Shi Qian achieved her goal, but facing Bo Jingyan’s questions, she stammered, unsure of how to explain.

She dared not admit that she had been following them around like a stalker.

Upon seeing her reaction, Xia Qingtian smirked, asking nonchalantly, "Surely, you didn’t stick around and then follow Jingyan and me here, did you?"

Shi Qian’s heart skipped a beat, and her temples throbbed.

"No!" she instinctively denied. "I wasn’t following you."

Seeing her denial, the smile on Xia Qingtian’s face deepened. "Since you say you weren’t following us, could you explain why you suddenly appeared in this restaurant?"

Facing Xia Qingtian’s gentle but persistent questioning, Shi Qian’s palms and back were covered in a fine layer of sweat, which was quickly chilled by the air conditioning, causing her to uncontrollably shiver.

"Why so quiet? Surely I wasn’t right?" Xia Qingtian raised an eyebrow, teasing.

Shi Qian felt distinctly that Bo Jingyan’s gaze had turned colder and showed a hint of disgust. This was the last thing that she wanted.

She bit her lip, the pain restoring some of her calm and sanity.

"I..." She suddenly thought of an excuse. "I came to eat. Bo’s mother had assigned me to supervise Brother Jingyan’s lunch today. But he said he had already eaten, so I decided to have lunch in a nearby restaurant. I didn’t expect to see him here, is it wrong for me to say hello?"

Xia Qingtian did not expect her to come up with an excuse.

Although both she and Bo Jingyan didn’t believe it, her excuse made sense, and no one could critique Shi Qian any longer.

Shi Qian passed this test, and Xia Qingtian didn’t get mad.

Yet, Bo Jingyan looked indifferent. "Who I dine with is my business. What does it have to do with you?"

Feeling incredibly embarrassed, Shi Qian forced herself to maintain composure.

"It is none of my business..." she clenched her fists, continuing, "But it involves Bo’s mother. She dislikes Xia Qingtian, and if she knew that you are still seeing each other after the divorce, what would she think?"

"Brother Jingyan, don’t you remember that Bo’s mother can’t be overexcited? Don’t you care about her wellbeing?"

Her words were clearly a threat to Bo Jingyan.

Bo Jingyan looked at her as if looking at a dead person, devoid of any warmth, "Shi Qian, are you threatening me?"

Shi Qian was frightened by his gaze and took two steps back, but quickly regained her composure.

She took a deep breath and tried to sound gentle, "Brother Jingyan, I didn’t mean to threaten you. I’m just worried about Bo’s mother, so I reminded you."

Bo Jingyan’s face was dark, but considering Bo’s mother’s health, he temporarily couldn’t do anything about Shi Qian.

Xia Qingtian was aware of everything and knew about Bo Jingyan’s predicament.

Though she wasn’t afraid of Shi Qian, she was willing to step back for Bo Jingyan. She stood up from the chair and said, "I suddenly remembered that I have something to deal with and won’t have time for lunch. I’ll leave first."

She picked up her bag and turned to leave.

Xia Qingtian raised an eyebrow somewhat nonchalantly and said, "I don’t know if my answer will please you, but I know that you should let go or else..."

She didn’t continue, but her meaningful look at Shi Qian made her point clear.

Bo Jingyan understood her meaning.
