The Cold-hearted CEO's Unwanted Bride -
Chapter 308: Manman, Welcome Back!
Chapter 308: Chapter 308: Manman, Welcome Back!
Bo Yuanshan understood perfectly. As he got older, he grew especially fond of children and eagerly offered to help Qin Yan take care of Yinyin. He chuckled and said, "Go ahead, go ahead. Attend the celebration dinner tonight, but don’t drink too much!"
"Okay."
"Keep an eye on that rascal. If he drinks, leave the car where it is and just take a taxi home!"
Qin Yan nodded, somewhat impatient with Bo Yuanshan’s instructions, and replied, "Alright!"
After reminding Qin Yinyin to listen to Grandma and Grandpa, Qin Yan finally headed out with Bo Yunshen.
Bai Le Men wasn’t far away. Its confidentiality wasn’t the best, and its expenses weren’t low. By comparison, Bo Yunshen preferred Night Club.
However, the scale of the newly developed building wasn’t as grand as Luo Shen Bay’s. Choosing Bai Le Men was still a good fit for the occasion.
The woman in the light pink blouse stood among the bustling atmosphere, yet she remained pure and untainted, like a lotus rising from the mud.
Following Bo Yunshen’s gaze, Qin Yan also glanced in the same direction. Lin Man tilted her head and smiled at Qin Yan.
"Mr. Qin, Mr. Bo, you’re here?"
Xiao Shen approached, clutching a stack of documents in her hands, her expression tinged with a hint of embarrassment.
"Mr. Qin, you weren’t at work today, but these documents need your review!"
Given the celebratory atmosphere, Bo Group employees weren’t as tense as they usually were when at work. As soon as Xiao Shen spoke, someone jokingly chimed in, "Secretary Shen, we’re here for the celebration dinner. It’s rare for Mr. Qin to get some downtime, and yet you’re too inconsiderate, bringing work to this occasion!"
This interruption lightened the atmosphere in the private room. Qin Yan smiled and gestured to the coffee table in the room corner, speaking softly, "I’ll take a look later. Just leave the documents there for now!"
Xiao Shen nodded, placing the documents on the table, then fished out a pen from her bag and set it beside them.
Bo Yunshen was the first to enter the room, heading straight to the corner to sit down. His expression was calm, his demeanor quiet. Among the crowd jostling in the private room, not a single person dared to joke with him.
He wasn’t far from Lin Man. The woman pushed a bottle of liquor toward him.
A bottle of brandy — expensive, and a fitting choice for a celebration dinner.
Bo Yunshen turned his head slightly, scanning the room. There were all kinds of alcohol on the tables, but brandy happened to be one of his favorites.
His lips moved slightly as he accepted the wine glass Lin Man offered him, pouring himself a serving.
Lin Man’s lips curved upward. Holding her glass, she clinked it lightly against his, whispering, "Yunshen, long time no see!"
"Manman, welcome back."
The two of them exchanged smiles. Just as Bo Yunshen raised his glass, a delicate, pale hand reached over and swiftly took the glass from his grip.
Bo Yunshen froze, turning his head to look behind him.
Qin Yan stood under the flickering and dim lights, a soft smile on her face. Her tone was natural and gentle as she reminded him, "Yunshen, you’ll be driving later, so no drinking."
Bo Yunshen’s eyes darkened instantly.
Was the issue not drinking, or not drinking Lin Man’s toast?
The past couple of days, she had been with him incessantly, seemingly inseparable. Did Qin Yan think this gave her license to control everything?
Mrs. Bo was playing her role so thoroughly now that she dared to meddle in his affairs with Lin Man as well?
Bo Yunshen’s lips thinned, pressing into a sharp, blade-like line that gleamed with an icy edge.
The private room erupted in teasing voices from their colleagues.
"Hey, this isn’t just a celebration dinner; it’s clearly a major show of affection arranged by Mr. Bo and Mr. Qin for us!"
"Right, right! Mr. Qin, flaunting love has to be done in the right place — we’re all single here!"
Qin Yan paused.
Flaunting love? There was no love between her and Yunshen to flaunt!
"Alright, enough of that. Don’t tease anymore, or Mr. Qin might get shy!"
Everyone shared knowing smiles. Lin Man, however, maintained her smile as she turned to Qin Yan, her voice low and steady, "Yanyan, surely you’re not so petty as to get jealous over Yunshen having a drink with me?"
Qin Yan’s eyelashes quivered faintly. To be honest, she hadn’t even noticed it was Lin Man toasting with Bo Yunshen earlier.
Because of her comment, the atmosphere in the private room became visibly strained.
Qin Yan smiled faintly, her demeanor far less cordial than Lin Man’s, yet she adeptly picked up the brandy bottle from where Bo Yunshen sat.
"Miss Lin, brandy has a relatively high alcohol content."
"We drove here today, and my wrist had a small fracture a few days ago..."
Her implication was clear: Qin Yan might not be able to drive later.
Qin Yan didn’t intend to embarrass Lin Man publicly. Smoothly, she grabbed an empty glass and poured Bo Yunshen a cup of juice instead.
"Miss Lin, you’re a lady. How about ordering some coffee instead?"
Coffee?
One could only suspect that Qin Yan had bribed Bai Le Men’s servers, intent on sabotaging Lin Man!
Raised in high society, Bo Yunshen had encountered countless schemes and plots. He cast Qin Yan a doubtful glance.
And on what grounds did Qin Yan think she could stop him from drinking?
Did Qin Yan think she was some sort of authority? Heaven’s ruler, perhaps, whose words carried absolute weight?
Bo Yunshen’s brow curved slightly, his gaze deep and captivating. Even in such a setting, he was strikingly handsome, like a deity descending from the heavens.
With an air of indifference, he reached for a nearby bottle, twisting the cap open barehanded, his expression even more detached.
"It’s just a drink. What’s a celebration dinner without alcohol?"
"We’ll leave the car at Bai Le Men. Tomorrow I’ll have Xu Lin come by to retrieve it."
Bo Yunshen decisively made the call. Mentioned by name, Xu Lin adjusted his glasses awkwardly and murmured under his breath:
"Mr. Bo, the manager at Bai Le Men just informed us that cars aren’t allowed to stay overnight here..."
Bo Yunshen’s gaze flicked toward Xu Lin, sharp and cutting, making Xu Lin’s heart clench with dread. He stammered before an unexpected flash of insight struck him: "I-I won’t drink tonight. I’ll drive you and Mr. Qin home later..."
Qin Yan’s lips curled upward, her tone soft as she responded, "That’s fine."
"Secretary Xu, I saw your car downstairs earlier. After the celebration dinner, you can head home. I’ll drive Yunshen back myself."
Finishing her sentence, she turned to look at Bo Yunshen, her voice low but steady: "Yunshen, you can drink, but don’t drink too much. I promised Dad I’d take good care of you."
A sneer flickered across Bo Yunshen’s face.
Promised the old man?
Mentioning that now, Qin Yan was probably trying to flaunt her influence, wasn’t she?
Or maybe it was a warning to Lin Man — her return was fine, but Bo Yunshen already had Qin Yan’s backing, so Lin Man had better not get any ideas.
Mockery shimmered in Bo Yunshen’s eyes.
He poured himself a glass of wine, downing it with a cold, decisive motion.
The fiery liquid scoured his throat before he refilled his glass to the brim, spilling a few drops in the process.
