The Demon King's First General -
Chapter 200: Termination Of Contract
Chapter 200: Termination Of Contract
The Enchantress of Time gritted her teeth in annoyance upon hearing the demon’s statement. With the black dragon guarding the path above, they had no other choice but to force their way out or, if the two of them could take down the Demon King’s General.
"Djaleryse, do you have any plan in mind? I’m afraid it’s a do-or-die situation for us," Celestine asked.
Upon hearing her question, Djaleryse leaped out of the umbrella as well and stood beside the enchantress. She looked at her summon still fighting the soul devourer.
From her perspective, they were in a stalemate as the cthulhu was swinging its massive hammer while the silver-haired demon blocked and dodged the attack.
"Maybe my familiar could defeat him," Djaleryse commented.
"You’re expecting too much. He’s not treating your monster like an opponent; he’s just playing with it," Celestine retorted.
Afterward, the enchantress glanced at the black dragon and spoke again.
"I’ll handle the traitor, pin down the general, and if I can defeat that dragon before you die, we win," she added with strong conviction.
"Hey! That’s mean!" Djaleryse answered with a chuckle.
Celestine didn’t bother to reply to her companion; instead, she propelled herself upward and faced the black dragon.
"Without your Legacy, don’t even think of winning against me," Blackwell blurted out, his prideful gaze staring at the enchantress.
"But you don’t have the ability to defeat me as well," Celestine replied.
Afterward, she let go of her umbrella, and it began to spin at unimaginable speed. With a wave of her hand, blue flames emerged and devoured its red canopy, and a wide smile flashed on her face.
Then, she pushed the object towards the dragon’s direction.
"And one more thing, I’m not here to win against you because I am here to dispose of a traitor," Celestine said, her voice cold and heartless.
Blackwell stared at the incoming umbrella. At first, he wanted to smack it down, but the thought of the Demon King’s blue flames prevented him from doing so. He knew that if handled wrong, it would be capable of incinerating his scales.
Thus, he contemplated a much better approach to the situation, and while doing so, he flapped his wings and flew around the enchantress.
"Why are you running away? Don’t tell me you’re afraid of my flames," Celestine asked, provoking the dragon.
Then, she aimed her palm on Blackwell’s path, and as soon as a sphere of blue flames emerged in front of it, she flicked it towards the massive creature.
Blackwell glanced at the outburst of flames coming straight at him. If he continued moving, he would be hit by the fireball, but if he stopped or changed his direction, the blazing umbrella would reach him.
Faced with no other option, Blackwell increased his speed and took the hit of the sphere of fire, blocking it with one of his wings.
’So, this is the Lord’s flame; it’s hot, a lot hotter than the purple flames that those humans wield, but it’s doable,’
Then, despite his scales burning, he didn’t stop flapping his wings and went straight to the enchantress.
Upon seeing the massive beast coming closer, Celestine summoned back the umbrella and prepared to defend.
Blackwell swiped his claws from above with the intention of tearing the woman in half; however, the spinning umbrella blocked his attack, and small orbs of fire flew out from it. Upon contact with the black dragon, they exploded, causing a massive explosion in the sky.
Then, with the smoke still present, covering the creature’s silhouette, a thunderous roar echoed, and a sudden outburst of black energy struck the enchantress.
Celestine tried to block the dragon’s breath, but the umbrella’s canopy and her curtain of flames weren’t enough to protect herself from harm. Her body was almost incinerated into oblivion, with a few limbs missing. She stared at her opponent and clicked her tongue in annoyance.
"You really live up to the expectations as the Dragon of Chaos," Celestine uttered while coughing up blood.
Then, her body lit up and vanished along with her umbrella before reappearing in the same spot, unscathed from the attack.
"And your time rewinding is truly a pain as well," Blackwell replied.
Both of their eyes held each other’s gaze while their minds were in the process of thinking, wondering how to outwit one another.
. . . . .
The soul devourer blocked the massive hammer with the scythe’s shaft as it went straight at him from above. Based on its mindless attacks, he could kill his opponent in just a second, but he chose not to do so.
