Chapter 326: Chapter 326: Your Cousin, There’s a Problem

Gu Jinyan is someone who, in private, loves to have fun, but when it comes to serious matters, he is dead serious!

"Old Bo, your cousin has issues."

Bo Yunshen paused.

He only had one cousin—Lu Yi.

"What do you mean?"

Bo Yunshen asked offhandedly, "Did he say something to you?"

Gu Jinyan shook his head and said, "Just be careful around him."

"I can’t quite put it into words. Today at the hospital, I kept feeling like something was off about him."

"His words were flawless today, but..."

He didn’t know the entanglements between them, so for a moment, he couldn’t pinpoint what was so strange about Lu Yi.

Bo Yunshen’s expression froze.

He suddenly remembered—if it weren’t for Lu Yi, he wouldn’t have entered Bai Le Men in the first place.

And if it weren’t for Old Gu, he might have died in Bai Le Men.

And then there was last time, at the back mountain of Bo Group.

Lu Yi had said he was the one who saved Qin Yan.

Given Qin Yan’s condition at the time, it truly didn’t seem like she could have left Feng Lin District on her own, conveniently to be rescued by Lu Yi.

Bo Yunshen shook his head.

Although Lu Yi was indeed unusual, still...

He was, after all, his mother’s nephew, his cousin. There’s no way he’d want him dead, right?

Bo Yunshen leaned against the bed and stopped dwelling on it.

Yet sometimes, the truth is just a flicker of thought away!

After hanging up the phone, Bo Yunshen lay on the hospital bed, his eyes shut.

The pain all over his body gnawed at his nerves. No matter how much he wanted to sleep, no matter how exhausted he was, sleep just wouldn’t come.

When Qin Yan walked in, Bo Yunshen’s hazy consciousness snapped back sharply.

She stopped by the bedside and set down the tray. "Yunshen?"

Bo Yunshen didn’t respond or make a move.

Qin Yan hesitated, then reached out to undo the buttons of the hospital gown Bo Yunshen was wearing.

Bo Yunshen’s body suddenly stiffened.

This shameless woman—was she planning to take advantage of him while he was asleep?

Was she so lonely and desperate that Lu Yi couldn’t satisfy her?

Bo Yunshen’s breathing deepened; he clenched his lip tightly. He felt Qin Yan unbuttoning his upper body’s clothing, her fingertips brushing over his skin...

He was about to open his eyes and confront her.

But then, on his wounded abdomen, there was suddenly a cool sensation, as if some ointment was being applied.

The burning pain began to dissipate slightly.

Qin Yan was applying medicine to his wounds?

Bo Yunshen felt a heat rising in his face; his thoughts earlier had indeed been a bit filthy.

But on second thought, who wouldn’t misunderstand? Qin Yan should’ve explained herself instead of jumping straight to unbuttoning—any man would think she had impure intentions!

Now understanding what Qin Yan was doing, Bo Yunshen relaxed his body, lying comfortably on the hospital bed, letting her continue.

He even subtly opened his eyes a sliver.

He stared intently at Qin Yan—she was seriously focused, lowering her head to apply the ointment, holding a tube of it in her hand.

With the overhead light in the room turned off, the only light came from the bedside lamp next to his pillow.

Under the dim, amber glow, Qin Yan tilted her head and glanced at the text on another tube of ointment:

"Scar removal..."

Reading aloud those three words, Qin Yan twisted off the cap of the ointment, squeezed a portion out, and applied it to Bo Yunshen.

Her movements were delicate, touching his waistline in a way that tickled slightly, making Bo Yunshen feel an urge to squirm away.

The sensation crept all the way to his heart.

After treating the injuries on his front, Qin Yan pushed his shoulder: "Yunshen, wake up."

Bo Yunshen turned over, now facing Qin Yan, opening his eyes. His gaze poured out an icy coldness: "Do you have nothing better to do?"

She raised the ointment in her hand, speaking softly: "Yunshen, I was applying medicine to your wounds."

"I just asked the doctor. This ointment can be used together with the scar-removal cream."

Bo Yunshen looked at the sincerity in Qin Yan’s eyes with a mix of emotions.

Her eyes were incapable of lying. Despite whatever intricate schemes she harbored, her eyes always remained clear and pristine, unsullied as ever.

He snatched the ointment from Qin Yan’s hand, glancing at the labels on the tubes.

How convenient—both creams were suitable for his use.

"Where did you get this ointment?"

Bo Yunshen’s tone was heavy; the already tense atmosphere immediately froze over.

Qin Yan hesitated.

Bo Yunshen gripped the ointment, his brows gathering a faint layer of frost.

"My skin is sensitive, so I have to be cautious with medications. But Director Qin always seems to have the ones I normally use!"

"Have you been investigating me?!"

Bo Yunshen licked his thin lips, his gaze sharp as ice.

His eyes were cold as steel, and Qin Yan’s fingers tightened slightly.

Without an answer to offer, the matter of applying medicine naturally came to an abrupt end. Bo Yunshen’s resistance toward her was palpable, making Qin Yan feel that her decision earlier to stay and care for him had been made too hastily.

Perhaps replacing herself with a nurse might’ve been a better idea. Regardless of effectiveness, at least the tension between her and Bo Yunshen wouldn’t have worsened.

Lying on the edge of the bed, Qin Yan turned her back to Bo Yunshen. She thought she wouldn’t be able to sleep, but after lying there for a while, she began to drift off vaguely—not knowing whether it was a memory stirring or simply a dream.

Eleven years ago.

Bo Yunshen and Qin Yan had just started dating not long before. He had suggested they go climb a mountain.

Swept away by love, Qin Yan didn’t hesitate much and decided to go along with him.

She had assumed they’d visit some scenic spot—that the climb would at least involve staircases, tiring but manageable. But to her surprise, Bo Yunshen had genuinely taken her, with their backpacks in tow, to an undeveloped, secluded mountain.

The mountain was filled with dead branches, steep slopes, and no safety barriers in sight.

Caught off guard, Qin Yan nearly fell off the mountain, but luckily, Bo Yunshen reacted quickly, grabbing her hand and tumbling onto the path.

It had been summer then. To save her, Bo Yunshen’s calf was scratched by branches on the mountainside.

Blood gushed out, startling Qin Yan.

"Yunshen!"

Qin Yan screamed instinctively, reaching out to press against the wound on Bo Yunshen’s leg.

Bo Yunshen reached out to ruffle Qin Yan’s hair, saying, "It’s just a small cut. Don’t worry!"

Holding back her emotions, Qin Yan didn’t cry. Instead, she rationally took off her backpack, whispering, "I brought ointment. Let me treat your wound!"

Bo Yunshen initially wanted to refuse, but catching sight of the guilt in Qin Yan’s eyes, he paused and extended his injured leg toward her.

The ointment Qin Yan applied was just a generic brand she had bought from the pharmacy.

At the time, Qin Yan wasn’t aware of Bo Yunshen’s health conditions. Her only thought was to help his injuries heal quickly, but by nightfall, his wound hadn’t improved—it looked even worse.

The injury developed pus, appearing grotesque and unbearable for Qin Yan to witness.
