Chapter 167: Sinner’s Confinement

A while ago, as Cinn entered the underground prison, knights guarding the entrance greeted her with their spears and swords.

No questions asked, they lunged at her the moment they sensed her presence. The hallway was dark and a little too cramped for a big fight; however, Cinn just didn’t even bother herself to draw her sword.

With just a slight gesture of her hand, the prison guards were set ablaze even before their weapons reached her.

"Pathetic fools," Cinn murmured as she sauntered deeper into the area.

Upon reaching the stairs towards the first level of the underground prison, a knife flew past her cheek. It resulted in a slight scratch that soon disappeared as well.

"Impressive regeneration. You’re a vampire, I presume," a voice of a man echoed and was soon followed by light footsteps.

"And a high-ranking one, may I know what your business is in this filthy prison of ours?" He added as his silhouette appeared below the stairs.

With knives between his fingers and a mask covering his face, the man stared at Cinn, waiting for an answer. However, the daughter of the demon king showed no changes in her emotion. She made a little step forward, and in the next second, she vanished from her position. Afterward, the man found his back facing against the wall, and he felt a hot sensation piercing his neck. Pleasure and overwhelming ecstasy corrupted his mind, taking away all of his energy to move. Then, his complexion began to pale while his eyes turned dim, and the moment Cinn let him go, his body fell on the cold, dusted floor with two punctured holes dripping with blood next to his neck.

"Tastes like shit," Cinn commented as she wiped the bloodstain from her lips.

Then, she continued moving inside the passage, and after a few strides, she reached an area with candles hanging on both sides of the walls. A prison cell was positioned between each of these lights.

"Hey! Young lady!" The prisoners called out as soon as they noticed Cinn’s presence.

"What are you doing here? Are you planning a prison break? Help me get out from here!" Others even exclaimed their desire to leave the place.

However, Cinn ignored their pleas; she didn’t bother herself to give them a glance. With this, she reached the end of the hall, and another stairway positioned on the right side greeted her.

Without wasting another second, she traversed on this path. While walking, her brows furrowed and her grip on her cane got tightened.

Her expression turned dark, and then she dashed towards the end of the stairs. A silhouette of a man was standing right before her eyes, and it was not just any other person.

White hair paralleled into hers and cyan-colored eyes exactly as she remembered.

. . . . .

The Sinner’s Confinement, the underground prison located underneath the city of Embercrown’s Empire, was a place filled with hundreds of prisoners. Despite how big it was, the structure of its building was not that complicated. It consisted of only three floors beneath the ground; the first level was the cell of humans who committed petty acts such as thievery, assault, and disorderly conduct. They were given a set period of time to reflect on their wrongdoings.

While on the second level, people in this place were sentenced for their whole lives. Even a carriage full of gold would not be enough to set them free. They were those who threatened the empire’s safety. Arson, attacking a knight on duty, and committing murders were just a few examples of their committed crimes.

These two floors were the only ones known in public, and the existence of the third level was being hidden even from other royalties.

Known as the Chamber of Lies and Truth, the third level was the containment of war prisoners. Demons, beastmen, even elves and dwarves could be found inside the cell from this floor.

They were tortured while keeping them alive to get knowledge about their races, about their goals. Having to retain even a bit of sanity after experiencing the endless suffering from this terrifying place was considered a miracle.

Being ruled by an existence called the Plague Warden, the third level of the Sinner’s Confinement was not a very good place to visit.

. . . . .

"Don’t impersonate that man before me!" Cinn exclaimed as she swung the cane towards the white-haired person.

The man raised his left hand and caught it; he stared at Cinn’s eyes, and the edges of his lips curled into a grin. Then, he let go of the cane and assaulted Cinn. A punch in the abdomen, enough for the demon princess to be sent several meters away.

She was startled from the strength of the impact, but she didn’t let the man control the momentum.

"Who are you?" Cinn asked as she straightened her posture and tapped the cane onto the solid ground.

