Chapter 304: Chapter 304 Yanyan, You Finally See the Clouds Part and the Moon Shines Clear

"What do you mean? What, hasn’t Miss Lu told you? She forged a fake paternity test and sent it to the Bo Group?"

Qin Yan’s ears buzzed.

Forged?

No! Lu Xiang wouldn’t do such a thing!

The paternity test she sent over is likely to be real.

Qin Yan’s heart tightened. "You changed your attitude toward Yinyin because of her paternity test, didn’t you?"

"Have you not woken up yet? Or could it be that, in Director Qin’s mind, I’m that easy to fool?"

Qin Yan’s breath hitched as Bo Yunshen’s voice grew colder, "The reason I have endured without reacting is to see just how long Director Qin plans to play these cheap tricks!"

Qin Yan’s face burned, as if she had been slapped hard several times.

Having obtained the answer, Qin Yan climbed out of bed in a rather disheveled state, hurriedly tugging at her messy clothes as she rushed out of the master bedroom.

It was already late, and Hai Wan Xiang Xie was extraordinarily large. Qin Yan adjusted her clothes and felt as though, after leaving the master bedroom, the entire world had lost its light.

Qin Yan pressed her lips together as darkness engulfed her, and the space seemed to grow increasingly oppressive.

Holding her phone, Qin Yan turned on the flashlight and tiptoed out of the villa.

As soon as she opened the villa’s door, the wind outside swept over her like a torrid wave. Qin Yan sat on the doorstep, surrounded by silence and pitch-blackness, save for the faint rays of light seeping from a few streetlamps.

Qin Yan blinked her lashes. Aside from the phone in her hand, there was nothing else.

She didn’t know how much time had passed, but a thin layer of sweat clung to her skin. Just as she intended to return, her phone rang.

Qin Yan glanced at the screen—the caller was Lu Xiang.

Her fingertip hesitated before she slid to answer.

On the other end, Lu Xiang’s surroundings were noisy. Qin Yan parted her lips. "Xiangxiang?"

"It’s me, Yanyan."

"Why aren’t you asleep so late at night?"

Lu Xiang paused briefly before replying in a low voice, "Feng Chen has a social engagement and asked me to accompany him."

As Feng Chen’s secretary, it was normal for Lu Xiang to attend such engagements. Qin Yan didn’t ask further but responded quietly, "Did you call because something’s up?"

There was a hint of probing in Lu Xiang’s voice. "I saw the matter online has been resolved. Yanyan, does Bo Yunshen know that Yinyin is his child now?"

Not only does he not know, he might even hate Qin Yinyin by now!

At the mention of this, Qin Yan’s fingertips curled slightly, suppressing the rising bitterness in her chest. "Yes, he believes it. You must’ve seen that he called the director this morning. If he didn’t believe it, why would he say those things?"

Lu Xiang still felt something was amiss, but Qin Yan’s explanation seemed reasonable. She tugged at her lips and, in a casual tone, said, "Yanyan, you’ve finally weathered the storm and seen the moonlight. Congratulations!"

Bitterness swelled in Qin Yan’s heart.

Ever since meeting Lu Xiang, following Bo Yunshen, she hadn’t been able to untangle all their entanglements.

She didn’t know much about the current situation either.

"Weathering the storm and seeing the moonlight"—using this phrase now felt far too premature.

Qin Yan blinked and let out a soft laugh. Perhaps because the wait had worn her down, she glanced at the endless night above, and for the first time in years, she felt a desire to confide.

"Xiangxiang, do you know how long I’ve been waiting?"

"Eleven years."

Her bond with her parents was shallow—her mother had died of illness, and her father remarried. Back then, she thought Bo Yunshen would be her forever...

He had promised her a home, only to vanish without a word.

Tears filled Qin Yan’s heart. She had never been able to accept this ending, but tonight, she severed all lingering hope.

Lu Xiang’s voice held a trace of heartache. "Yanyan, don’t cry..."

"Things will get better in the future. Trust me, okay?"

Things won’t get better, but they won’t get worse either. Qin Yan wiped away the tear at the corner of her eye and replied firmly, "Yes, the worst is already behind me."

In a low voice, Qin Yan said, "Xiangxiang, you’ve been out here for a long time. If Mr. Feng can’t find you later, he’ll be upset again. You should go back."

"Drink less alcohol, and call me when you get home!"

Warmth flickered in Lu Xiang’s heart. She curled her lips and replied softly, "Okay, I will."

Ending the call, Qin Yan steadied herself with her hands on her shoulders, forcing her emotions into calmness before standing up.

As she stood, she noticed Bo Yunshen leaning against the door. She had no idea how long he’d been standing there.

Qin Yan froze in shock, her mind swirling with thoughts of her conversation with Lu Xiang. Just how much had Bo Yunshen heard?

"Mr. Bo, how long have you been standing here?"

Bo Yunshen sneered coldly. "Not long—since Director Qin told Miss Lu to drink less alcohol!"

Qin Yan’s heart lifted in relief. She pressed her lips together and, standing in the hazy night, her features carried a striking and unsettling beauty.

Bo Yunshen’s gaze darkened, and irritation rose within him.

This woman, Qin Yan—even for a phone call, she had to come outside the villa. And at this hour, she’s not worried about the reporters anymore!

What other schemes could she possibly be planning?

Qin Yan tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, smiled faintly at Bo Yunshen, and spoke softly, "Yunshen, it’s getting late. You should rest early."

With that, she attempted to pass him and return inside. As she walked past, the man suddenly grabbed her arm.

Their proximity brought Qin Yan close to Bo Yunshen, his masculine scent enveloping her. His gaze was deep, almost blending into the midnight darkness.

"Director Qin, were you so eager to communicate with Miss Lu?"

"I wasn’t."

Bo Yunshen smirked. "Then, is Director Qin saying the scenery tonight was particularly pleasant, prompting you to step out for a breath of fresh air?"

Qin Yan sighed softly and took a step back, asking in a low voice, "Yunshen, why are you out here so late at night?"

Hearing this, Bo Yunshen pressed Qin Yan’s slender frame against the villa’s door. His movements were teasing as he tugged at her disheveled clothing, lowering his voice. "Of course, I came out to see if Mrs. Bo—dressed like this—was out for another late-night encounter!"

"Well, have you seen enough now?"

Bo Yunshen let out a cold huff.

Qin Yan remained composed, without offering a single explanation—was this her indirect admission of recklessness?

She placed her hands against Bo Yunshen’s chest and pushed lightly, her expression indifferent. "Yunshen, I’m tired."

"Director Qin, what do you take Hai Wan Xiang Xie for—a place you can come and go freely as you please?"

Bo Yunshen sneered, listening to the tone Qin Yan used to speak to him. She had given up any pretense, not even resorting to polite excuses?

Qin Yan calmly looked at Bo Yunshen and spoke softly. "Yunshen, if you’re upset, can we talk inside? Although there are no reporters here right now, we can’t be sure they won’t return later."
