Chapter 768: Chapter 768: Don’t Want to Involve Her_1

Though Huo Qilin didn’t know why Cheng Bingbing would want to leave the hospital abruptly, or why she was even reluctant to go home, he still respected her wishes.

"Alright," he consently replied, "You’re the boss at our place. Whatever you say goes."

Achieving her goal so easily, without racking her brain to find an excuse, lifted Bingbing’s spirits and made her smile even brighter.

Overwhelmed by her enchanting laughter, Qilin impulsively leaned in and planted a kiss on her face.

...

The next day.

Cheng Bingbing pushed Huo Qilin to process her discharge from the hospital.

She was genuinely afraid of that man. If he knew her address in the hospital and even managed to get her phone number from the nurses, it signalled that the hospital had been infiltrated.

She decided to evade that man and didn’t want to waste another moment.

Huo Qilin went along with her.

Knowing she didn’t want anyone to disturb or know her whereabouts, he even found a secluded villa with a comprehensive security system.

After completing the discharge process, they left together.

On their way to the villa, a mobile ringtone suddenly pierced the silence.

The ringtone startled Bingbing, causing all of her hairs to stand on end as if reacting to stress. She was covered in goosebumps.

She was truly afraid that it was that man calling.

This time, the ringing was coming from Huo Qilin’s phone. Bingbing had already switched off her phone and even removed her SIM card when she was discharged.

When Bingbing saw Qilin pulling out his phone, she couldn’t control her trembling, her voice shaky as she asked, "Qilin, who’s calling you?"

If Qilin said it was a stranger, even at the risk of arousing Qilin’s suspicion, she would unhesitatingly snatch the phone and throw it out of the car window.

Huo Qilin didn’t notice Cheng Bingbing’s unusual behaviour.

He looked at the caller ID on the screen and answered the call, "It’s Xia Qingtian."

Hearing it was Xia Qingtian, Bingbing heaved a sigh of relief. For a moment, she felt her back soaked with cold sweat induced by her recent fright.

While Qilin answered the call, he instinctively switched to speaker mode.

Even though he no longer felt affection for Xia Qingtian and Bingbing didn’t mind his past feelings for Xia, every time he met or talked with Xia, he felt guilty, afraid Bingo would get mad.

So he decided to make the call public in front of Bingbing. This way, all his conversation with Xia Qingtian would be known to Bingbing, avoiding any miscommunication.

Soon Xia Qingtian’s voice could be heard from the phone, "Huo Qilin, where did you take Bingbing? I went to her room but didn’t see anyone. The nurse said you checked her out?"

Xia Qingtian was really speechless.

She had been busy with work for the last couple of days. Thinking that Bingbing was under Qilin’s care and her frequent visits might disturb their bonding and privacy, she chose not to disturb them.

Today, she got some time and brought some fruits to drop by, but to her surprise, the entire ward was empty. At first, she thought Qilin had taken Bingbing out for a walk, but after waiting for a long time, they hadn’t come back.

Just then, a nurse came by to tidy up the room, and that was when she learned that Qilin had already checked out for Bingbing and they had left the hospital.

Not only was she Bingbing’s agent and the company’s boss, but she was also her friend.

Bingbing had been discharged from the hospital, and she didn’t even know about it.

She was undoubtedly speechless. Shouldn’t they have informed her? If making a call was too much of a hassle, couldn’t they at least send a message?

Qilin realized that he should have informed Xia Qingtian about Bingbing’s discharge.

Immediately, he tried to compensate by saying, "Yes, I checked Bingbing out. I thought of telling you about it after we settled down. I didn’t expect you to come to the hospital and get to know about it."

Xia Qingtian didn’t insist on whether he was telling the truth or just making an excuse. Instead, she asked the most important question, "Where did you take Bingbing?"

Bingbing’s home was being renovated due to water damage and certainly wasn’t livable.

Were they staying at a hotel then?

Just when Qilin was about to tell Qingtian the address, Bingbing tugged at his sleeve and shook her head, indicating him not to tell.

Even though he was puzzled about why Bingbing didn’t want to inform Xia Qingtian about their destination, even though they have always been best friends, he still made up an excuse per her indication, "I can’t tell you that. I don’t want you to disturb our alone time."

Xia Qingtian almost burst into laughter hearing his words.

"You’re really heartless, aren’t you?" she replied indignantly, "Without me, you wouldn’t even have a girlfriend, and you’d still be a love-struck single. Now that you’ve won her over, you find me bothersome and fear I might be the third wheel."

Qilin didn’t say a word.

Xia Qingtian wasn’t really angry; she just casually complained. Understanding Huo Qilin was unwilling to reveal the address, fearing she would be a third wheel, she didn’t insist on intruding on them.

"Fine then, if you don’t want to tell me, I won’t ask anymore. But you must look after Bingbing, she’s sprained her ankle. Don’t let her exert force on it until it heals," she reminded him seriously.

Qilin reassured her, "Don’t worry, Bingbing is my girlfriend; I’ll take good care of her."

After receiving confirmation from Qilin, Xia determined to hang up the call.

All the while Bingbing, who was silently listening, spoke up moved by Xia’s concern, "Sister Qingtian, thank you for caring so much about me."

"Silly girl, we’re friends. If Qilin dares to bully you, tell me. We’ll deal with him together," Xia said assertively, assuming a stance of backing her up no matter what.

"Mm," Bingbing responded huskily.

After the call ended, Bingbing’s eyes were still a bit red.

Seeing that, Qilin felt distressed. He hurriedly handed her a tissue and asked confusingly, "Bingbing, you have been acting a bit strange these days. Did something happen? Why aren’t you telling Qingtian where we’re going?"

Of course, Bingbing was afraid that if that man couldn’t locate her, he might harm Xia Qingtian.

That was something she couldn’t say to Qilin.

Also, to lie when faced with Qilin’s questioning eyes was not something she wanted. She remained silent, simply pressing her lips together.
