Chapter 742: Chapter 742: No Recurrence of Cancer_1

Madam Bo always held a deep respect for the old patriarch Bo.

Upon hearing from Bo Jingyan that Dr. Gu was the old man’s friend, even without having met him she was very respectful, greeting him, "Mr. Gu ..."

Dr. Gu had communicated with Bo Jingyan before his arrival.

He did not expose Bo Jingyan, but simply nodded at Madam Bo, exchanging a few polite words.

Bo Jingyan began, "Mr. Gu comes from a long line of healers, his forebears were even royal physicians in the palace. He is an excellent doctor. Let him take your pulse and give you some nourishing prescriptions to strengthen your body."

Having been a patient for many years and taken medication for equally as long, Madam Bo had a certain aversion to hospitals and doctors.

Hearing what Bo Jingyan had said, she almost reflexively wanted to decline, "That’s too much trouble!"

Dr. Gu stroked his white beard and asked, "Do you refuse because you think I’m too old and can’t trust my medical skills?"

Madam Bo immediately explained when she noticed his misunderstanding, "That’s not what I mean."

"If not, then please extend your hand and let me take your pulse." Dr. Gu, who had treated various types of patients in his many years of practice, knew how to handle Madam Bo effectively.

Considering that Dr. Gu was a friend of the elderly patriarch Bo, Madam Bo suppressed her urge to refuse, extended her hand and conceded, "Then, I’ll trouble you, Mr. Gu."

Seeing this, Dr. Gu nodded his head in satisfaction.

He stepped forward and brought out his diagnostic tools before starting to take Madam Bo’s pulse with a serious expression.

"Hmm..." he mused for a while, then suddenly furrowed his brows in confusion, a hint of puzzlement evident in his slightly cloudy eyes.

Seeing his reaction, Bo Jingyan, Madam Bo, and even Xia Qingtian on the other end of the phone, were filled with apprehension.

With an involuntary clench of her fist, Xia Qingtian wondered, could Madam Bo’s illness be really serious?

Could even Dr. Gu be unable to cure it?

They had spent so much time to bring Dr. Gu because he was exceptional, having cured many cancer patients.

If not even Dr. Gu can help Madam Bo, the situation would be grim, and her relationship with Bo Jingyan would have to remain hidden.

Everyone was anxious, yet none dared to disturb Dr. Gu.

After an indeterminable amount of time, Dr. Gu withdrew his hand, observed the color of Madam Bo’s eyes and her tongue coating.

In the end, he asked Madam Bo many questions, and the more he asked, the tighter his brows knitted, as if he was facing an enigma.

Bo Jingyan was afraid that Madam Bo’s condition was bad, but even though he was anxious, he did not dare to ask in front of her.

He tactfully suggested, "Mr. Gu, as for how to nourish my mother’s body, you can consult her attending doctor."

The implication being, if Madam Bo’s condition was indeed severe, he hoped that it would not be revealed in front of her.

Given the copious amount of pills she had consumed over the latter half of her life, not to mention the countless physicians she had met, she was on to these unspoken rules and categorically refused to be kept in the dark.

"You don’t need to use such tactics in front of me..." she began. "Just tell me directly what the situation is, no matter what the result is, I can bear it."

At worst, her disease would progress, and she would soon pass away.

Truthfully, she wasn’t afraid of death.

Everyone will face this day eventually, and her health had deteriorated significantly over the years. She was mentally prepared for it.

With a solemn expression, Dr. Gu informed Bo Jingyan, "I just felt your mother’s pulse and found that apart from being overly melancholic, which often causes her headaches and disrupts her sleep, there are no pathological changes in her other organs."

Regardless of Bo Jingyan’s exemplary composure in the face of calamity, he still looked shocked.

"What do you mean?" he asked incredulously.

Stroking his beard, Dr. Gu wore a thoughtful expression, "What I mean is, your mother...I can’t find any cancer in her body!"

"No cancer? How’s that possible?" Madam Bo was equally shocked, "I’ve had a comprehensive examination at the hospital. The doctors have already clearly told me that my leukemia has relapsed and that there are cancer cells in my body."

"This is what I find unfathomable," said Dr. Gu with a certain conviction. "In any case, none of your mother’s organs show signs of pathological changes, essentially the Western medicine diagnosis of cancer—she does not have cancer!"

"Could you have made a mistake?" Finally, it was the only conclusion Madam Bo could draw.

Bo Jingyan didn’t speak. However, he didn’t believe Dr. Gu was mistaken.

Prior to finding Dr. Gu, he had done a lot of research and was aware of Dr. Gu’s prowess in medical skill. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have taken off work, left Xia Qingtian, and waited for Dr. Gu for several days.

Dr. Gu’s words were definitely worth considering.

"I started learning medicine at the age of three and it’s been over sixty years. While there may be diseases that I can’t cure, there are absolutely none that I can’t diagnose or you can say, diagnose incorrectly," Dr. Gu said solemnly.

Medical skill was his greatest pride and the basis of his reputation, and he would not allow anyone to doubt it!

Seeing Dr. Gu’s confident demeanor, Madam Bo also began to harbor doubts. Could it be...

That her cancer had not actually relapsed?

"What’s going on?" she asked, somewhat dazed.

Bo Jingyan had his suspicions, and just as he was about to say something, suddenly...

Loud noises came from outside the door.

"Who’s out there?" Bo Jingyan abruptly pulled open the ward door and was taken aback to see Madam Bo’s attending physician standing there. He frowned and asked in a severe tone, "What are you doing out here?"

A flicker of panic flashed in the attending doctor’s eyes upon seeing Bo Jingyan.

Forcing himself to remain calm, he replied, "I, I came to do rounds, wanted to see how Madam Bo was. When I got to the door, my pen fell on the ground. I just picked it up and the door to the room opened. You suddenly appeared, Bo, and asked why I was here."

"Coincidence?" Bo Jingyan squinted slightly, scrutinizing the doctor with piercing eyes.

Sensing his gaze, the physician felt goosebumps all over his body, but for his own safety, he simply had to proceed, "What coincidence?"

Bo Jingyan didn’t bother explaining and asked, "Did you hear any of our conversation in the ward?"

"No." The attending physician forced a smile, asking hesitantly, "What were you talking about? Was it something I should not hear?"
