Xia Qingtian thought Bo Jingyan could hold out a little longer, but just after a while, he deftly grabbed her restless hand, preventing her from causing any more havoc on his body.

"Stop messing!" The tone of Bo Jingyan’s words was laced with helplessness and indulgence, like a man unable to resist her antics.

Xia Qingtian finally quieted her hands.

She smiled gleefully at Bo Jingyan, "You were mad at me just now and ignored me, right? How did you give in so quickly?"

"My dear, how could I dare to be mad at you?" Bo Jingyan sighed and counter-questioned her.

Xia Qingtian pouted, adopted a somewhat proud tone, "Then why did you suddenly hang up on me? I texted you and you didn’t reply. I thought you were really mad at me, I was thinking about how to apologize."

"So, did you figure out how to apologize?" Bo Jingyan stopped in his tracks and raised an eyebrow to ask.

"I haven’t really thought about it yet," Xia Qingtian answered honestly.

She was preoccupied with the issues concerning Cheng Bingbing and Huo Qilin. She didn’t have the leisure to meticulously plan how to appease Bo Jingyan who, due to his doting nature, didn’t require any premeditated cajoling; just being spontaneous would do the trick.

"You’re really heartless," Bo Jingyan reached out, aiming to pinch her nose in retaliation.

His hand was already touching her nose before he decided against hurting her. Eventually, he just lightly scraped her nose, as if to let out some steam.

Seeing his reluctance to hurt her, Xia Qingtian stole a laugh, and continued her line of questioning, "So, what about you? You haven’t answered my question. Why did you suddenly hang up on me and not reply to my messages?"

"What can I do when the woman I love is so empathetic, willing to leave me behind to stay with her friend in a hospital? I have no choice but to spoil you." Bo Jingyan chuckled, his gaze tender as a gentle stream.

Unable to control her temper any longer, Xia Qingtian held Bo Jingyan’s waist tightly, throwing herself into his embrace.

They stayed outside for quite a while, until a cool evening breeze blew past.

It was scorching hot during the day, but the night would bring a significant drop in temperature. The chill from the gust made Xia Qingtian shiver uncontrollably.

Bo Jingyan immediately took off his jacket and draped it over her, suggesting, "Let’s go back."

Xia Qingtian did not object, as they had indeed, been out for quite a while.

When they returned to the ward, Cheng Bingbing was still there, gripping Huo Qilin’s hand by his bedside.

"When are you going back? I’ll take you!" Bo Jingyan asked Xia Qingtian.

Pointing to Cheng Bingbing, Xia Qingtian replied, "You see how she looks right now, I can’t feel at ease going home. Leave me be, I’ll definitely accompany her in the hospital today."

"As long as Cheng Bingbing doesn’t leave the hospital, are you planning to keep her company?" Bo Jingyan asked worriedly, his affection for her evident in his gaze.

Previously, when he was unaware that his mother was pretending to be sick due to Shi Qian’s scheming, he would frequently take care of her in the hospital. Therefore, he understood the exhaustion that came along with attending to a hospital patient.

He was supportive of Xia Qingtian’s efforts but disliked seeing her distressed.

Knowing that he was worried about her, Xia Qingtian reassured him, "Of course not. It’s just that Huo Qilin hasn’t regained consciousness yet, and I don’t feel at ease leaving Bingbing alone. Once Qilin wakes up, her emotions should stabilize and she won’t need my company. Besides, I don’t want to be a third wheel."

Seeing her determined to stay with Cheng Bingbing in the hospital, Bo Jingyan had no choice but to respect her decision.

"Okay...." he began, "Don’t forget, you aren’t invincible. Don’t push yourself too hard."

"I know, I’m not a child anymore. You really nag too much." Xia Qingtian retorted, although deep down, she found his concern heartwarming.

Bo Jingyan reminded her of a few more things before leaving the hospital.

After Bo Jingyan left, Xia Qingtian checked the time and realized it was quite late.

She walked over to Cheng Bingbing and tapped her shoulder. When she got her attention, she whispered, "Bingbing, it’s already quite late, why don’t you nap on the sofa for a bit."

"It’s okay, I’m not tired, I want to stay here with Qilin." Cheng Bingbing’s attention was wholly focused on Huo Qilin. She hadn’t paid any mind to Xia Qingtian and Bo Jingyan’s conversation and urged, "Sister Qingtian, I’ve troubled you a lot today, you should go home and rest with Bo."

Cheng Bingbing had already caused enough trouble for Xia Qingtian today, she didn’t want to burden her any further.

Xia Qingtian sighed, and replied, "I already told Jingyan to go home first. Tonight, I’ll be here with you and Qilin."

At Qingtian’s words, Cheng Bingbing appeared somewhat stunned.

Xia Qingtian told her, "I know that you won’t feel at ease unless Huo Qilin gains consciousness, even if the doctor declares he’s out of danger. But you still have to shoot scenes tomorrow, you must get a good night’s sleep to restore your energy."

"As for Huo Qilin, if you’re okay with it, let me keep watch over him. If anything happens, I’ll wake you up immediately."

Cheng Bingbing opened her mouth to protest.

Huo Qilin was her boyfriend, and she preferred to be by his side herself.

Yet, she was aware that her on-set flubs today, due to that man’s troublesome message, had already displeased the director and crew. Their patience was merely due to Xia Qingtian’s and her agency’s saved face, sparing her from criticism and blame.

If she were in the same state tomorrow, the director would not be so lenient anymore.

She had to be fully energized tonight!

Considering all this, Cheng Bingbing had no choice but to suppress her fears and reluctantly agree, "Well, then I will have to trouble you, Sister Qingtian."

The room Huo Qilin was in was a VIP ward. It had a comfortable environment equipped with a soft couch, as well as a restroom. After washing up in the restroom, Cheng Bingbing lied down on the couch, not feeling the least bit tired.

To coax herself to sleep, she shut her eyes tightly.

Xia Qingtian sat in front of Huo Qilin’s bedside, opening her laptop to process company emails and potential scripts. Occasionally, she would glance over at Cheng Bingbing, able to spot her tossing and turning in an attempt to sleep.

She said nothing and left her be.

It was after midnight when Cheng Bingbing finally quieted down. Only after another look did Xia Qingtian realize, she’d fallen asleep.

Xia Qingtian immediately adjusted the room’s temperature, took a blanket, and, without a sound, covered Cheng Bingbing.

Unaware of how long she’d slept, Cheng Bingbing abruptly woke, sitting up straight from her position on the sofa. Instinctively, she looked towards Huo Qilin on his hospital bed.
