Chapter 141: Intrusive Feisty Wife
Excitedly, she had tried the roadside meals and they were absolutely delicious, although Draco had warned her it wasn’t healthy so she didn’t eat much.
Proceeding with the rest of the tour, they strolled around the square, her arm looped over his own like typical lovely couples. She couldn’t help but smile throughout, her eyes twinkling with delight as she gained knowledge of the kingdom.
He cast a side long look, his gaze like a secret only shared between them and a wistful smile played on his lips as he watched her fascinated expression and listened to her share out thoughts she wasn’t afraid to spew.
"No wonder they were ridiculously happy to play with you. The townsquare is missing a playground for the children, a big one at the center would allow them have some fun, don’t you think?" Rama pointed out observingly.
"They should rather be trained to be strong, not have fun." He said with squared shoulders.
"Every child should have the privilege to enjoy their childhood, it’s what makes them a child." She retorted.
"Whatever you say love, a playground it is then."
She beamed a smile at him, a furtive glance passed between them, like a silent understanding in their eyes and he returned her smile with a genuinely sweet one.
The tour finally ended for the day, the clouds had gone dark and lightning thundered across the sky, emitting a blinding spark which indicated it would rain soon.
They went back to the horse patiently waiting for them and rode back to the castle. She couldn’t help but smile behind him while the horse galloped, every inch of the day she had spent with him was pleasant, but as soon as they got to the castle, he excused himself claiming he had somewhere important to go.
She couldn’t even argue with him if she wanted to, to avoid ruining her pleased mood, she could only wonder where he went off to again or perhaps were he was always running off to, probably to his kingly duties.
She suddenly wished they were typical villagers, at least he would always be by her side and there would be no kingly duties to interfere between them, she’d have him all to herself and not have to share him with the people.
Her face fell slightly as she washed up and got ready for bed, but she wasn’t sleepy so rather, she paced back and forth the chambers while waiting for him.
Her eyes darted to the plain door hidden in the dark shadowy corner of the room. She still hadn’t found the key yet, and she still had no idea what was beneath the door, she shrugged as she tore her eyes off it.
The last time she tried finding the key, it was apparent it was nowhere in his room, now she had a lot of questions to ask him. He was hiding too many secrets and she wasn’t comfortable with his mysterious facades.
Her brows furrowed and her mood threatened to turn sour at his mysterious nature of keeping things from her knowledge and worse, they were not any typical secrets but they seemed heavy and dark, and he was carrying them all alone.
But then, her face softened when she realized he was probably hiding his secrets from her to avoid being a burden.
Crossing her arms over her chest, she stood in front of the window and watched the rain pour relentlessly from the dark skies with rumbling thunderstorms. Streaks of rainpour beat down the window, blurring her vision to see outside.
Sighing she continued to stare out the window while different thoughts raced through her mind, as she waited for him.
Subconsciously, she touched the enchanted ruby necklace wound around her neck, a small smile enchanting her lips as memories of their shared moment in the town square flooded her head.
She suddenly felt warm hands rest upon her bare cold shoulders. She swiftly turned around with a startled gasp. Her heart suddenly calmed down when she met Draco staring down at her.
"Have you been waiting for me?" He queried with one brow raised up mischievously.
"No, of course not." She lied smoothly.
"Ahh, that’s disappointing." He said with a slightly disgruntled countenance.
"Actually, I was."
He leaned in, his breath warm against her ears as he whispered "Of course you were, I’ll be right back."
She watched him take fluid movements into the washroom, while her eyes were hooked onto his back and then, a few minutes later, he emerged out in loose pants and unclothed upper body.
"You look disturbed, love. What is it?" He queried as he cupped her face, but her eyes betrayed her as it flickered over his upper body, the silver glow of the moon penetrating through the window guided her eyesight, as it bathed his bare body, making his silvery pale skin gleam with an otherworldly allure.
"My eyes are right here love, you can have whatever you’re looking for after we’re done talking." He smirked, a hint of mischief tugging at the corner of his lips as he tilted her head up for her eyes to meet his.
She pressed her lips in a thin line, silently glaring at him while being lowkey embarrased.
"You’re keeping secrets from me and I’m not very comfortable with it." She pointed out straightforwardly.
"Ahh, secrets. It’s only a burden for you to understand, so worry not." He said with a solemn countenance as he caressed her cheeks with his thumb.
"It’s a burden we’re both supposed to carry, not only are we married, we’re also bonded, does it mean nothing to you?" Her brows creased.
"You mean everything to me, that’s the reason why I do not want to burden you with useless knowledge." He stated, his tone firm but coercingly gentle.
Her throat clogged as she looked into his eyes revealing the depths of his emotions, for a moment words failed to form before she regained her composure.
"Still, I’d be more burdened not knowing rather than knowing. If you told me, I’d be less curious and bothered knowing everything is fine." She said persuasively.
"You’re one intrusive feisty wife, aren’t you?" He said with a playful twinkle dancing in his eyes as he pinched her cheeks lightly.
"Go on and spill it out." She urged with eager ears waiting for the words to float into her ears.
"What do you want to know then?" He asked neutrally, hands dipped into his loose trouser pockets, his muscles flexing as he moved.
"Uhm, what’s behind that door?" She queried as she raised an arched eyebrow, her eyes a storm of curiosity swirling within her jade eyes as she zeroed her gaze on the door situated within the dark shadowy corner of the room, like a sinister lonely chapel leading to an unknown darkness.
His eyes immediately averted to the door, his lips curling into a sadistic smile before saying "It leads to a dungeon."
"Dungeon? Why do you have a door leading to a dungeon in your room and most importantly, what are you keeping locked up inside ?" She queried, eagerness gleaming in her wide eyes.
"You remember the darkness you felt behind those walls in the corridors?" He queried, leaving her hanging on a thread of anticipation as she nodded vigorously.
"This door leads to the dungeon behind the walls where the ’dark entity’ you felt is being imprisoned." He drawled with a dreary voice, one that sent her body rocking with fear.
"What did you imprison?" She asked, her face turning pale with fear.
"You look pale, I don’t want my angel to go to sleep with a nightmare." He said with a teasing smile.
"I’m fine, I promise I’m not scared." She exclaimed, nudging him as she clutched on his arm.
He smiled sarcastically, his crimson eyes glinting like ember coals before saying "The goddess of death."
Her brows raised up in disbelief and speechlessness.
"A-A goddess? Why is she imprisoned?" She exclaimed in utter stupefaction, her eyes widened in astonishment to reveal her state of confusion.
"Demons and gods aren’t exactly friendly comrades, but she chose to anger the wrong demon. She got the consequence of her thoughtless actions." He replied with hands crossed over his chest, his biceps bulging with his movement.
"Knowing how you don’t take disrespect lightly, why didn’t you kill her then, but instead chose to imprison her?" Rama queried, curious eyes staring up at him for answers.
"She’s the goddess of death love, she’s immortal so I could only imprison her." He pointed out and her mouth formed an ’o’ shape at the revelation.
"Can she ever escape?" She asked, a hint of caution in her tone.
"No love, I’m the only one capable of releasing her, not even Lucifer can falter her imprisonment."
She nodded thoughtfully at his assurance
"And how long have you imprisoned her?" She queried with blinking eyes.
"It’s been over a thousand years." He said nonchalantly, but then a wicked grin tore through his lips.
"A thousand years?!" She shrieked in horror.
