Chapter 323: Chapter 323 Qin Yan is a Fool
"How’s your injury?"
Bo Yuanshan continued asking.
Qin Yan shook her head and said, "I’m fine, no discomfort."
After asking, Bo Yuanshan turned his head and asked Lu Yi, "Why are you two together?"
Lu Yi paused and said softly, "I got news that Qin Yan was taken to the hospital, so I came to check on her."
His tone was ambiguous, but Bo Yuanshan, still preoccupied with Bo Yunshen, didn’t suspect anything and simply nodded.
An hour later, Bo Yunshen woke up.
When he opened his eyes and stared at the stark white ceiling, there was a moment of confusion.
Pausing for a second or two, Bo Yunshen suddenly sat up on the hospital bed. He remembered—the fire at Bai Le Men, and Qin Yan hadn’t made it out yet.
"Yunshen!"
"What are you doing? Lie back down!"
Bo Yunshen’s gaze focused and fell on the panicked Mrs. Bo. "Mom..."
As soon as he spoke, he instinctively reached up to press against his throat.
It felt like he had swallowed a bowl of sand—his throat was dry and painful, so much so that it made his hair stand on end.
Additionally, Bo Yunshen’s voice was hoarse and raspy, so indistinct that even the syllables were barely clear.
His whole body felt as if it had been run over by a truck, the pain making it nearly impossible for him to maintain his composure.
Mrs. Bo froze, her pupils dilating, watching in shock as Bo Yunshen, almost self-destructively, cleared his throat and endured the pain, staring at her as he asked, "Why am I here?"
"This is the hospital!"
Mrs. Bo’s eyes reddened with heartache. "The doctor said you inhaled too much smoke. The extent of the damage to your respiratory system could only be assessed when you woke up. I’ll call the doctor now so they can run some tests."
She said this as she released her grip on his arm and ran straight out of the room.
Bo Yunshen had no time to stop her.
He licked his lips, which were painfully dry and even had cracked, chapped skin.
Left alone in the hospital room, he didn’t know whom to ask. Had Qin Yan been rescued?
His mother, the person who despised Qin Yan the most, had shown no indication of offering any news. Based on her earlier behavior, Bo Yunshen couldn’t discern anything at all.
He had passed out on the third floor. Surely Qin Yan wouldn’t have been so unlucky that the rescue firefighters overlooked her, right?
Restless, Bo Yunshen stood up from the hospital bed, intending to find someone to ask about Qin Yan’s situation.
Although he didn’t like Qin Yan, he had never wished for her death!
After all, Qin Yan’s contributions to the Bo Group were significant. As the director of the marketing department, her role was critical. If something happened to her, he would have to replace her, and the department’s employees would have to adapt to a new management style.
It wasn’t out of concern for her welfare.
Bo Yunshen’s expression darkened. Just as he stood, his gaze froze.
Qin Yan stepped into the room, holding a glass of milk.
She was still wearing the same dress she’d had on when she left the Bo Family residence. The topmost button of the collar wasn’t fastened, exposing her delicate, porcelain collarbone.
Her expression was calm, and her slender figure moved toward him at a measured pace. Then, naturally, she placed the milk on the bedside cabinet and gently pressed him back onto the bed to sit down.
"You’re awake? Your body still needs a few more tests. Lie down and wait to hear what the doctor says."
Bo Yunshen froze.
She showed no signs of distress. Even her hair, draped over her shoulders, was perfectly smooth and pristine.
In stark contrast, he had burns on his hands and all over his body. The pain was one thing, but his overall appearance was utterly disheveled.
He looked at Qin Yan with a complex expression, his mood oscillating.
She was the one trapped in the fire. Yet why did it seem that he, the one who went in to save her, ended up the most severely injured?
Bo Yunshen licked the corner of his lip, instinctively wanting to ask Qin Yan something.
He parted his lips slightly, but the words caught in his throat.
If Qin Yan found out he almost died in the fire trying to save her, wouldn’t she become unbearably smug?
As this thought crossed his mind, his gaze drifted to the milk in Qin Yan’s hand.
The Starbucks logo on the cup suggested it was hot. It took fifteen minutes to walk from Tong City Central Hospital to Starbucks.
Qin Yan must have figured out that he saved her, so she went to Starbucks, bought this milk, and brought it over to win him over?
Bo Yunshen’s lips curled slightly. Surely, Qin Yan wasn’t so clueless.
Perhaps being smart had its advantages. At the very least, Qin Yan knew he had inhaled too much smoke at Bai Le Men, compromising his respiratory system, and had the sense to bring him a hot drink as soon as he woke up!
Following Qin Yan’s gentle push, Bo Yunshen lay back on the bed, even making sure to avoid aggravating his injured areas as he arranged himself into a more comfortable position, waiting for her to hand him the milk.
Qin Yan settled into the single sofa near the bed, lowered her lashes, and reached into her pocket.
From the right pocket of her sun-protective jacket, she retrieved an earring.
This was handed to her by the nurse after Bo Yunshen had been brought out of the operating room.
Tong City’s residents all knew about the Bo Family’s Mrs. Bo. Presumably, everyone would identify the earring Bo Yunshen had clutched so tightly as hers—Qin Yan’s.
She blinked her long lashes, reached out to pick up the milk from the table, and took a sip.
Bo Yunshen had already raised his hand, but now he could only watch as Qin Yan placed the straw against her lips.
Meanwhile, his stare was unwavering, directly fixated on Qin Yan. She seemed to sense it and looked up, her confused eyes meeting his. "What is it?"
Bo Yunshen let out a cold snort and turned his head away.
He took back what he had thought earlier. Qin Yan was an idiot, a complete and utter idiot!
What a waste of these injuries—it would’ve been better to let this ungrateful woman burn to death at Bai Le Men!
Qin Yan took another sip of milk, noticing the sudden surge of anger radiating from Bo Yunshen, though she had no idea what could have triggered it this time.
Fuming, Bo Yunshen was about to explode, yet Qin Yan seemed entirely oblivious to his mood. She continued fiddling with her phone and sipping her milk in a detached manner.
His temples throbbed as he seriously began to suspect that her appearance in his hospital room was not out of concern for his well-being.
She might actually be here just to infuriate him.
Bo Yunshen took a deep breath and stared at Qin Yan as he asked, "Director Qin, when you left Bai Le Men, your secretary mentioned not seeing you. What happened?"
"Oh? Disappointed I didn’t die in Bai Le Men?"
"Why, did it let Mr. Bo down?"
Qin Yan tilted her head, her lips curling into a faint, indifferent smile. Her eyes curved slightly, but they held no trace of warmth or discernible emotion.
Bo Yunshen’s chest tightened. His narrow eyes squinted as he scrutinized Qin Yan.
"Yes, regretful to death."
These words were laced with biting weight. As he spoke, Bo Yunshen suddenly leaned forward and snatched the milk from Qin Yan’s hands.
Her fingers instinctively tightened slightly, but Bo Yunshen, his lashes shadowing his gaze, pressed his focus on her and lowered his voice, asking, "Where did the milk come from?"
Qin Yan licked her lips, which still carried the faint sweetness of the milk.
It was at that moment she sensed the shift in Bo Yunshen’s demeanor.
