Chapter 748: Chapter 748: Cleared of suspicion_1

The phone was connected quickly.

Shi Qian expressed gratitude to the person on the other end, "Junjun, thank you for helping me out this time. I’m safe now, free from suspicion."

Shen Junru was instrumental in helping her this time.

When Bo’s mother’s doctor called her, explaining that Bo Jingyan had grown suspicious about his mother’s condition, she realized she was in deep trouble.

The situation was urgent, she had no solution, so she sought the help of Shen Junru, who was at the gym.

After Shen Junru heard all the details, she told Shi Qian to act as if nothing had happened and that she would handle everything else.

However, she didn’t reveal her plan.

Nervously, Shi Qian waited for several days. Shen Junru had only said that she would help, but without mentioning what help she would provide, or whether she could actually pull it off.

It was only until today that the old oriental medicine doctor suddenly overturned his previous diagnosis. The surgeon who operated on Bo’s mother even issued a report certifying that the main doctor had not tampered with any evidence, thus dispelling Bo Jingyan’s suspicions.

Only then was she fully safe and able to put her worries to rest.

"I’m glad you’re okay," Shen Junru said.

Shi Qian couldn’t help but ask out of curiosity, "How did you manage to change the mind of that old oriental medicine doctor?"

She concluded that the surgeon who had operated on Bo’s mother must have been bribed by Shen Junru, but how did she manage to deal with the old doctor?

Ever since she found out that her plot had been exposed by some old man whom she knew nothing about, she had discreetly investigated his past.

She discovered that the old man was a highly respected oriental medicine doctor with a notoriously bad temper and stubborn nature.

He had a nonchalant attitude towards money and power.

The research showed that a foreign politician once invited him abroad for treatment. But, he insisted on treating his patients in order of severity, even making the politician wait in line, despite the hefty price offered and numerous perks promised.

Just like that, he was a man who remained undaunted by authority and uninterested in fame or fortune.

When she saw these investigation results, Shi Qian’s heart sank. If the old doctor did not change his diagnosis, she would always run the risk of being exposed.

A large part of her worries over the past few days stemmed from the old doctor.

She was curious about how Shen Junru managed to convince the obstinate old doctor.

Shen Junru was not planning on hiding anything from Shi Qian.

Since her cousins from the Shen Family were making their way to A City, she would be quite occupied and could easily slip up in managing her affairs. Therefore, Shi Qian would have to handle some things on her own.

In a straightforward manner, Shen Junru explained, "Everyone has their own fears, that old doctor might not be fond of money, but he fears for his two-year-old grandson who was left under his care after his son and daughter-in-law died in a car accident five years ago."

"If you can control the child, it’s not just a matter of making the old doctor change his diagnosis. He would probably agree to anything, even if it meant his own death."

Upon hearing this, Shi Qian immediately understood that Shen Junru had threatened the old doctor’s grandson, promising to ensure the child’s safety.

Although such a method was admittedly unsavoury, it was undeniably effective.

"So, that’s how it was," she expressed her shock, "Junjun..."

"Miss Shen, where should this bookshelf go?"

Before Shi Qian could say anything else, she heard Shen Junru’s conversation with someone else.

"The bookshelf should be placed in the study on the second floor, around the corner. The piano goes in the first room on the right of the third floor."

"Alright."

"Junjun, are you moving?" Shi Qian couldn’t help but ask.

It wasn’t Shen Junru who was moving, but her cousins from the Shen Family who were coming to A City to find the mother of Xia Qingtian, Shen Lanxin. However, this was not something Shi Qian needed to know.

As a final thought, Shen Junru cryptically warned, "You just need to take care of yourself. Don’t worry about my affairs."

Shi Qian detected the warning in her words. She knew she would still need Shen Junru’s help in the future and could not afford to offend her. Therefore, she replied compliantly, "Alright, I was meddling too much. I won’t interfere in your affairs anymore."

Shen Junru was somewhat satisfied with Shi Qian’s response. She said, "I’m going to be very busy for a while and won’t have time to focus on your affairs."

She needed to make arrangements in anticipation of her cousins’ arrival. She couldn’t let them easily discover that Xia Qingtian was Shen Lanxin’s daughter and carried the Shen family’s blood. If Xia Qingtian was recognized by the Shen family, it would affect Shen Junru’s status in the family.

She absolutely couldn’t allow that to happen.

"Huh?" Shi Qian was a bit panicked, "You’re not going to help me anymore? I can’t do this on my own!"

After almost being exposed once, she was on edge, fearing that Bo Jingyan would detect her sneaky attempts.

"Who says you can’t do it on your own?" Shen Junru did not plan on changing her stand, "Before you met me, you were doing just fine, weren’t you?"

Shi Qian remained silent, expressing her stance.

Although Shen Junru found this annoying, she still needed to use Shi Qian. Therefore, she suppressed her annoyance and reassured Shi Qian, "I will sort everything out before letting go. I will make sure the doctors treating Bo’s mother, including that old doctor, abide by your instructions."

"The most important thing is, I’m not truly abandoning you. I simply have more pressing matters to attend to. If you run into any insoluble problems or extremely urgent situations, you can still contact me. I will still help you."

Realizing that Shen Junru was not planning to completely wash her hands of the matter, Shi Qian breathed a sigh of relief, "That’s good. I was so afraid you would abandon me."

Shen Junru laughed, "How could I do that?"

Unless Xia Qingtian disappeared from the world and no longer threatened her status, she would never give up on using Shi Qian, a useful pawn that had willingly walked into the trap.

However, she did not reveal her intentions directly. Instead, she sugar-coated it.

She told Shi Qian, "We’re friends, I won’t abandon you."

The smile that spread across Shi Qian’s face was cold.

Did Shen Junru really think she was a fool? That she was easily deceived?

Thoughts unspoken, she continued to play along with Shen Junru, pretending to be best friends.
