Chapter 59: Let Me Come With You

Chapter 59: Let Me Come With You

The world noticed the strange phenomenon that happened above the sky. Others chose to ignore it, but not the Celestial Seer. As soon as she saw the blue sun shining in the atmosphere, she closed her eyes and activated her Legacy.

"Why can’t I see a thing?" She asked, irritated.

Then she tried again, clearing all of her thoughts to calm her mind, but several seconds passed and she still saw nothing. Even a glimpse of where it came from didn’t enter her vision. This was the first time that it happened to her.

"Fine! If you don’t want to, I won’t!" She exclaimed as soon as she opened her eyes and stared at the blue ball of light.

She bit her thumb while staring at it, and her anxiety started to affect her mind. In the past few days, she had been having a constant dream about a female person, and she believed that this woman was somewhat related to her dire prophecy. Though the events in her dream were different from it, the fact that she saw the woman being surrounded by blue flames meant one thing. Maybe she would be the person they were searching for—the one who wielded the blue flames aside from the Demon King.

And now, a blue sun was right above the clouds; the first thing that she thought upon seeing it was the blue flames due to their similar color. From her room, she went downstairs with the plan to go outside to get a better view of the sun. However, the temple knights blocked her path and forbade her to step out of the place.

"We’re sorry, Saintess, but we can’t allow you with this one," one of the knights said.

"No, you’re mistaken. I just want to go in the garden," Ave Gayle explained her side, but the men clad in white armor remained at their position.

"It’s an order from the Pontiff; a report came earlier, telling the effects of the blue sun above. Those who got direct exposure to its sunlight suffered from hallucinations," the knight explained.

"Hallucinations?" The seer uttered, and the knights nodded at her.

Then she immediately went back upstairs and walked towards the small balcony. She let herself bath to its sunlight and activated her Legacy at the same time.

Pieces of images began to emerge in her mind, and the next moment, she saw herself getting choked by a braided dark elf. She tried to free herself, but the elf’s grip was too much for her to handle.

She was hanging by a thin thread. Her breathing was getting rough, but everything went back to normal as soon as a jet-black arrow pierced the elf’s head.

Her vision ended with it, and the moment she opened her eyes, she was already lying on the floor, and the blue sun above was nowhere to be seen. She stayed in that position while catching her breath. Beads of sweat could be found dripping from her forehead.

’How should I interpret that?’ She thought while recalling the scene that her Legacy showed.

. . . . .

A few moments ago, at the gates of the city, the empire’s prince was busy tapping his foot while staring at the smoke covering the entire capital. The people were shouting while others were on their knees, crying and begging for help.

Kreigster looked around, confused by what was going on. All of this happened after the light went off; the world turned dark for a second, and a blue sun rose up in the sky afterward. Its size was several times bigger than the real thing.

"Damn it!" He cursed as he saw that the crowd’s emotions were getting out of control.

He tried his best to analyze the situation, but he just couldn’t understand what was happening.

’If it’s an illusion, why am I not getting affected?’ He thought while staring at the strange ball of light above.

The people’s breakdown continued for several minutes until the blue sun vanished bit by bit. Almost everyone returned to their usual state; however, several of them didn’t make it in time. They lost their minds and died during the process.

Then, after almost an hour, as they still waited for the smoke to disperse, they felt a light tremor, but they were not troubled by it. They all thought that it was a normal phenomenon during a fight. However, panic attacked their minds as soon as they felt strong vibrations, which made the ground crack. Some people even fell into the crevice, while those who could levitate flew up in the air. Even Kreigster lost his balance and chose to go up.

The disaster lasted for several minutes, and the people outside the gate dropped in number. Most of them were eaten by the crevice, and their loved ones were left there, wailing beside the narrow fissure.

The empire’s prince clenched his fist as soon as he looked at their faces filled with sadness and fear. All this time, he considered himself powerful enough to face any challenges the world would gave him, but right now, he felt helpless upon seeing the people suffer around him.

’How can someone like me be an emperor?’ He thought while covering his eyes due to frustration.

Then he shook his head and moved closer to the smoke. He raised his hand and summoned a huge flame.

