The Devil's Warrior Queen
Chapter 136: Your Highness

Chapter 136: Your Highness

Rama’s brows furrowed as her face turned grim, she knew he was right and not even God could save him from the monster he was, but the fact that she wholly accepted his cruel demons without even a hint of regret made her even more angry.

The fact that she loved and hated every inch of his being just left her in a state of puzzlement.

Taking in a deep breath to calm her raging inner goddess, she strolled down the corridors to her chamber while different thoughts of how to make him suffer and beg for mercy crossed her mind, as she still wasn’t over him killing that innocent maid just because of her bitter words.

And then, he had the audacity to walk out on her after suffocating her with his dark aura, and she had no idea where he had even ran off to. The reality that he had walked out on her without an excuse set her off, her fists clenched tightly as if itching to punch something, preferably his face.

Such an arrogant demon she got married to and worse, she couldn’t even resist the arrogant demon.

While lost in her train of thoughts, she came face to face with the redhead she thought she would never graze her eyes upon again. The girl halted and immediately lowered her head deeply as she bowed with a curtsy.

"Reina!" She cried out in both delight and surprise, as she was truly pleased to see her.

It suddenly dawned on her that the man she had told Reina she despised with her entire being was the same man she got married to and worse, fell in love with. A sense of shame almost overwhelmed her but she shrugged it aside.

"Your highness." The girl called politely, head still lowered to face the ground.

Rama’s face twisted with displeasure at the girl’s formality, but she couldn’t blame her. Aware of the fact that she was now the Queen of Voltaire Empire, her formal treatment would come as no surprise.

"It’s fine, you can look up." Rama said, her voice more composed as the excitement in it died down.

Reina hesitantly looked up to meet the queen’s eyes, her green eyes peering into her jade ones, like the symphony of the forest and the ocean.

"You always appear at the perfect timing." Rama said and the girl merely nodded with a smile.

"Anyways, how have you been fairing?" She queried.

"Graciously well, your highness." The girl answered.

With the clipped replies she was getting, she proceeded to go straight to the point. Typically, the maids nor servants could not engage in conversations with the queen, it was expected but still, she was a bit disappointed because she knew the relationship between her and Malika would change too.

Being the Queen of Draco had its perks, but if she had to make a preference with no issues or casualties, she’d rather be an ordinary girl, after all she’d been looking after kingdoms her entire life, it was time for a fresh breath of normalcy, one that wasn’t going to come anytime soon.

"Do you have any idea where my handmaid’s quarter is located?" She asked, but the girl hesitated a little before shaking her head in negation.

"I apologise for my lack of knowledge your highness, but I have no idea." Reina said apologetically fffwith another bow.

Now she was getting annoyed, not because of her lack of knowledge on Malika’s whereabouts, but because of the girl’s formality. After experiencing life as an ordinary girl, now the queen treatment she was getting seemed to irk her.

"Alright then, you can leave. I’ll try ringing for her again." Rama said and the girl bowed before walking away, not sparing her another glance.

Sighing, she went to her chambers and rang for Malika, as the bell for her handmaiden was connected to the middle string running down the wall. After some moments of ringing, no response was gotten, so she soon have up.

Her legs were already tired of walking around the extravagant castle, but still she took a stroll around the secret garden outside she had located at the night of the masquerade ball.

Halting in the corridors were the door leading to the garden was located, she peered her eyes at the brick wall which indicated it was a dead end.

She could feel that strange uncanny aura emanating from within the walls like she had felt that night. Her legs moved stiffly as she approached the walls with heedful eyes searching around the unyielding darkness.

Standing in front of the wall, she outstretched her hand toward it. Even without touching it, she could feel an otherwordly presence like a living entity hidden beneath the walls.

With heavy breaths, she pressed her palm against the cold wall, the chilliness it radiated caused an unnerving shiver to spread throughout her entire body.

The wall pulsed with an eerie ambiance and a dark magnetic force, it was a sinister barricade separating her from whatever darkness laid beneath those walls, a darkness that made her breath hitch and her blood run cold even without having knowledge of what lay beneath it.

Pulling her hand away dashingly, she took impulsive steps back away from the wall as she sucked in quick, sharp breaths, the darkness radiating from the wall was merely choking.

Whatever was being kept beneath those walls were no mere evil, it was an evil meant to be concealed, buried and hidden away from human knowledge. Her interest couldn’t help but be piqued about what it was, she was sure to query Draco about it later.

Going out to the secret garden, her racing heart slowly calmed down as she took in the serene view of the garden. She wondered if they were the only ones who had idea of the garden, the thought made her smile inwardly, but then her face slightly fell.

She suddenly realized how much she missed his company, even though ninety percent of the time he was teasing and annoying her.

