Chapter 105: The Power of 2nd Evolve

Agares and Milenia stayed in the backyard while watching Aoi’s evolution process. Not long after the evolution began, a system panel appeared in front of Agares, surprising him since this was his first time seeing a pet’s evolution.

[Pet Evolve Duration:]

[00:02:45:12]

He saw that Aoi’s evolution would take about three hours. Milenia nodded. She already knew the general durations for different pet evolutions.

Since Aoi’s evolution level was still low, only level two, the process wouldn’t take too long. Agares and Milenia could wait while relaxing in the small pavilion in the yard.

Milenia’s pregnancy made Agares more strict about what she could or couldn’t consume. He took away many wine bottles from her, not allowing her to drink alcohol until she gave birth.

Agares didn’t want anything bad to happen to Milenia or their unborn child.

"Alright, you’re such a nag when it comes to this," Milenia said, turning her face away.

"I just don’t want to take any risks. Alcohol is bad for pregnant women, you know?"

"I know, but I do like this strict side of you, Agares."

Milenia smiled and leaned her head on Agares’ shoulder, their eyes both fixed on Aoi’s still-ongoing evolution.

Minutes passed, then hours. Milenia asked many questions and spoke about things that hadn’t happened yet, like the baby’s gender and name.

Agares smiled widely. Those would be decided later once Milenia successfully carried the pregnancy to term.

The pet evolution duration ran out, and Agares looked ahead to see cracks forming on the egg’s surface.

A bright light shined through the cracks, showing that Aoi’s evolution had succeeded.

Slowly, the red egg formed from fire affinity broke apart, revealing Aoi flying and opening her eyes. Her physical changes were clearly visible.

Her body had grown to about the size of a cat, whereas before she was only the size of a squirrel. She also had new markings on her body in different colors—blue and red patterns.

The most dramatic change was the number of tails behind her. She now had two, instead of just one.

The light and magic energy surrounding the fox slowly faded. Aoi landed on the grass in the backyard and looked toward the small pavilion where Agares and Milenia were watching.

"I’ve successfully evolved," said Aoi, showing her two tails to Agares.

Agares nodded. He and Milenia walked over and stood in front of Aoi. Agares crouched and gently patted the fur on her head.

With that evolution, Agares felt confident that Aoi’s abilities had improved significantly.

"So, what kind of abilities did you gain from reaching evolution level 2?"

Aoi stayed quiet, then nodded, her eyes fixed on Agares. She was determined to show off her new skills and impress him.

"Foxfire Claw!"

Aoi’s claws extended from her paws, and then she swung her arm to the side, creating a curved slash in the air with dominant fire elements.

Agares summoned Shadepiercer and stabbed it into the ground to block the force of Aoi’s fire claw.

He managed to hold off the attack, but he could feel that Aoi’s power had increased a lot compared to before. Even so, her strength alone still wasn’t enough to defeat him.

"That’s impressive. Your attack is way better than before."

"Thank you, Agares."

"What other abilities do you have?" asked Agares.

"Wait a moment."

Aoi closed her eyes and focused, imagining the new ability she wanted to use. Then she opened her eyes and, shockingly, transformed into Agares without any flaws.

The only difference was that Aoi’s version of Agares was much more flirtatious and talkative than the real one. Milenia laughed, and Agares was too shocked to speak.

"A simple transformation ability?" asked Agares.

"Yes, this is one of my abilities after evolving to level 2," replied Aoi, still in Agares’ form.

"HAHAHA!" Agares laughed.

"That’s impressive."

"But don’t use that form again," Agares said firmly.

Aoi nodded while still looking like Agares. Milenia laughed even louder while the real Agares bowed his head and facepalmed, looking confused.

A white puff of smoke appeared, and Aoi returned to her white fox form, now the size of a cat and with two tails. Agares smiled. Aoi could no longer rest inside his shirt pocket like before.

"You can’t wait to try out your new powers, can you?" asked Agares. Aoi cleared her throat and nodded.

Aoi’s attacks and powers would only be effective against monsters below level 4. But on floor 70, the monsters were level 4 and above—even up to level 8. Aoi’s attacks wouldn’t be very helpful.

Even so, Agares didn’t regret Aoi’s evolution. In fact, he felt grateful that she now had other abilities that might be useful later on.

"You should go in and rest, Aoi."

"You too, Milenia. Go back to your room and rest. I’ll join you later." free we\bnove(l).com

Milenia and Aoi nodded and walked side by side back into the house through the back door. Agares stayed silent, then looked around. He was the only one left outside.

Agares walked in to follow them. The evening turned into night. Aoi rested peacefully in her pen, and Milenia had returned to her room to sleep.

Still unable to sleep well, Agares decided to head to Goro’s tavern to spend the night. With his earring still on, he was able to leave the house and make his way to Goro’s place.

The streets weren’t crowded. Most people were resting comfortably in their homes, undisturbed. In the distance, Goro’s tavern was still open as usual.

When he arrived, Agares entered and saw that the tavern wasn’t very busy. He noticed only a few visitors, most of them local townspeople and not adventurers from the surface.

"Welcome, Sir."

"Are you new in town?" asked Mel.

"Yes. Where’s Goro?"

"My father is resting."

"Would you like to order something?" Mel asked.

Agares nodded. He ordered the tavern’s best beer for himself. Mel knew what drink would suit a human like him.

"Lately, I haven’t seen many adventurers coming by. Is something happening on the surface?"

"I don’t know. I haven’t left the dungeon in over two years."

"Really? What kept you down there?"

"I haven’t reached my goal yet. That’s all."

"I understand."