"Let me in!" He yelled and threw the flame into the smoke, and his brows knitted as soon as he saw it made no difference, but he stayed focused and tried it one more time.

"If I give up here, I’m no longer his son!" He exclaimed.

Then he closed his eyes and concentrated. Sparks of purple flame started to erupt throughout his body. He became a human torch, and the size of the flame continued to increase with every second that passed.

Afterward, as soon as the flame became taller than the castle wall. It spread sideways, which caused the people to stay away from the prince. It gained a span of a kilometer after a couple of minutes of channeling. Then it vanished in a blink of an eye, along with the prince.

The next second, a monster-like creature appeared above. Its majestic wings were covered with purple flames, while the long feathers on its tail danced in the air, causing embers of flame to fly.

Kreigster was also up there, standing at the head of the phoenix. Then the legendary bird let out a breath-taking howl before flapping its wings. The people wailing on the ground stopped for a moment as they all cherished the sight above them. Witnessing the crown prince’s Legacy in action was not an everyday occurrence after all.

"Burn it down," Kreigster commanded the phoenix to disperse the smoke covering the city.

Like an obedient child, the creature obeyed as soon as the prince gave out his order. It let out a devastating roar, and the whole city was engulfed in flames in less than a minute.

The purple flame ate the smoke and even melted a part of the city walls, but as soon as Kreigster snapped his fingers, the flames vanished into thin air.

However, his eyes widened upon seeing the state of the city inside the walls. The streets were filled with dead bodies, buildings were destroyed, and the castle was gone. The cries of agony of the people who lost their loved ones and homes were reverberating in the place.

"This doesn’t make sense," he uttered, unable to believe the total destruction right before his eyes.

. . . . .

Zeno jumped down into the hole he had made in the ground. The surface made from dragon scales burst into smaller particles. It couldn’t withstand the impact of his punch.

The interior of the underground room was dark. The light coming from the hole was not enough to lighten up the place, but this didn’t bother the demon at all. However, as he looked around, his face turned grim. There was nothing inside aside from the pillars that used to support the structure.

"I guess I’m a little bit late. It looks like I’m not the first one to arrive here," he uttered, somewhat disappointed.

Afterward, he glanced in the direction of something that resembled a door. He walked towards it and examined it for any traces that he could find that would lead to the culprit regarding the disappearance of the whole treasury, but there were none.

Then he decided to leave the place, but as he walked into the center of the room, he felt and saw a familiar energy that made him smile. It was nearing the point of disappearing, but as his eyes were sensitive in this aspect, he managed to identify it.

"It’s him, isn’t it? That vampire sure knows how to surprise me," he said.

As soon as he leaped up, the first thing he noticed was the giant creature above the sky. It was near the walls and far away from his place, but due to its size, he saw it easily.

The smoke acted as a barrier to prevent anyone from entering and exiting the city. It was like a two-way mirror that prevented others from the outside from seeing what was happening inside the capital, yet those who were on the inside had no problem seeing the outside despite the thick smoke.

After that, the phoenix engulfed the whole city with its purple flame, and the smoke disappeared bit by bit. Zeno just stared at the creature as the walls melted. Then he saw how the huge flame vanished in an instant.

"They said that those who could command the flames like an extension of their body were destined to be rulers," he stated without averting his eyes from the phoenix.

"The very reason why I don’t want to have flames in my arsenal," he added, and he walked in the direction of the other city gates, which would lead to the heart of the empire.

However, as he walked near the gate, there was a man with an unusual hairstyle who stood up upon seeing him step closer. Zeno ignored and passed him without a word, but the man held his coat to stop him from moving forward.

"Let me come with you," he said, his eyes filled with determination.

The demon was caught off guard by the man’s words, so it took him several seconds to reply.

"Why?" He asked.

The man stared at him before giving out his answer.

"Like I’ve said, I can’t let a demon roam around in the human nation without any surveillance," he replied.

And Zeno grinned upon hearing the man, then tapped the hand that was holding him and started to walk again.

"I don’t mind; just don’t hinder any of my naps," he said.
