Chapter 690: Chapter 690: Wanting to Tie Her Down_1
Xia Qingtian didn’t disturb Bo Jingyan, instead, she leaned against the kitchen door, silently watching him.
Bo Jingyan, who was cooking, once seemed unapproachable and aloof, but now, the domesticity he exuded with the pan and stove made him appear unbelievably gentle.
She was just angry at him for frustrating her in bed, wishing she could bite him out of rage.
Yet at this moment, an overwhelming wave of love surged in Xia Qingtian’s heart for the man standing before her eyes, easing the rage that had been there a moment ago.
She tried to hold it in but eventually couldn’t resist anymore, then walked into the kitchen and embraced him from behind.
Bo Jingyan, who was in the middle of cooking, froze.
"What’s wrong?" His cool voice now carried a hint of warmth.
"Nothing, just newfound love for you!" Xia Qingtian confessed, resting her head on his back.
Bo Jingyan’s deep eyes darkened slightly, "When you told me to stop in bed, weren’t you mad at me? How could you love me now?"
Upon recalling the incident in the bedroom, the love welling up in Xia Qingtian’s heart had simmered down.
She then released Bo Jingyan and urged him to finish cooking in a tone void of emotion, "When will the meal be ready? I’m starving!"
"Soon," replied Bo Jingyan, "You go wash your hands. When you come back, it’ll be ready."
Xia Qingtian stuck her tongue out at him before she dashed to the washroom to wash her hands.
As Bo Jingyan promised, when she returned, all the dishes were ready and neatly served on the dining table along with bowls and chopsticks.
Confronted with the sumptuous meal, she started to gorge herself due to her extreme hunger.
"Slow down. There’s nobody competing with you." Seeing her devour the food, Bo Jingyan advised her tenderly while picking up food for her with his chopsticks. He carefully removed the fish bones and prawn shells for her.
After Xia Qingtian had gulped down a bowl of rice, she slowed down, finally having time to talk to Bo Jingyan.
"How is today’s meal?" Bo Jingyan gazed at her expectantly.
"Utterly scrumptious," Xia Qingtian gave him a thumbs up.
Although Bo Jingyan could cook scanty dishes, they were mediocre at best. Today’s meal, however, was a massive improvement.
If she hadn’t seen him stir-frying the last dish with her own eyes, she might have believed him to have ordered these dishes from a five-star hotel.
Unable to contain her curiosity, she asked, "How did you get so good at cooking?"
"I have been learning from a descendant of the Imperial Chef," Bo Jingyan quipped, a satisfied grin on his face, "Seems like my tuition fee wasn’t wasted, given this splendid outcome."
Upon hearing this, Xia Qingtian was left with more questions.
Unable to hold it in anymore, she asked, "Why are you learning cooking?"
"In order to win someone’s heart, you first need to win their stomach. I’ve been hooked by your cooking. I wanted to do the same for you. I want you to depend on me for life."
Although his words sounded like a joke, Bo Jingyan’s tone was utterly serious.
Thus, Xia Qingtian knew he was serious; he really meant it.
A faint sweetness welled up in her heart, and she couldn’t help but smile. The food in her mouth even tasted better.
However, she didn’t dwell on it and turned her focus to another issue instead.
She asked with concern, "If I remember correctly, you were supposed to look for the traditional doctor for your mother’s treatment, not learning how to cook. More importantly, did you find the person?"
"Don’t worry, I’ve found the person!" Bo Jingyan served her a piece of fish.
"Can he cure your mother’s illness?" Xia Qingtian was no longer in the mood for food.
"It’s uncertain for now. Only when he reaches A City and diagnoses her personally will we find out." Bo Jingyan responded calmly.
"When is he coming to A City?" Xia Qingtian asked worriedly.
"In a week’s time," Bo Jingyan replied, "There’s another patient who he’s treating and is expected to fully recover in a week. He promised me that he would come over after that."
"A week, that’s not too long," Xia Qingtian nodded.
Healing doesn’t happen overnight. Considering the traditional doctor’s conscientiousness with his patients, if Bo Jingyan’s mother’s ailment were entrusted to him, they would be assured.
Bo Jingyan tweaked, "You’re so concerned about this - do you want to heal my mother’s ailment quickly so that we can announce our relationship?"
Xia Qingtian was only genuinely concerned about Bo Jingyan’s mother.
Even though his mother disliked her and did not accept her, her grandson An’an, and was thereby a significant reason behind their divorce, Xia Qingtian still wished for her recovery.
However, to keep Bo Jingyan happy after he had cooked such a delectable meal, Xia Qingtian didn’t argue but responded playfully, "You’re right. I can’t wait to see your mother recover. Then, I can tell the whole world that you, Bo Jingyan, are taken again, and all the vixens should stay away."
If this could make Bo Jingyan a bit happier, Xia Qingtian really wouldn’t mind doing so.
Sure enough, upon hearing her say it, a smile plucked itself on Bo Jingyan’s stony face.
...
While Xia Qingtian and Bo Jingyan were enjoying their cozy lunch, another man was also busy with his plans.
Huo Qilin went straight to see Cheng Bingbing after parting ways with Xia Qingtian.
As Xia Qingtian wasn’t around, he wasn’t ushered into the mansion by the maid. With no other choice, he had to call Cheng Bingbing.
Cheng Bingbing couldn’t believe it when she received his call. It felt like a dream.
It was only when she bit her lip and felt the pain, did she realize that it wasn’t a dream.
She picked up the call with trembling fingers, "Hello, Qilin, how are you doing? Are you okay? Qingtian told me you were upset. Are you alright now?"
"I’m fine!" replied Huo Qilin, maintaining his calm but with his heart thumping violently.
His actions on set must have caused Cheng Bingbing considerable trouble. Yet, she showed no resentment, but instead expressed concern for him when they spoke.
Now that Huo Qilin had recognized his feelings for Cheng Bingbing, his heart fluttered at her caring gesture.
