Chapter 674: Chapter 674: Impossible Jealousy_1
Xia Qingtian’s harsh yet benevolent approach resulted in a significant change in the male artist’s facial expression, causing him to look much more serious.
"Don’t worry, Xia. I’ll make sure to do what I’ve promised," he assured Qingtian, sounding very sincere.
Xia Qingtian was quite satisfied at his response.
"Take some good rest," she said and then left the room.
Once she stepped out of the patient’s room, she saw Cheng Bingbing pacing nervously back and forth in the hallway, her head spinning from the constant movement.
She gently massaged her throbbing temples, "Doesn’t all this pacing tire you out?"
Upon hearing Xia Qingtian, Bingbing’s eyes brightened as she quickly approached, grabbed Qingtian’s hand and asked, "Sister Qingtian, how did it go? Did he say he won’t hold Qilin accountable?"
"Uh-huh," replied Xia Qingtian, nodding her head.
Cheng Bingbing heaved a sigh of relief and was about to ask something else.
Seeing that Bingbing, who was pregnant and should avoid staying in hospitals for too long, Qingtian didn’t give her a chance to speak. Instead, she gently held Bingbing’s wrist saying, "Let’s leave the hospital first. We can discuss everything back at the company. I’ve asked for a few days off for you from the production team."
"Uh-huh, sure thing," Bingbing nodded obediently.
Soon, the two left the hospital together and got into Xia Qingtian’s car.
On the way back, Bingbing didn’t speak, not wanting to distract Qingtian’s attention. Instead, she looked out the window with a grave expression on her face.
Seeing Bingbing’s impatience, Qingtian couldn’t help but laugh a bit. Knowing Bingbing was in a hurry, she increased her driving speed.
They reached the company in no time because it wasn’t peak hours.
Once there, Qingtian led Bingbing straight to her office.
In the safety of the office, Bingbing no longer needed to hold herself back. Looking nervous, she said, "Sister Qingtian, many people saw Qilin hitting someone on set today. If word of this gets out, it could possibly ruin his career. We have to suppress this news!"
After living with Huo Qilin for so long, she knew how much he loved singing and performing.
If this incident were to end his career, Qilin would be devastated.
"Don’t worry, I already took care of it after going to the hospital," Xia Qingtian reassured. "As your agent, surely you’d expect such professionalism from me."
"That’s a relief then," Bingbing’s face turned red, feeling her reminder was unnecessary.
Xia Qingtian poured a glass of water for both of them and then said solemnly, "You’ve finished saying what you wanted to say. Now it’s your turn to answer my questions."
Bingbing looked at Qingtian nervously.
However, she trusted Qingtian and knew she wouldn’t harm Qilin or herself, so she nodded and said, "Okay, Sister Qingtian. Ask me whatever you want to know."
Xia Qingtian asked a question that had been bothering her, "Didn’t Qilin go to another city to find some inspiration? When did he return? How did he suddenly appear on set?"
As Qilin’s agent, how was it possible that she had no idea about his return?
No one even thought to inform her!
Bingbing looked slightly confused, "I’m not sure either. He never told me he was coming back. If it weren’t for him showing up suddenly on set and hitting Wang Xiao, I would’ve had no idea that he was back."
Wang Xiao was the male artist Qilin had hit.
Qingtian felt extremely exasperated. She didn’t know what Qilin was up to.
Seeing Bingbing was also clueless about Qilin’s return, Qingtian decided not to push it. After all, when he returned wasn’t crucial.
She continued her questioning, "Then why did Qilin hit Wang Xiao out of the blue? Did they have any conflicts?"
"I don’t think so. They had hardly even met before, let alone had any arguments," Bingbing replied, shaking her head blankly.
Xia Qingtian was getting increasingly frustrated.
"Tell me about it, what exactly happened? Be sure to include all the details. Don’t leave anything out," Qingtian asked, suppressing her annoyance.
"Let me think...," Bingbing began but quickly blushed, "I was so scared and panicked. I didn’t notice much, I can hardly remember anything."
"It’s okay," Xia Qingtian comforted, "Just tell me whatever you remember."
Bingbing nodded and began to recall, "Wang Xiao and I were rehearsing a scene that hadn’t turned out well, so the director had us to take a break and find our momentum again. That’s when Qilin suddenly showed up, pushed Wang Xiao onto the floor. Wang Xiao’s assistants, the make-up artist and I were shocked. Just as we started trying to intervene, he had already hit Wang Xiao twice."
"By the time we reached them, Qilin asked the assistants and the make-up artist whether they were on site all the time. After their confirmation, he seemed to realize something and let go of Wang Xiao. Then, he left the scene. To this day, I still have no idea what exactly happened."
Upon hearing Bingbing’s account, Xia Qingtian felt everything was normal and couldn’t see any reason why Qilin would suddenly lash out at Wang Xiao.
The only possible explanation, she could think of was –
"Could it be that Qilin was jealous of Wang Xiao?" Qingtian ventured to ask Bingbing.
"Impossible!" Bingbing responded.
Qingtian looked at her surprised. Bingbing’s statement was quite assertive.
After all, Bingbing and Wang Xiao had many intimate scenes in the play. Qingtian thought it would be normal for Qilin, as Bingbing’s boyfriend, to be jealous.
Why was Bingbing so adamant in her denial?
"Why not?" Qingtian asked, puzzled.
Bingbing hesitated for a while.
How could she tell Qingtian that she and Qilin were only in a fake relationship? Qilin didn’t have any feelings for her and thus, wouldn’t be jealous no matter how intimate she became with others.
If she were to say this, she would essentially be betraying Qilin.
In the end, she could only conjure a casual excuse, "That’s because Qilin isn’t the petty type. He wouldn’t hit someone just out of jealousy!"
Qingtian had merely speculated earlier.
Seeing Bingbing’s firm belief and defense of Qilin, despite finding her reasoning a little far-fetched, Qingtian chose not to argue further.
