Chapter 673: Chapter 673: Both Sides are Hurt_1
"Alright." The assistant director agreed, "Then you better rush over here."
After Xia Qingtian hung up the phone, she didn’t delay, rushing to the set as fast as she could.
Director Zhao lived up to his reputation. Despite the big incident of an actor being assaulted on set, she found everything in order upon her arrival, with Director Zhao continuing the filming process.
Upon seeing this scene, Xia Qingtian quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
Looking at the state of the set, the actor who got beaten by Huo Qilin probably wasn’t injured severely, was he?
However, for some reason, she went around the entire set without spotting Cheng Bingbing or Huo Qilin.
Fortunately, she found the assistant director.
Xia Qingtian’s eyes lit up. She immediately grabbed him and said, "Director, I’m here now. Can you tell me what happened? Where are Bingbing and Qilin? How is the actor who got beaten? Is he seriously injured?"
The assistant director sighed, "You’ve asked so many questions all at once, I’m not sure which one to answer first."
Xia Qingtian realized that she indeed had fired a barrage of questions.
Suppressing her anxious heart, she asked, "Where are Bingbing and Qilin? I didn’t see them when I came."
"Huo Qilin left the set after he beat up the actor." The assistant director cooperatively replied, "As for Bingbing, she went to the hospital with the beaten-up actor."
"Qilin left? Where did he go?" Xia Qingtian immediately pursued the topic.
The assistant director shrugged, "How would I know?"
Seeing that she wouldn’t get any useful information from him, Xia Qingtian didn’t push further. Instead, she asked other questions, "How’s the beaten-up actor? Is he seriously injured?"
"He seems to be pretty badly hurt." The assistant director said, "When he was taken away by the ambulance, he was bleeding non-stop from his nose. And there was quite a lot of blood."
Upon hearing that the male actor was carried away by an ambulance, Xia Qingtian’s heart sank heavily.
"Director, can you please tell the staff not to disclose this incident to anyone before I investigate it thoroughly?" She smiled apologetically at the assistant director and requested.
"Since you’ve made your request, I will naturally respect it. However..." The assistant director glanced at her, leaving his sentence unfinished.
Having been immersed in the entertainment industry for so long, Xia Qingtian had developed a keen instinct to understand unfinished statements, and quickly inferred his veiled request.
Given she needed his cooperation, she certainly had to provide some benefits.
After a brief moment of contemplation, she uttered, "Assistant Director, Bingbing often says that you’re extremely talented and that being an assistant director is not enough for you on set. As you may know, our company is preparing to go public and has bought many famous IPs, planning to adapt them into movies. When the time comes, we would appreciate your guidance."
Hearing her tactful response, the assistant director was quite satisfied.
"I can keep this matter under wraps for now, making sure the staff don’t leak anything to the media." He reminded Xia Qingtian, "But I can’t control the victim."
"Yes, I know. I’ll figure out something for the victim myself." Xia Qingtian nodded, indicating her understanding.
After they reached a consensus, Xia Qingtian left the set.
She first called Cheng Bingbing to find out which hospital the beaten-up actor was in, and then rushed there as quickly as she could.
Soon, she arrived.
By the time she arrived, the beaten actor had already been transferred to a general ward, with Cheng Bingbing in the room, anxiously saying something to him.
Xia Qingtian knocked on the door and went in.
When Cheng Bingbing saw Xia Qingtian, her eyes immediately reddened, and she found comfort in her presence.
"Sister Qingtian..." she choked out in a half-sobbing voice."
Xia Qingtian could tell that she was terrified. She reassured her by patting her hand, saying, "It’s okay, leave this matter to me. Go wash your face and compose yourself. Then contact Huo Qilin and ask him to go back to the company. I have something to discuss with him."
Cheng Bingbing was worried about the predicament Huo Qilin had gotten himself into.
She wanted to ask Xia Qingtian what she planned to say to Huo Qilin and whether this incident would negatively impact him, but she knew it wasn’t the right time to ask these questions.
All she could do was suppress her anxiety and agree, "Okay."
Following that, she obediently left the ward.
Leaving just Xia Qingtian and the beaten male actor in the ward.
The male actor was badly injured, with his nose bone broken.
Xia Qingtian didn’t think Huo Qilin was the violent type, she wondered what could have possibly escalated the conflict between the two of them to this extent.
Perhaps, there were yet untold complexities!
Carrying these thoughts in her mind, Xia Qingtian maintained a calm demeanour. She first conveyed her sincere apologies to the injured actor, then proposed many compensation solutions, hoping for a peaceful resolution.
No matter the hidden details, assault was always wrong.
This incident had to be kept under wraps, or else it would fatally harm Huo Qilin’s career.
If she found out later that the male actor truly had done something deserving of a beating, she would certainly have ways to retrieve any compensations he took advantage of.
Any player in the entertainment industry craved for more success and fame.
Even though the male actor had been beaten up inexplicably, if he could trade the beating for lucrative opportunities that could better his career, it would be worth it.
So, when Xia Qingtian proposed her terms for compensation, he feigned hesitation before agreeing.
Xia Qingtian had anticipated that he wouldn’t reject, but hearing him agree was a moment of relief, not that she wasn’t anxious given the enormity of the situation.
On a smaller scale, this would affect Huo Qilin’s career.
In a broader context, this could possibly jeopardize the company’s plan to go public. How could she not be anxious?
Luckily, the male actor was astute enough to agree!
Xia Qingtian went on to reiterate a few points to the male actor, asking him to keep the incident on set a secret and assured him all the promised compensations would be issued.
In the end, she subtly warned him once again.
If he refused to stick to his promise, she wouldn’t sit back either.
After all, no one in the entertainment industry was perfectly clean. Once his dirty secrets were exposed, it would not benefit the male actor. On the other hand, Star Entertainment had a proficient PR team. With a little manipulation online, they could wreak significant damage.
The end result would be a lose-lose situation, which wasn’t beneficial for anyone.
That was an outcome everyone wished to avoid.