"If I’m not mistaken, I’m the one here who is supposed to be asking questions," the man answered, smiling with a satisfying grin.

"Do you somewhat know this face? I am the replica of the demon king, Cinhard Beelze," he added; his laughter reverberated across the hallway.

Then, he made a step forward, and flashes of lightning began to scatter around him.

"Who are you to infiltrate this place? Are you here for him, the dog of that shit-ass demon king?" He stated and fired a bunch of lightning bolts towards the intruder.

However, Cinn disappeared from his point of view, and the attack hit no one. Afterward, he conjured a lightning armor and a sword in his right hand before entering into a stance. He began to scan the surroundings, searching for the woman’s presence, and the moment he noticed it above, he made a huge slash upward with the thought of cutting his opponent in half.

But all of these were already predicted by Cinn. She used a platform of energy, stepped on it, and tumbled in the air before changing the course of her attack.

During this moment, she unleashed the flame raging inside her. The majestic, blue-colored flame wrapped around her cane, covering its shaft, and a white outline carved from the handle down to its tip formed a translucent, burning blade.

"B-Blue flames?" The man felt stupefied upon witnessing the sword going straight down on his head.

He tried to move away, but a scorching pain prevented him from doing so as a chain made of blue flames wrapped around his leg.

Without anything left to do, he raised his weapon with the thought of blocking the sword attack, but his lightning disintegrated upon the contact from the blue flames.

"No!" He shouted before he was cut in half, his voice trembling in fear.

Not a trace of him remained; even his ashes were burned into nothingness.

"As far as I remember, my father doesn’t play lightnings," Cinn uttered.

Then she was about to move forward when she heard a series of claps coming from above. She diverted her gaze towards the direction of the sound, and he saw three people moving down the stairs.

One was an old man, and on his left side was a woman with denim-colored hair. Behind the two of them was a man holding an hourglass.

"We greet the great demon king’s successor; the pleasure is ours," the old man started the conversation.

Then he looked at the sword in the woman’s right hand.

"Ahh, the Translucent Inferno. Truly remarkable, as its name implies," he added, smiling.

Cinn didn’t answer; instead, she gave them a questionable stare.

"We’re not here to cause you trouble; we’re sent to help you release that guy," Djaleryse stated.

’Humans?’ Cinn thought.

"I don’t need any help," she replied and turned around to leave.

The trio watched her get away; they stared at her silhouette disappearing from the dark hallway.

"So what do we do now, Professor?" Djaleryse asked while scanning the surroundings.

"We’ll keep a close eye on her if she encounters something enough to threaten her life. We’ll come to her rescue," Professor Cid answered, and he began to follow Cinn’s energy traces.

"Don’t do anything foolish, Djaleryse. Remember, our mission is her safety, nothing else matters," he added.

. . . . .

Cinn continued on the path ahead; due to the happenings above ground, the knights guarding the place were scarce, and a few of them were not even enough to make the princess of demons halt on her track.

Like on the first floor, the people inside the cells were also calling out for Cinn, asking her to free them, but they were just a bunch of nothing in her eyes.

Human criminals, the lowest of the low in human society, looked at Cinn like how a predator looked down on their prey. They didn’t see her as someone special; the others even stared at her with lustful eyes.

"Hey, beautiful, free me, and I’ll definitely give you a good time," one of the prisoners shouted as soon as Cinn passed on her cell.

He was drooling and even wiped his tongue around his mouth.

"Hey! Come ba—" he yelled once more, but he failed to finish his sentence as his head fell down next to his feet.

"Only Him has the right to look at her with a desirous gaze," Professor Cid stated with his hands behind his back.

The other prisoners who saw this scene lost their voices; they gulped and slowly moved backwards towards the farthest part of their cell. They didn’t even bother themselves to look at the old man walking in the hallway.

To kill someone without lifting a finger made the prisoners worried sick. However, a man from one corner of a room opened his eyes and smirked.

"Untamed Crowns," he whispered.