For the fact that he wanted to observe the monster a little longer. He was curious about it to the point that he treated its existence as a riddle waiting to be solved.
’Is this really even possible?’ Zeno pondered while evading the creature’s continuous advance.
During their bouts a few seconds earlier, the demon noticed something peculiar on the cthulhu: it had a soul, and yet it didn’t hold any kind of Legacy.
’It’s not dormant, just empty,’ he expressed inside his thoughts.
Afterward, he glanced at the blue-haired woman standing in the distance, watching their fights.
"Hey! You!" He called her out.
Then, as soon as he caught Djaleryse’s attention, he let the words escape from his lips.
"Release this creature from the shackles of your Legacy! I want to have a proper conversation with it," he ordered and kicked it towards the side.
It was sent tumbling on the ground and slammed its head on a large tree trunk. But upon contact with the tree, the leaves started to turn black, decaying to its death.
Meanwhile, Djaleryse tilted her head in confusion upon hearing the demon’s words.
"And why would I grant your request?" She asked.
Then she looked at the cthulhu, and as she raised her hand, the monster stood up and charged towards the demon. However, Zeno didn’t stand still; he dashed and leaped upward, which caused the creature to halt its movement.
Then, it looked above, but the moment it did, what it saw was a jet-black gauntlet coming straight at its face. The cthulhu failed to react, and it soon found itself lying on the ground with the demon standing on its chest.
"Who says that it’s a request? It’s an order, you dimwit tamer!" Zeno exclaimed, his voice cold and ruthless.
Afterward, he averted his gaze from the monster and glared at the woman. Upon seeing his dull, cold eyes, Djaleryse took a step backward.
Then, she raised her hand and transferred a portion of her energy into the monster.
"Stand!" She yelled, frustration now present on his face.
The next second, the blood seeping next to her left eye flowed like a waterfall on her cheek, but despite the pain, she continued to give her energy to the creature.
"Stand and kill him!" She repeated out of desperation.
Her usual playful composure was now eaten by fear. All that she wanted now was to escape from the demon. Thus, she held back no further; countless creatures began to emerge, lining up behind her back.
However, before they materialized in full, the cthulhu absorbed all of her energy, and the summoning was cancelled.
"W-What happened?" She asked with eyes widened in shock.
Seconds later, she fell on the ground, her body trembling and her head spinning in circles. Then, she vomited blood, and her vision started to get blurred.
"E-Energy burnout?" She stuttered.
’No, impossible! I have a lot of energy reserves,’ she contemplated.
Afterward, Djaleryse felt a sudden outburst of immense pressure a short distance away from her. At first, she thought that it came from the demon; however, upon taking a glance at its direction, her jaw dropped, and she realized what exactly happened to her.
"A backlash... A forced termination of contract? There’s no way..." she uttered, shaking her head while looking at the cthulhu, who now regained its freedom from her grasp.
. . . . .
A magic circle materialized on the creature’s massive body. Then cracks started to appear on the surface of the complex pattern before it shattered into thin air.
"A lowly peasant! Who are you to dare step on me?" A loud, hoarse, terrifying voice bellowed throughout the forest.
Then the cthulhu raised its fist, grabbed the demon standing on top of its chest, and threw him away like a piece of pebble.
The soul devourer was sent hundreds of meters away, destroying numerous trees in the process, and only stopped upon slamming his back on a thick, large boulder.
However, instead of feeling enraged, Zeno’s lips curled in an upward grin. He stood up, and the gauntlets on his arms disappeared. It reverted back to its cube-like form that fidgeted between the demon’s fingertips.
Then, dark clouds gathered in the sky, followed by a raging thunder. Soon after, black lightning descended and struck the silver-haired demon.
His body vanished while a streak of black current of electricity zipped towards the cthulhu. As a response, the creature raised its hammer to block the lightning coming straight at its direction.
However, to its surprise, the electricity turned downward, and before it even realized, a heavy, solid punch struck its abdomen, which pushed it a short distance away, with its feet scraping the ground.
Then, it fell on one knee and raised its head to look at the black-haired man.
"I already received your greeting; that was mine returning the favor," Zeno stated, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
