Chapter 125: The Ruthless Ruler
"Alright."
He and the Clone of Agares rushed forward, targeting adventurers who were only around level 35 or at Stage 3. But still, they had the guts to cause chaos in the city.
The two of them were way stronger than the adventurers. The adventurers tried to fight back because they had more people, but their attacks looked slow in the eyes of Agares and his clone.
Agares swung his sword, applying saber swordsmanship properly, blocking several attacks, and killing the adventurers in just a few deadly moves.
Throats were slit, stomachs stabbed, limbs cut off, some bled out—these were the results of Agares’ rage.
The adventurers realized they couldn’t beat Agares and his clone. The power gap was just too big.
Not just the road in front of Milenia’s house was covered in blood—the whole main street of the city looked the same.
Adventurers tried to run away, hiding in houses. But Agares could easily sense where they were.
Out of the 150 adventurers who attacked Milenia’s house, Agares and his clone had killed 121 so far. Only 29 left. They had to be wiped out before morning came.
"Please spare me, Sir! I was just—"
SLICE!
Before he could even finish, Agares slashed his mouth open from neck to neck, then stabbed his throat hard with the sword. Blood splashed all over Agares’ clothes and face, but he didn’t care.
"17 left. Find them fast!" Agares ordered. His clone nodded in understanding.
Through his eyes, he saw many adventurers run into houses earlier to hide. Clone Agares didn’t hesitate to go into each house and search inside.
If he found adventurers, kill them and cut off their heads!
Agares kept walking down the main street of the city, full of corpses and adventurers screaming for help. His eyes were cold, his grip on the sword tight, and he walked without hesitation.
If he saw an adventurer in front of him, he would kill them.
Nan and Goro looked shocked. One hundred fifty adventurers were tortured and on the brink of death by Rey.
No—Goro noticed something when he saw Agares’ face, walking alone through the city’s main street, clothes, face, and hair stained in blood.
Agares stopped in front of his house, seeing Nan and Goro instinctively take a step back in fear.
"Don’t come out unless you want me to kill you!"
"O-Okay."
Agares went quiet again and turned to the side, spotting a female adventurer coming out of a house with a panicked look.
He raised his sword and threw it hard at the woman. The blade of Shadepiercer pierced right through her head. She collapsed to the ground, twitching and dead within seconds.
Agares reached out his hand to catch his sword again. Through the shared vision with his clone, he could count how many adventurers were left.
"12 more."
Agares and his clone searched every house, killing any adventurer they found. They checked every corner of the city, killing anyone hiding behind rocks.
They kept doing it until night fell. The city turned silent and still, no more activity except the sound of swords cutting through flesh.
Agares wouldn’t stop until he killed every adventurer who attacked Milenia.
By midnight, Agares heard quiet sobs coming from the small forest in the city. He walked toward the sound, finding a girl dressed like an adventurer crying while hiding behind a big rock, holding a bow and arrow.
"Idiot," Agares said harshly, startling the girl.
She gasped and stood up, wiping her tears and aiming her arrow at him. But in a flash, Agares lunged forward and cut off her hands in one strike.
"AAAAAAKKKKHHHHHH!"
The girl collapsed, seeing both her hands severed. Blood poured nonstop. She fell limp, her face pale. Agares stood next to her.
He stepped on her chest, then stabbed his sword into her mouth. The girl panicked even more, crying with her face red in fear.
"Who came up with the idea of the Midgard Conqueror Group?"
Agares raised his sword to let her talk. Hopeless and scared, she had no choice but to say who told them all to attack the city.
"Someone from the Grand Empire."
"The Grand Empire?"
"She called herself the Honored Lady. No one knows her real identity."
"Please... I just joined because the money reward was huge," the girl said.
"Your life is as cheap as the price she offered. Disgusting!"
He drove his sword deep into her left chest until it pierced the ground. In seconds, the girl died from a fatal stab to the heart. Nothing could save her.
’The Honored Lady?’
’Who is she really?’
Clone Agares arrived at the forest, saying he had gathered lots of severed heads from the adventurers who attacked the city. The total wasn’t 150—but 175.
Agares swung his sword and cut off the girl’s head. Blood sprayed, and her head rolled across the ground. He grabbed it and handed it to his clone.
"You know what to do."
"I understand."
He went back to the city center to do what Agares had in mind. Agares, on the other hand, flew away from the forest toward Milenia’s house in the middle of the night.
He glanced down and saw all the actual residents of the city still gathered in his mansion, taking shelter as ordered.
Not just them—he also saw nearly half the city’s main street soaked in the blood of the dead adventurers. Agares stopped briefly on top of a pile of 175 human heads, holding out his hand forward.
Hundreds of dark essences floated and gathered in his hand, all absorbed by him. He needed around 500 dark essences to create a dark bomb, one powerful enough to bring disaster to a whole city or kingdom.
So far, he had collected 223 dark essences. He still needed 277 more to make the bomb. He planned to use it to make Caer Vireth suffer.
After dealing with them, Agares flew to Milenia’s house and landed right in front of the gate. He saw the maids pacing anxiously in the front yard.
Seeing Agares return, they rushed toward him and told him about Milenia’s condition.
"Sir, Milenia’s water just broke."
"We have to call the physician to help deliver the baby."
Agares was shocked. He flew off again to his mansion. He had to hurry if he wanted to save Milenia and the baby.
When he arrived, Agares landed hard in the front yard, still covered in blood. The townspeople were terrified. Nan came over to ask him,
"What’s wrong?"
"Where’s the physician?"
A middle-aged woman raised her hand—Agares recognized her. She had done Milenia’s pregnancy checkups before.
"Come with me. Milenia’s about to give birth."
