Chapter 339: Am I Supposed to Starve Waiting for You?

Chapter 339: Chapter 339: Am I Supposed to Starve Waiting for You?

"If I wait for you, am I supposed to starve to death?"

Qin Yan: "..."

As he spoke, Bo Yunshen stuffed the takeout bag into Qin Yan’s hands and then walked into the bathroom.

When he came back out, Qin Yan had already laid out the food on the small table.

The dishes on the table were simple—so simple, in fact, that they went beyond Qin Yan’s expectations.

What surprised Qin Yan the most was that among the dishes, there were ones that both Qin Yinyin and she favored.

Qin Yan stared at the plate of red chili oil wontons, hesitated for a moment, and glanced at Bo Yunshen’s expression.

The man caught her subtle movements and paused momentarily.

Qin Yan had eaten with him countless times and had shared meals at the Bo Mansion many times as well. He had only taken note a few of those occasions.

Their tastes were similar—they both liked foods with thin skins and generous fillings.

Moreover, she was a restrained woman. Even though she had a penchant for bold flavors, she never indulged too much.

Qin Yan licked the corner of her lips and asked Bo Yunshen, "Yunshen, were these wontons specially bought for me?"

Bo Yunshen froze for a second and then quickly denied it: "What kind of dream are you having? I bought them for myself!"

As he spoke, Bo Yunshen reached out to grab the plate of red chili oil wontons, but Qin Yan stopped his hand.

"Yunshen, you’re injured, and your stomach isn’t in good condition. The doctor specifically advised that during your hospital stay, you can’t eat highly seasoned foods!"

"So these wontons... let me have them."

Bo Yunshen pressed his lips together and withdrew his hand.

It’s just a plate of wontons. He wasn’t that petty. Since Qin Yan wanted them so much, he might as well let her have them!

As he thought this, Bo Yunshen pulled the bowl of seafood congee on the table toward himself. Casually, he asked, "The document you were looking at earlier, is there a problem with it?"

Qin Yan was caught off guard. She shook her head and, without hiding anything, said, "There’s no problem, per se. It’s just that the Qin Group’s philosophy doesn’t align with the Bo Group’s. Plus, their overall capability isn’t up to par for a partnership with Bo Group."

"This document shouldn’t have ended up in front of me to begin with. I was just distracted by it."

Bo Yunshen took a sip of congee, glanced at her coolly, and asked, "Qin Group—does it happen to have anything to do with you, Qin Yan?"

"Coordinates show Tong City. Which Qin Group are you referring to?"

Qin Yan’s hand, holding her chopsticks, froze briefly. She let out a low chuckle and said, "Yes, if you insist on digging into connections. The president of the Qin Group is my biological father."

Bo Yunshen was momentarily stunned.

Then it hit him—before Qin Yan married him, she was a woman known all over Tong City. There was hardly anyone who didn’t know about her.

The rumors surrounding her were so numerous they could make your ears numb. To describe her reputation as ruined or notorious wouldn’t be an exaggeration.

Looking back on it now, her rise to infamy was closely tied to her father.

Suddenly, it dawned on Bo Yunshen: so many years had passed, and Qin Yan had been single-handedly raising her daughter all this time. He had nearly forgotten that she used to be one of Tong City’s fallen socialites.

Could that also be one of the reasons she married into the Bo Family?

Seize control of the Bo Group, and then target the Qin Group?

Bo Yunshen paused for a moment, smirked, and asked, "The Qin Group’s disqualification—was that your call as Director Qin, or was it confirmed after the company reviewed it?"

Qin Yan paused, then retrieved the Qin Group’s file and handed it to Bo Yunshen.

He lifted his lashes and skimmed the contents. It was a thick stack. Qin Yan flipped to the page that clearly outlined the issues.

Bo Yunshen raised his brows. It was indeed unsuitable.

The Qin Group was clearly trying to push boundaries. The file was riddled with loopholes. Superficially, it appeared mutually beneficial for both the Bo Group and the Qin Group, but in reality, it was an attempt to exploit the Bo Group.

Bo Yunshen chuckled. "Does your father think the Bo Group is short on staff, or that since you’re at the helm, he can be brazen enough to submit something like this?"

"Probably both. But the main reason is likely because the person in charge of this file is Qin Mingchuan."

Qin Mingchuan.

Her half-brother, born from a different mother.

Bo Yunshen fell silent for a moment. After all, a decade ago, the Qin Family had ranked among the top-tier households in Tong City. Now, it had fallen so far that Bo Yunshen barely paid attention to its name.

This Qin Mingchuan—he might not even measure up to Qin Yan herself!

The corners of his lips twitched. The Qin Family’s ambitions to collaborate with the Bo Group were painfully transparent. They just wanted to climb up the social ladder again.

"What’s your plan?"

This was a prime opportunity for Qin Yan to return to the Qin Family—perhaps even gain inheritance rights to the Qin Group. Surely, she’d agree, right?

If Qin Yan dared to bend the rules in her favor, he’d be far from lenient!

"Follow standard procedures. The Qin Group is unqualified and incompatible with the Bo Group."

Qin Yan swallowed a wonton and smiled at him. "I’ll call Xiao Shen and remind him—when delivering documents to the hospital, make sure they’re of better quality. Let’s try to avoid situations like this happening again."

Bo Yunshen’s brows relaxed.

After they ate, Bo Yunshen went to bed. A nurse came in to put him on an IV drip.

His body was unwell, and he closed his eyes early. Qin Yinyin, who hadn’t attended school for several days, was sitting at the desk, doing the homework her teacher had sent to Qin Yan.

Meanwhile, Qin Yan sat in a single armchair, tackling a stack of paperwork.

"Mom, Dad’s IV is finished."

It was just one bag of fluids. Hearing this, Qin Yan walked over to Bo Yunshen’s bed to remove the needle. The man didn’t wake. Qin Yan pressed a cotton swab over the needle mark on the back of his hand, her gaze lifting slightly.

Her eyes froze on the exposed skin of his chest. She distinctly remembered that his chest injury wasn’t severe...

But that minor wound was now alarmingly swollen, with a dense rash forming around the area. Combined with his burn scars, the sight was terrifying enough to make Qin Yan gasp.

Frightened, she reached out to check his forehead.

The scorching heat almost burned her fingertips.

She pulled back his shirt and glanced at his waist and abdomen. During the Bai Le Men incident, Bo Yunshen had sustained serious injuries—particularly to his back and midsection.

What she saw made her stomach turn. The wounds on his waist were no less severe than the ones on his chest.

Qin Yan had a medical background, and one look told her it was an allergic reaction. Her eyelashes trembled as she suddenly stood up and bolted out of the room.

She was wearing high heels and moved too hastily. The moment she ran, she lost her balance and fell to the floor.

Qin Yinyin jumped in alarm. "Mom?"

Using the bed for support, Qin Yan got back up, silently exited the room, and called for emergency assistance.

Bo Yunshen was quickly wheeled into the emergency room. Standing at the doors, Qin Yan felt utterly dazed.

Her mind was in complete disarray.

Bo Yunshen had a unique constitution. Qin Yan had known this for eleven years. She also knew how serious his injuries were this time. Since the moment he’d been hospitalized, she had been vigilant about his medication.

But the hospital was a busy place, and her fears came true despite her careful monitoring.

This kind of situation—nearly impossible as it was—still happened!
