Chapter 160: The Soiree III
Her heavy breathing was the only sound resounding in the room as her eyes fixated on the entity before her, darkness emanating from every pore of his skin, his presence sucking out any form of light around him.
"I promised to come visit on a more favorable day, but you don’t look alright." He said as he drummed the table with his fingers repetitively.
"W-What do you want?" She questioned beneath her breath in a smattering whisper, slowing gaining confidence aware that sooner or later, Draco would come bursting through those doors with a guttural look on his face after sensing his father here.
"He’s not going to come." She heard him say and her heart dropped, panic and alarm etched on her face, she felt suffocated with fear.
"Have you forgotten I’m Lucifer, I can alter anything, I’m a trickster after all." He pointed out with a short chuckle, his laughter made her skin crawl with dread. It was devoid and sufficed with menace.
She gulped, her mind was in a state of frenzy as she realized she was in a dilemma where even Draco could not save her. In the midst of the fallen angel, she was left with no sort of protection.
’Never again would she leave Draco’s side’ she swore inwardly.
Unnerving dragged silence cloaked the room as she trembled in trepidation under the force of his hellish gaze and cold dark demeanour.
’He could easily kill me!" Was the only hysterical thought rotating inside her head like a motto.
"I won’t kill you Rama, even though he killed my mate. As you said, he’s indeed reckless, while I’m analytic, so that means I can and will hurt you without having to kill you." He said in an impassive tone, his words holding an undeniable promise of her anguish.
Her stomach stirred with a mixture of nausea and fear. Unmistakably, it was safe for her to say Lucifer would be taking his vengeance on her and she didn’t doubt for a second that he would.
"Fret not, it has nothing to do with vengeance, I’m not that silly to kill my son’s mate over a trivial matter as that and I won’t hurt you yet, at least not now." His voice was neutral but it didn’t hep to dissuade the sense of every word dripping with darkness.
His face was still as impassive even as he talked about his dead mate, how empty was he truly for him to perceive the death of his mate as nothing but a trivial matter? She pondered inwardly.
He really had gotten rid of his heart and soul a long time ago, now he was nothing but a powerful tool of vengeance and pride, his only main goal was to dethrone God and rule over heaven, nothing else mattered, at least nothing else was supposed to but along with the man mission, there was always a side task to complete.
"You never loved your mate?" She queried, confidence rising in her tone as curiosity hit her.
"A curious one, are you?" A devilish smirk crossed his lips, a replica of Draco’s.
"I consider it a trivial matter because it was never a part of my master plan. I only have one aim, one goal, one enemy. Everyone knows that." He stated out, his siren golden eyes flashed with an unfathomable glint.
"Still, you were hurting, weren’t you? Just because something isn’t part of your plan doesn’t mean it held no significance," She hinted.
"I had no soul to bind with hers, the bond became useless, yet Draco thought he hit a vulnerable side of me. I let him believe that." He said, his voice was ever so calm, yet as calm as it was, peril lurked beneath it as they rolled off his lips.
"You’re tricking yourself with that lie. If you had no soul, you never would have gotten a mate to bond with since it bonds your soul as one." She retorted, regaining her wavering confidence. His brows twitched as a glint of amusement grazed his eyes.
His resemblance to Draco helped her control her fear, but it lingered still, he wasn’t Draco, he was Lucifer.
As soon as she spoke, she saw him moving towards her, his movement was that of a slithering snake through grass, elegant yet deadly.
With a petrified gasp leaving her lips, she moved back hastily until her back was hitting the wall, fear overwhelmed her as she figured she might have offended him with her big mouth.
Never one to keep her thoughts to herself, she always spout everything out and now, even in front of the devil she couldn’t keep her big, sharp mouth closed.
He stopped moving just a few inches away from her, within their close proximity, she could taste the darkness encompassing him like a regal cloak and the intensity of his burning eyes which matched that of Draco’s.
"You have no reason to feel fear, I’m more irritated when you tremble in front of me, although you have every reason to be afraid." He stated out.
"And you may be right Rama, maybe I did care or maybe I didn’t. The point is even something as significant as the mating bond cannot make me vulnerable, neither can it evade my attention from my purpose." He added.
"Why do you care about me and Draco being together then? It has nothing to do with your endeavour or vengeace against the ruler of heaven." She pointed out, a bit relieved her curiosity and confident questions weren’t in anyway upsetting.
"It does. Half demons are as good as useless against the army of archangels. mating with an ancient demon will only be favourable to everyone. If the both of you disagrees, you’ll face the consequences but if you do coerce to this, you’ll have nothing to worry about and I’ll let you both be." He said, his voice like a hypnotizing poison but rather she felt repulsed by the obvious deal he wanted to strike with her.
"You want him to mate with an ancient demon and then you’ll leave us alone?" She repeated with a disbelieving scoff.
"You’re the only one that could get to him. It’s your path to redemption, never again will you have to worry about the devil destroying your lives." He said persuasively.
She shook her head vigorously, eyes firm and hard, she uttered a confident, even though it was slightly shaky "No."
As expected, he didn’t care about his son, all he cared about was having a powerful offspring by his side to join him in his quest for revenge and dethronement.
His cold eyes locked into hers, a hint of displeasure masking his face as he leaned slightly toward her.
"Don’t think for a moment that Draco can save you from me. He’ll never be prepared for what’s coming and neither will you." He said in a low guttural tone, making goosebumps manifest on her skin.
"Count your days, for the next time I emerge, it will be the end for you and Draco." He threatened in a low, calm voice.
She couldn’t swallow in fear if she wanted to, but his last words spurred a chilling uncanny sensation through her body. He moved back and then the ground beneath her trembled as a dark mist with sparks of hellish flames enveloped him like a vortex of darkness.
His golden eyes gleamed brightly amidst the fierce dark mists swallowing his figure and in the next moment, the darkness engulfed him whole, as if dissolving into his skin and he disappeared, vanished back to his infernal realm.
There was not a single trace of his presence, the shadowed room cloaked with his darkness slowly brightened up and she let out heavy huffs of breath as she swallowed the bitter bile stuck in her throat.
He had given her an option for them to live peacefully, without counting their days, yet she couldn’t swallow the thought of him mating with another demoness and producing an offspring with another woman, the thought made her nauseous and moreover, Draco would not tolerate such from his father neither would he ever listen to a word he had to spew out of his mouth talk more strike a deal with him to betray his mate.
The reason for Lucifer’s visit was apparent, he was conveying his deal through her because he was aware that Draco would never listen to a word he would say, but whether or not she conveyed his words, she knew Draco well enough to know that he would never go through with it, he wouldn’t hurt her in the slightest through the betrayal.
She slumped down on the bed, here mind was in a state of disorientation and still reeling from the unprecedented visit of Lucifer. In her sprawled position, she fell asleep while overthinking her brain.
Waking up after a long nap, a piercing crimson eyes was fixated on her sleeping figure, but his brows were furrowed darkly, yet she felt relieved seeing his face even though his mood was obviously sour.
"Draco." She called softly as she sat up, her hands wound around him as she threw her body into his comforting warmth in embrace.
"He was here, wasn’t he?" She could hear the suppressed irritation lingering in his voice.
