"What’s the hurry?" she chinned at Huo Qilin, indicating him to keep up with her pace, and then spoke, "Come with me first. We’ll find somewhere quiet and then talk at length."

Huo Qilin was genuinely anxious. However, Xia Qingtian held the reins now – he had no option but to go along with her words.

The man hastened his steps and caught up with Xia Qingtian’s pace.

To give Cheng Bingbing a bit more time to gather her thoughts, Xia Qingtian took Huo Qilin on a few extra loops on the beach.

At first, Huo Qilin hadn’t noticed anything unusual. However, by their third loop, he finally sensed that something was off. Frowning, he asked, "Qingtian, what are you trying to do? Why are you taking me in circles?"

Since he’d realized it, Xia Qingtian couldn’t stall any longer.

"I mixed up the paths," she came up with an excuse and said, "Now that you mention it, I remember the way. Follow me."

As she spoke, she secretly sent Cheng Bingbing a text, warning her to be ready as she would be leading Huo Qilin over in three minutes at the latest.

Cheng Bingbing sent back an OK emoji in response.

Xia Qingtian effortlessly tucked her phone away, and then guided Huo Qilin toward the beach.

They arrived quickly.

The beach was bare, with only a few passersby. The desolate sight appeared particularly monotonous and lonely.

Huo Qilin cast a glance around the surroundings, then looked questioningly at Xia Qingtian and pressed, "What do you want to tell me that we had to come to such a place?"

Having brought him there, Xia Qingtian had fulfilled her part and it was time for her to exit the scene.

"You will see soon." She told Huo Qilin, "Stay here and don’t move. I need to fetch something. When you see what I’m bringing over, you won’t need me to say anything – you’ll understand."

Without waiting for any response from Huo Qilin, she rapidly exited the scene.

He stood silent, utterly confused about Xia Qingtian’s intent. Even though he felt anxious, knowing that the matter concerned Cheng Bingbing, he obediently stayed in position to wait for Xia Qingtian.

He waited for a while before he heard the rustling sound of footsteps on the sand behind him.

He assumed it was Xia Qingtian returning.

"Qingtian, what in the..." He turned around toward the source of the noise and found to his surprise that it was not Xia Qingtian but Cheng Bingbing – dressed in a bridal gown.

The white wedding gown looked impeccably pure, whereas Bingbing’s face was breathtakingly lovely. The combination of these contrasting appeals lent her an entrancing aura that was making him gasp for breath.

"You..." He opened his mouth, intending to say something, but found his throat suddenly dry and tense, rendering him speechless.

He just stared at Cheng Bingbing foolishly.

After a while, he clumsily pointed in the direction Xia Qingtian had disappeared to and stuttered, "Today, she... she set up our meeting. But she and I... I mean, nothing’s between us. I came only because she mentioned something about you. I... I don’t have feelings for her anymore. I... I like you. Trust me!"

He had come with Xia Qingtian and was afraid Cheng Bingbing might misconstrue. His first instinct was to clear any doubts.

Cheng Bingbing had been nervous earlier, but seeing Huo Qilin more jittery than herself, she somewhat relaxed.

Looking at Huo Qilin desperately clearing any misunderstandings, her heart melted.

"I know..." She bit her lip, curbing the laughter trickling onto her face as she looked up into Huo Qilin’s eyes.

Cheng Bingbing nodded and explained, "Yes, I asked Qingtian to help me set up this meeting."

Huo Qilin swallowed nervously, his gaze fixed intently on her as he asked, "You asked me to meet, are you..."

As they embraced each other, suddenly, radiant lights illuminated their surroundings.

Then, beautiful fireworks lit up the beach like a sky full of stars falling down, casting a glow on their faces. The scene was romantic and tender.

"What is..." Huo Qilin stood dumbfounded, unable to comprehend what was happening. He seemed rather dazed.