The fragrance of the unique flowers sated the air, it was a stark contrast to the eerie corridor, it made her feel relieved and relaxed.

Laying her back on the plush grass covered floor next to the lake, she stared at the unblemished neon blue skies. Was she an overthinker? Yes, because at that serene moment, different thoughts crammed her head.

She wondered what the future held in store for her and Draco, she wondered if they would ever know peace together even with Lucifer weaved into their lives who was undoubtedly against their union. She wondered if their story would end in happiness or tragedy.

After thinking for hours, only then did she notice how dark the skies had gone, she presumed it was late noon and her eyes felt heavy, so she proceeded back into her chambers for a nap.

She was a bit angry at Draco’s long hours of absence but she slept it off as she slumped down on the soft bed filled with plush cushions.

Hours later when the sun had gone down to reveal nothing but dark greyish skies with the silver moon looming above the land, she woke up with a stretch as she heard a knock on the door.

She gasped as her eyes narrowed to the window where only darkness greeted her with streaks of silvery light from the moon.

Coincidentally, whenever she took a nap at noon, she always woke up late evening by a knock on the door.

She scampered out of bed as she rushed to the door and opened it, only to see the girl she had been searching all over the castle for standing in front of her.

"Your highness I.." The girl bowed deeply, but her words were interrupted by the sudden pull of her small body into Rama’s own as she wrapped her arms around the girl tightly, a sigh of relief escaping her lips.

"Where have you been? I’ve been searching for you all over the castle, well apparently it’s Draco’s fault, I called for you but that sly demon postponed it. Are you alright? Have you been comfortable? Well fed? Have..." She trailed off after blabbering when her eyes scrutinized her body clad in a beautiful silky outfit.

"Yes your highness, I’ve been well catered for, there’s no need to worry." Malika said, eyes facing the ground.

Rama groaned in annoyance as she pulled the girl into the room and gave her a slight push for her to sit on the bed as she sat beside her.

"Malika! Look at me!" She commanded as she tilted the girl’s head up.

Malika hesitantly faced her with fluttering lashes.

"Stop acting that way with me, it’s annoying. Call me Rama from now on despite others and your behaviour towards me should be as it was, if you fail to act that way I will personally order your executuon for disobeying the queen." Rama ordered with a stern tone, her eyes firm and hard.

Malika’s eyes enlarged in horror at her words. "You’d kill me?!" The girl blurted out.

Rama pinched her chubby cheeks lightly "Of course not silly girl, but do as I say."

"Alright then, but if the king finds out about this, he won’t be happy. I heard he killed a maid for disrespecting you earlier. Who knows what he’ll do to me if he finds out I treat you less than a queen neither do I add your title. You’re a queen now and should be treated..."

Rama placed her index finger on her lips to silence her. "Fret not, he won’t harm you, not on my watch. I’ll behead him before he eveb thinks of hurting you."

Malika gasped loudly, panic etched on her pale face as she said "Please don’t say that, it’s treason against the king even if you’re the queen. If he hears you..."

"If he hears me, I doubt he’ll do anything about it. I have more power against him than you think. We’ve been....bonded." Rama revealed and she saw the girl’s eyes widen even more.

"It’s a long story Malika, you wouldn’t understand even if I took the whole day to explain, but I want you to know that whatever I did and whoever I chose isn’t because of you, it’s just me. And I know what you’re going to say ’I thought you despised Draco’. Well, I thought so too but the bond is beyond human comprehension, even I don’t fully understand it yet, it’s just unexplainable." Rama said in one breath.

Malika just sat frozen as she listened to her, silence hung in the air before she finally broke it.

"So you’re saying that you’re in love with Draco and he loves you too? And then he bonded your souls together with the bond bite which is irreversible? To the man you claimed you loathed, is indeed bewildering." Malika said in a murmur.

"It is indeed, but I feel bad for lord Damien. I should apologize but I have no idea where he’s gone." Rama said thoughtfully as she paced back and forth in circles.

"He’s gone back to his mansion, indeed I feel sorry for him too, he seemed to have really loved you." Malika said thoughtfully in a whisper.

"Are you trying to make me feel worse? Congratulations cause it worked." Rama snapped with rolling eyes in a tease but the poor girl didn’t get it.

"I-I am sorry your highness for my choice of words." Malika said, stumbling upon her words like a child who had been caught with fingers dipped in soup.

"Don’t highness me silly girl, didn’t I tell you not to call me that? Rama said with a slight chuckle, amused at her behavior.

"Oh right but if the King hears me, he’ll have my head for sure." Malika said in a frightened whisper.

The door suddenly opened and a voice followed.

"Whose head am I using to adorn your dressing table, love?" His baritone voice echoed in the room.
