Chapter 327: Chapter 327: Will I Die Without a Man?
Upon returning to the city, Bo Yunshen was immediately taken to the hospital by Qin Yan.
The doctor told Qin Yan that Bo Yunshen had sensitive skin. Not all medications were suitable for him; common drugs could not only be ineffective but might even endanger his life!
"Then what kind of medication can he use?"
Qin Yan asked numbly.
The doctor gave Qin Yan an odd look and said in a low voice, "Ask him. He should be the one who knows best about this matter!"
Inside the hospital room, Bo Yunshen’s arm was hooked up to an IV filled with a special anti-inflammatory drug.
Qin Yan looked at him and asked, "If you have sensitive skin, why didn’t you tell me?"
Bo Yunshen chuckled, replying casually, "It’s not a big deal. See? I’m fine now."
Qin Yan knew that Bo Yunshen was trying to ease her guilt and didn’t want her to feel burdened.
Her nose tingled with emotion; his nonchalant response deepened the dread in her heart.
Qin Yan didn’t lash out irrationally but simply looked at him and asked, "If you get hurt, can you tell me which medications you can use?"
Bo Yunshen nodded slightly.
He could tell her, but back then, Qin Yan couldn’t have afforded the medications Bo Yunshen needed.
Love doesn’t abide by reason.
Because of Bo Yunshen, Qin Yan worked outside for a long time afterward, just so she could always keep a medicine that suited him in her bag.
She maintained the habit for eleven years, never expecting that one day, Bo Yunshen would confront her about it, asking if she had been investigating him.
Outside, the wind had started to blow, and soon after, the rain came pouring down.
Large raindrops pelted the windows with sharp, cracking sounds. Qin Yan, a light sleeper, woke from her dreams and instinctively looked at the sleeping Bo Yunshen behind her.
He remained in the same position, completely motionless, seemingly still asleep.
Qin Yan rose from the bed, closed the window with an outstretched hand, then turned back around.
Bo Yunshen wasn’t actually asleep. The injuries on his body were severe, especially the burns. Any movement brought him unbearable pain.
Most agonizing were his hands; he couldn’t move them without immense suffering.
Staying in one position was extremely challenging for anyone, but even though Bo Yunshen was utterly exhausted, sleep still eluded him.
So the moment Qin Yan moved closer, he instantly sensed it.
She must have brought her entire body near him—he could distinctly scent the faint fragrance unique to her.
His breathing stopped short.
Why was Qin Yan getting so close? This bed clearly had plenty of space left for her—he’d made sure of that!
Could it be she couldn’t resist and was trying to seduce him at this moment?
Wasn’t Qin Yan supposed to be clever?
He was injured to this extent and obviously couldn’t satisfy her. Shameless! Was it truly that unbearable to live without a man?
With these thoughts spinning in his mind, Bo Yunshen unconsciously slowed his breathing.
The next second, a warm little hand was placed on his forehead.
Bo Yunshen froze. Qin Yan had already withdrawn her hand.
Bo Yunshen endured the pain as beads of sweat covered his skin, particularly his forehead. Qin Yan assumed he’d developed a fever.
Seeing that his condition seemed normal, she let out a breath of relief and lay down beside him.
Bo Yunshen felt an awkward discomfort rise within him.
So Qin Yan had merely wanted to check if he had a fever?
He tugged at the corner of his mouth, his face completely devoid of a smile.
...
The next morning.
When Xu Lin called, Bo Yunshen sent Qin Yan out to buy breakfast.
Qin Yan hadn’t yet left the hospital when Xu Lin entered the hospital room.
"Mr. Bo, this package was sent to the company by Mr. Gu."
Bo Yunshen paused. A complete shipping box—sent by Gu Jinyan. Without a doubt, it had to be Qin Yan’s bag.
"Put it in the drawer."
Xu Lin nodded and placed the package into the drawer.
Afterward, he pulled out the documents from the bag. "Mr. Bo, these are the files you and Mr. Qin need to review today."
Bo Yunshen’s brow twitched. "Look at me—do I seem capable of working on documents right now?"
Xu Lin hesitated, licking the corner of his lips, saying, "These files need to be dealt with immediately, and I don’t have the authority to make decisions."
"Mr. Bo, how about letting Mr. Qin read them to you?"
"Or, I heard Mr. Qin is quite capable. You could let her handle them instead!"
Bo Yunshen’s expression turned icy.
Was he not still alive? Did they already want to hand over the authority to Qin Yan?
Were they prematurely grooming her to take over his role as president of the Bo Group?
Xu Lin froze under Bo Yunshen’s cold glare. Abruptly, the man tapped on the table and said, "Leave them. Come back for them in the afternoon!"
Xu Lin hurriedly dropped the files on the table before quickly fleeing.
He hadn’t gone far when he ran into Qin Yan, who was returning with breakfast.
"Director Qin."
"Secretary Xu, you’re here so early. Want to join me for breakfast?"
Xu Lin vigorously shook his head. "No, no. I already ate breakfast."
Qin Yan smiled briefly, tidying herself up. But being in the hospital, the conditions weren’t ideal; her face was bare without makeup, making her skin appear even fairer.
Xu Lin couldn’t resist envying her for a moment and spoke softly, "Director Qin, please assist Mr. Bo later. I brought a lot of files to the hospital, and he might have difficulty handling them all alone."
Qin Yan nodded and comforted him, saying, "Yunshen is seriously injured. I appreciate how much you’ve been managing for the company these past days."
Xu Lin responded softly before parting ways with Qin Yan.
Entering the room, Qin Yan set up a small table on the bedside, placing breakfast on it.
She arranged Bo Yunshen’s files on the side, then handed him a spoon. "I bought your favorite small wontons. Eat first before reviewing the documents."
His favorite?
Bo Yunshen lowered his head skeptically, his expression instantly freezing.
Having grown up with an affluent lifestyle, Bo Yunshen had a picky palate. In all of Tong City, there was only one place that made small wontons he truly liked.
The one on Huai Yang Road.
But how would Qin Yan know that?
Even if she were investigating him, she wouldn’t have gone into such meticulous detail!
After all, he hadn’t gone to eat there for years since starting his career.
Gripping the spoon, Bo Yunshen felt an inexplicable unease rising within him.
Qin Yan’s understanding of him ran deep—even exceeding his own understanding of himself in some ways.
As he remained motionless, Qin Yan tilted her head and looked at him. "What’s wrong?" she asked softly.
"Director Qin, I don’t recall ever telling you I liked wontons, do I?"
Qin Yan replied naturally, "Your mom mentioned it."
Liar!
He didn’t like stuffed food and rarely ate it at home—it was barely even mentioned. This particular wonton shop had been an anomaly!
His mother adored him deeply and would never serve him wontons, let alone talk about them!
Qin Yan seemed to know him far too intimately—this wasn’t something achieved in just a year or two.
Even the Bo Family’s genetic predisposition to leukemia—how did Qin Yan learn about that?
