Chapter 107: Return to Dungeon Exploring
Chapter 107: Return to Dungeon Exploring
"Huh? What do you mean?" asked Agares.
"Isn’t the city of Berdiver far from the Red Line?"
"That’s right. That’s why this is so strange—it’s never happened before."
’What’s really going on? Could there have been a demon clan hiding among the humans all this time?’ Agares wondered.
’If that’s true, then humans will never truly be safe.’
Nolan went on to explain that the kingdom and the empire were working together to investigate the case, no matter the situation. Agares nodded.
The appearance of demons in the middle of a human city was not normal—it might be part of a plan by the demons to bring down humanity with one massive blow.
Agares had no idea, even though he had a dark affinity and was associated with demon clans. But that didn’t mean he had access to their thoughts or plans.
He didn’t even know the whereabouts of demon clan members who might be blending into human society.
"Many people died horribly. That city became a dead zone, now ruled with thousands of monsters."
"How’s the Thorn Family?" asked Agares.
Nolan shook his head and explained that Erika was the only one left. She and other adventurers were working together to reclaim the city from the monsters’ grip.
Though he admitted, Berdiver would never return to how it was.
"Erika, huh?"
’What will Louise do when she finds out the Thorn Family has been destroyed?’thought Agares.
"All right. Thank you."
He gave a nod. Agares and Nolan parted ways—Nolan returned to Goro’s tavern, and Agares made his way back to Milenia’s home.
The news about Berdiver’s destruction still shocked Agares, but he had no idea what caused such a sudden attack from the demon clan.
Logically, places like the Zoragul Border or the city of Hurdor were more likely to be attacked since they were closer to the Red Line.
But Nolan had told him that the border and Hurdor were perfectly fine when Berdiver was attacked. That made the situation even stranger and more suspicious.
Agares’s working theory was that demon clan members had blended into the population and waited for a command to destroy the city. In that case, Berdiver’s fall would make more sense.
Still, returning to the surface and dealing with the situation wasn’t Agares’s goal for now. He was only about four floors away from the 80th level, then 23 more to reach the deepest part of the dungeon.
That meant he was much closer to the bottom than to the surface, even though he could use a teleport token.
But that was just symbolic. His real purpose—getting the Lumen Astra sword—was much closer than avenging Caer Vireth.
So, Agares would stay focused on his original mission: to claim the Lumen Astra.
The door to Milenia’s home opened. No one was in the living room when the clock struck 10 p.m. Agares had figured they were already asleep.
He climbed the stairs and stopped right in front of Milenia’s room. As promised earlier, he would sleep beside her that night.
The door creaked open. Inside, Milenia was peacefully asleep in her pajamas. Not just Milenia—Aoi was curled up beside her, completely cozy.
"My goodness, these two," he whispered with a smile.
Agares changed into the sleepwear available in Milenia’s room. Once he was done, he climbed into bed and lay down next to Milenia.
She stirred briefly but then fell back asleep, gently wrapping her arm around Agares’s body.
The three of them rested peacefully that night.

The Next Morning
City of Midgard
As planned, Agares and Aoi set off to explore the dungeon again, aiming for the deepest floor.
Historically, the deepest floor ever reached was Floor 80. Now, Agares had the chance to make it there, considering his last recorded exploration was at Floor 76.
Milenia escorted them to the crystal stone used for teleportation. She stepped forward and handed over a few items—HP and Mana potions—for Agares.
"No need. You’ll probably need them later," Agares replied.
"There’s a Merchant Lo down there, so I’m not worried about running out of potions."
"Still, keep them with you and stay safe. I’ll be waiting for your return."
In the end, Agares accepted the potions and stored them in his magic pouch.
Milenia gave him a tight hug, and Agares returned it. Aoi also wanted a hug—she leapt onto Agares’s shoulder to reach Milenia.
"Both of you, take good care of yourselves."
"I understand."
After their short goodbye, a bright blue light engulfed Agares and Aoi. In an instant, they vanished from the city and reappeared on Floor 76, ready to descend to Floor 77.
Milenia watched them disappear in the light of teleportation. She smiled and turned back toward her home.
But without her knowing, Jacquess had been observing the close bond between her and Agares—the very man who challenged him the night before.
Unnoticed by Mina, Jacquess began walking toward Milenia. She narrowed her eyes, sensing someone approaching.
"Who are you?" Milenia asked.
"I saw you hugging that man in the black cloak. Are you his lover?" Jacquess asked.
"No, I’m his wife," Milenia said, exaggerating.
"A wife, huh? That makes you even more interesting."
Jacquess stepped closer, the scent of perfume from Milenia’s body and clothes clouding his thoughts.
But unfortunately for him, Milenia had made a commitment to Agares. She would stay loyal to him, no matter how many men showed interest.
In fact, she was disgusted by the lustful look on Jacquess’s face.
Gracefully, Milenia raised her hand. Sharp ice thorns shot from the ground, trapping Jacquess. The sound caught the attention of his party.
"Jacquess?" Nolan shouted.
Mina and the others were visibly shocked. Milenia saw more of Jacquess’s companions arriving and used the same spell on them.
Mina, Nolan, and the two others were immobilized, trapped in sharp icy thorns rising from the earth.
"What the—"
"Are these your friends?" Milenia asked Nolan.
"Yes."
"Then control them, before I throw all of you into the dungeon!"
"Who are you?" asked Nolan.
"I’m Milenia. I rule this city."
"And the man who was with me is Rey. He’s currently exploring the dungeon."
"Tch! Probably just some low-level floor," Jacquess muttered bitterly.
Milenia stood silently at Jacquess’s attitude, then burst into laughter at his ignorance. She thought it was ridiculous.
They probably couldn’t even reach the floor Agares had already conquered.
But Jacquess’s arrogance in front of someone as powerful as Milenia was unnecessary.
"What floor do you think my husband is exploring?"
"Probably Floor 54 or 57. He’s a coward."
"Idiot!"
"He’s currently challenging Floor 77."
