Agares felt happy that everyone in Milenia’s residence—both the maids and the guards—obeyed and listened to his orders. As he had said, they went out to shop for Milenia’s needs during her pregnancy.

They didn’t have to worry about money or anything like that. Milenia would take care of all of it. For now, they only needed to focus on preparing the best food for her.

The healer from the demonkin race bowed his head and said goodbye to Agares and Aoi. He clearly said he would return to his home to prepare medicine and such.

Only Agares was left in the house, not knowing what to do. Milenia was asleep, and the maids were out shopping.

It was better for him to leave the house and sell the items he got from the floor monsters—to add more money, of course.

Aoi agreed. She would go wherever Agares went. She didn’t need to worry about Agares’ disguise, because the earring he wore had proven effective in fooling people’s minds.

No matter how strong they were or how skilled their spells were, they couldn’t see Agares while he was in disguise. That was enough to keep him safe for now.

He and Aoi stepped out and left Milenia in the care of one of the maids standing guard. The two of them walked toward the city center to get to Merchant Lo.

Unlike usual, there was no long line in front of Merchant Lo’s shop. It was a rather strange and unusual sight.

"Hello, sir. I feel like I’m seeing you for the first time," Lo said.

"I’m new in town."

"Alright. Is there anything I can help with?"

’Looks like Lo doesn’t recognize my disguised face. That’s fine. It works in my favor.’

Agares smiled. He pulled out a bunch of monster and boss monster items he got from his dungeon exploration from floor 66 to 76.

All the items floated in front of Agares, and Merchant Lo began scanning each one to check their quality and value.

He nodded in response to Merchant Lo. Another system panel appeared in front of him, showing the payment system at work.

Lo handed over a bottle of EXP Elixir, which Agares accepted. The elixir wasn’t for him, but for Aoi. He knew Aoi needed it to level up and evolve.

Without thinking much, Aoi uncapped the bottle and drank the EXP elixir. The EXP increase panel appeared, followed by a flash of bright light on Aoi’s body.

Agares and Lo turned their heads, watching what was happening to Aoi. She opened her eyes and saw the system panel in front of her face, showing that evolution was available.

"I can evolve, Sir."

"Really?"

Aoi nodded. She tapped her system panel and saw that there was one material needed to evolve.

"I need a specific material," Aoi replied.

"Don’t tell me it’s something hard to find?"

The fox shook her head. It was clearly shown on her system panel. The gem she needed to begin her second evolution was a fire-affinity gem.

She explained this directly to Agares, who then asked Lo right away. Merchant Lo found them familiar—especially the talking fox.

"About affinity gems... I have thousands of those."

"Give me a high-quality fire affinity gem."

From a distance, Merchant Lo watched as Agares and Aoi walked away from his shop. His eyes stayed on them.

Lo still felt like he recognized the man and the white fox, as if he had talked and met them before.

Arriving at Milenia’s residence, Agares stepped inside and saw Milenia enjoying her meal made of vegetables and chicken meat. She greeted Agares when she saw him arrive.

"Agares?" Milenia called.

"So you’re awake."

"Do you want to eat with me here?"

Agares smiled and shook his head, gently refusing Milenia’s offer. He couldn’t join her because he had to help Aoi complete her pet evolution.

Milenia looked shocked, then congratulated Aoi. She explained that the higher the evolution level, the stronger the pet would become.

"Did you get the material already?" Milenia asked. Agares cleared his throat.

"I see. Then I’ll catch up with you two after I finish eating."

Agares agreed. He and Aoi walked to the back door of Milenia’s residence and arrived in the backyard. It was a perfect place for Aoi to complete her pet evolution.

Aoi jumped and walked on her two feet, her teeth biting down on the fire gem to avoid dropping it.

Right when she reached the center of the yard, she activated her evolution by tapping the system panel in front of her, which unleashed strong magical energy swirling around her.

Agares stood still, focusing on Aoi’s condition. The fire-affinity magic energy from the Scorching Pearl gem began to extract itself and wrapped Aoi’s body in a red egg, floating above the swirling magical energy.

"Foxes are viviparous animals. It’s not normal for me to see a fox wrapped inside an egg like that."

The egg covered Aoi completely, as if letting time complete her evolution process. Not long after, Milenia arrived while eating an apple in her hand.

She came into the backyard and saw that Aoi had already started her evolution.

"Which evolution is this?" Milenia asked.

"Second-level evolution."

"Hmm... this won’t take long. I’m sure of it."

"Do all pets evolve like this? Going inside an egg like that?" Agares asked.

Milenia cleared her throat and nodded. What Agares said was entirely true. All contracted pets who got the chance to evolve would go through this phase.

She also tried to reassure Agares that he didn’t need to worry about anything. What was happening to Aoi was completely normal.

"We just have to wait until the evolution is finished."
