Chapter 840: Chapter 840: No Longer Want to Indulge Her
Bo Jingyan knew what Xia Qingtian was worried about, so he clasped her hand in return, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
He was using this gesture to tell Xia Qingtian that he had everything under control—that his actions were not impulsive but were the result of careful planning and consideration, and there was no need for concern.
Bo’s mother also sensed something unusual in Bo Jingyan’s words and spoke up, "You can rest assured, there’s nothing in this world I can’t handle."
Because of the events from the past, what she hated the most was being kept in the dark, being manipulated under the guise of someone acting in her best interest.
She didn’t need that!
What she wanted was the right to know about everything concerning herself.
Shi Qian knew she shouldn’t worry, for she had arranged all the matters herself.
But for some reason, she just felt uneasy now, with a foreboding feeling in her heart. She didn’t want to stay here any longer, so she tugged on Bo’s mother’s hand, "Mrs. Bo, we didn’t consult with the doctor before coming out today. We should hurry back to avoid making the doctor angry when he finds out you left without permission."
Her sixth sense was urging her to take Bo’s mother away quickly, not to let her continue talking with Bo Jingyan.
Bo’s mother, who usually valued her advice, unexpectedly withdrew her hand this time, not out of suspicion of Shi Qian, but because Bo Jingyan’s words had suggested there was something she didn’t know about, some hidden secret.
She had to find out!
"It’s fine. Let him be angry," Bo’s mother said indifferently to Shi Qian.
After she had finished speaking, she turned to Bo Jingyan, "If you have something to say, then say it clearly all at once. Don’t talk in riddles."
"It’s not really a big deal, just that you actually don’t have cancer. Someone bribed the doctor to fake your medical condition," Bo Jingyan stated nonchalantly, dropping this bombshell.
As Bo Jingyan’s words fell, Shi Qian’s hand trembled uncontrollably.
She had never expected Bo Jingyan to know about this, and he revealed it mercilessly. When had he found out? How much did he know? Did he have any evidence in hand?
Bo’s mother was also shocked by the news and couldn’t react for a while.
"This..." After a long pause, she finally regained her composure and said, "How is that possible? Who would forge my medical record, and what would they stand to gain from it? Could you be mistaken?"
Bo Jingyan did not directly reveal Shi Qian’s name but deliberately guided her, "We should consider who stands to profit the most from this situation, who might become the biggest winner."
Bo’s mother said nothing.
Bo Jingyan continued, "After being diagnosed with cancer, you’ve been living in fear every day, with medication and injections, trapped in the hospital with no freedom. And for the sake of your health, to avoid upsetting you, I painfully divorced Qingtian. All three of us are victims."
When he mentioned the divorce from Xia Qingtian, even though they had since reconciled and their relationship had not been affected—in fact, it had grown stronger and more understanding—he still had a shadow pass over his eyes.
He would have preferred never to have experienced those emotional upheavals due to Shi Qian’s schemes, for him and Xia Qingtian to have always been in love.
Instinctively, Bo’s mother’s gaze turned to Shi Qian.
If what Bo Jingyan said was true, then Shi Qian was the only winner.
Ever since Bo Jingyan and Xia Qingtian had divorced and he became single again, she had been trying to match him with Shi Qian.
This situation was most advantageous to Shi Qian. Her affection for Bo Jingyan had always been transparent. So, was it Shi Qian who had fabricated the cancer diagnosis?
Noticing her gaze, Shi Qian panicked even more.
"I didn’t!" she immediately denied, "Mrs. Bo, you’ve been so good to me, how could I possibly fake your medical condition?"
Looking to Bo Jingyan she asked, "Brother Jingyan, do you have any evidence to prove what you’ve just said?"
Bo Jingyan replied calmly, "The evidence is on the way here!"
Seeing him so certain, not appearing to lie, Shi Qian was frightened to the point where her legs went weak and she nearly fell, thankfully stabilizing herself against the wall just in time.
Bo’s mother noticed her odd behavior and turned to glance at her, her eyes filled with inquiry.
"What’s wrong?" she asked looking at Shi Qian.
Shi Qian forced a smile more wretched than crying, "Nothing’s wrong, I just might have eaten something bad, and now my stomach hurts a bit. I’d like to go to the restroom."
Bo’s mother withdrew her gaze, "Go ahead."
Shi Qian immediately clutched her stomach and ran towards the restroom.
Bo Jingyan watched her hurried departure and then said to Bo’s mother, "Right now, neither Shi Qian nor my evidence can be sorted out so quickly, let’s just sit down for now."
Bo’s mother was indeed a bit distraught and didn’t argue, taking a seat on the couch.
Bo Jingyan poured her a glass of water.
After finishing this, Xia Qingtian approached him softly and said, "What exactly are you planning? Why are you suddenly exposing Shi Qian in front of your mother? Isn’t this just alerting the enemy? Now that Shi Qian has gone to the washroom, she’s certainly passing on the information. What if your evidence is tampered with later? It could backfire, making it impossible to expose her and allowing the person behind the scenes to hide even deeper."
Bo Jingyan tapped her on the head, "You have so little faith in your man?"
Xia Qingtian rubbed the spot he had tapped and said, "It’s not that I don’t have faith in you, but right now we are in the light, and the person behind the scenes is in the dark. We don’t know who he is or what his motives are. Exposing Shi Qian so impulsively is really too rash."
"Don’t you want to stop tolerating Shi Qian?" Bo Jingyan countered.
Xia Qingtian was taken aback.
Indeed, she had said she was fed up with Shi Qian, but it was just venting; she had no idea Bo Jingyan would take her seriously!
"It was just something I said; I can still bear it!" she muttered hesitantly.
"But I can’t. You are my woman, Bo Jingyan. I want to make sure you are safe and happy for the rest of your life. How can I let you be wronged? Before, I overthought things and was too indecisive. That’s why you’ve had to suffer over and over again and fallen into danger. It will not happen again," he earnestly stated, "Since that person only dares to skulk in the shadows, it proves he’s no match for me."
At the end, he revealed a confident smile, "How do you know I won’t be able to catch him this time?"
