed out with a darkened face, obviously, he wasn’t pleased about the implications.

"They’ve been watching us long enough to know how precious she is to me, how on earth did you miss them out? You’re the Devil’s son for crying out loud, how did mere witches in deceptive masks of illusions bypass your guard?" She snapped, panic written all over her face.

"I don’t exactly watch every single person in the castle, but I’ll bring her back...Alive, I promise." He remarked earnestly.

"I’m sorry, it’s not your fault." She muttered apologetically as she sobbed while slumping down on the bed in a downcast mood, but then, her eyes narrowed to the mirror and she immediately jolted up to her feet.

"The mirror! They went through the portal and it’s still here!" She exclaimed with a zealous energy, hope slowly rekindling its snuffed out flames in her eyes.

While she was enthusiastic about rescuing Malika, Draco was rather indifferent about the situation. "And?" He asked in a flat tone.

"We could go after them right now...." She trailed off in a less pessimistic voice as his expression didn’t waver nevertheless upon her suggestion.

"Rama." He called in a calm tone and she immediately braced herself for the downbeat words that would roll off his lips.

"I know what you’re going to say but I can’t leave her to die, I’d rather give up my life to save hers." she said, but the words had barely rolled off her lips, before a river of tears broke out from her eyes amidst heart wrenching sobs.

Draco crouched down in front of her as she sat on the edge of the bed, a weird scorching sensation made his heart burn with an imperceptible rage merely watching her cry in a feeling of helplessness.

He cupped her face in his large palms as he wiped the crystalline drops falling down her cheeks, she sniffed as she looked at him with blurry tear filled eyes.

"I promised I’d bring back Malika, didn’t I?" He queried and she nodded slowly.

"But right now, we can’t invade the dark witches lair. It has been imbued with dark magic, designed to drain any energy force or power core excluding theirs, the moment I step foot into their lair, my powers would seize to exist and then, I’ll be nothing more than a mortal who possesses inhumane strength and speed, but I’ll be no match against them even with that, I won’t be able to save Malika if I act recklessly. Even though I’m immortal, I’ll be weak and then, that leaves you exposed to danger which is exactly what they want." He explained, emphasizing every word that slid from his mouth, each weighing with the intense gravity of the uncanny situation, making sure to stick into her head.

"Then what do we do? How do we save her if we can’t go into the lair?" She panicked in a frantic state, eyes going wide with tension.

He took her delicate hands in his firm ones, squeezing them lightly as he assured her, his crimson ember eyes burning with the zealous flame of his promise "Trust me, I will bring her back, but acting recklessly won’t solve anything now, would it?"

"I know, but the thought of leaving her in their hostage for only a day makes my skin crawl, who knows what they’ll do to her with the more time we waste? I can’t....stand the intrusive thoughts, because what if they’re right? What if Malika is hurting right now and I’m here doing nothing about it...." She trailed off as she gasped for air into her breathless lungs.

"If we act recklessly just to save her quicker, we’ll fail anyway, but I promise she won’t be there for another day, I’ll get her out as soon as possible." He proclaimed firmly, his eyes boring into hers with the intensity of his committed words.

"Alive, you’ll bring her back alive." She spouted her thoughts out unable to represss its she desperately seeked for assurance of any sort that Malika would be alright.

"I’ll bring her back alive." He stated with an obstinate determination, earning a satisfied smile on her face, although it barely reached her lips.

She nodded as she inhaled shakily "Fine, what are we going to do next then?" Her ears eager to hear a helpful information or a rather relevant idea from him.

"I’ll figure that out soon enough, I have a few...loyal subordinates that could help." He said, but she wasn’t fully satisfied with his answer as she shot him a skeptical look, but before she could say anything, the door suddenly swung open to reveal a slightly disheveled Zamiel barging inside, his composure long flown out the window as he scrutinized the room in search of someone until his gaze dropped on them.

"The witches retreated." He informed Draco in a flat tone, even though he had tried to maintain his impassive demeanor, he couldn’t perfectly conceal the palpable pressure of apprehension in his face as a gleam of worry flashed across his gaze.

Rama’s eyes burned with fury immediately when she caught sight of the stoic bastard. Her blood boiled with rage as she jolted up from the bed and marched up to him, while Zamiel watched the angry jade eyed lady with an indifferent expression.

Oblivious of what she was about to do next, Draco watched thinking she would give him some tongue lashing for failing to protect his mate, but in the next moment without warning, her palm flew across his face so hard, the hit echoed through the hallway.
