Chapter 638: Chapter 638: Intense Heartbeat_1

Truth be told, Huo Qilin was somewhat stirred by what Cheng Bingbing had said.

"Won’t it be a lot of trouble?" He tentatively asked.

Bingbing offered a slight smile, gently saying, "If you find it bothersome, then just do me a favor and let’s do it together."

Her suggestion received an enthusiastic response from Qilin.

"Alright," he agreed readily.

Without wasting any more time, the two headed out early to do the shopping.

They bought a ton of stuff back.

What started as a fine day turned rainy suddenly when they were about to head back. To get home as quickly as possible, they bought a large umbrella to share on their way.

When they arrived in the residential area, Cheng Bingbing suddenly stopped.

Seeing this, Qilin also halted, expressing his concern, "What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Bingbing shook her head and said, "I think I heard a strange noise."

With that, she held up the umbrella, took Qilin’s hand and walked towards the source of the sound. Pushing aside the plants in the flower bed, they found a cold, shivering kitten, making a faint meowing sound.

The sound she had heard was from this tiny kitten.

Seeing the kitten, Bingbing’s eyes lit up. She wanted to take it home, but considering she was living at Qilin’s, she felt it would be awkward to suggest bringing the kitten back.

"Qilin..." She called him hesitantly, wanting to discuss it with him, yet she was at a loss as to how to put it.

But Qilin seemed to be able to read her mind. He spontaneously suggested, "This kitty is adorable. Let’s take it home."

Upon hearing these words, a sincere smile unfolded on Bingbing’s face.

"Really?" She looked at Qilin with bright eyes.

Although it was night, Qilin found her smile so dazzling, it could light up the whole world. He could feel his heart thumping in his chest.

Noticing that Qilin didn’t reply, but stared at her, Bingbing felt a bit baffled. "Qilin?" she asked.

Qilin snapped out of his thoughts upon her call, saying, "Of course it’s true, let’s take it home now."

With that, he held all the shopping bags in one hand and gently picked up the kitten by the scruff of its neck with the other. They headed home.

Once they were home, they dried off the kitten.

Then they bought some lamb milk powder and a feeding bottle from the downstairs convenience store. The kitten quickly devoured its meal, its little belly round and full. It appeared as though it knew Bingbing and Qilin had saved it.

It seemed to be rather attached to them, rubbing its head on their hands.

Bingbing felt her heart melt.

With hopeful eyes, she looked up at Qilin, "Qilin, can we adopt it?"

Witnessing her stare, Qilin felt his heart soften immediately.

Never mind adopting a kitten, he felt like if she were to ask for his life, he’d give it to her without hesitation. "Sure, let’s adopt the kitten, I’ll be the dad, and you’ll be the mom!"

Hearing this, Bingbing looked at him with surprise.

Qilin’s words were excessively ambiguous.

"You..." She suddenly felt her throat dry up, wanting to know what Qilin meant by that.

"How do you feel about that?" Qilin asked nonchalantly.

Seeing his behavior, Bingbing’s fluttering heart settled down. Maybe she was overthinking due to her feelings for Qilin.

Perhaps Qilin didn’t have such intentions at all.

Just one man and one woman picking up a stray and acting as its parents is quite normal.

Thinking this, Bingbing suppressed the wave of disappointment which had grown within her. She just nodded, "Sure."

Seeing her agreement, Qilin secretly sighed in relief.

His unpretentious demeanor was all a front, he had actually been nervous. Afraid that Bingbing would refuse or ask him why.

He wouldn’t be able to answer. His words were purely subconscious.

Once he realized what he’d said, he didn’t regret it or retract his words. Fortunately, Bingbing didn’t question him and even agreed.

Indeed, Bingbing was always this considerate and understanding. She never made people feel uncomfortable or awkward.

At this thought, another strange sensation arose within Qilin’s heart.

In the end, he suppressed it again and changed the subject, "Should we name the kitten?"

"Hmm..." Bingbing said, "Since I’m dreadful at naming things, you decide."

"Your name is Cheng Bingbing, and mine is Huo Qilin. Let’s each take a character from our names and call it Bingqilin (Ice-cream). How does that sound?" Qilin proposed after a moment’s thought.

"I think it’s great." Bingbing nodded, and turned her gaze to the kitten, "Bingqilin, your name is Bingqilin now, do you like it?"

Seemingly understanding her, Bingqilin meowed in a soft, kittenish way.

Bingbing exclaimed excitedly, "It likes its new name."

Having eaten its fill, Bingqilin was ready for a nap.

Qilin made a makeshift bed for Bingqilin from some old clothes. Bingqilin seemed content with it, crawling up and curling into a ball of fur. Soon, it was fast asleep, making contented purring sounds.

The kitten’s purrs were quite soothing. With these calming noises in the background, Bingbing and Qilin set out to prepare the instant food to be consumed in the upcoming period.

Dumplings were Bingbing’s first choice.

Not only were they easy for her to prepare, but they were also easy for Qilin to cook. Moreover, dumplings could have different fillings. Even if eaten for several days straight, they wouldn’t become monotonous.

Qilin, of course, had never made dumplings before.

However, under Bingbing’s guidance, he quickly learned, and even managed to make them quite well.

Once the dumplings were ready and in the refrigerator, it was quite late.

Yawning, Bingbing said, "It’s getting late, I’m going to sleep now. I have to shoot scenes for the drama tomorrow."

"You should rest early. Goodnight!" Qilin nodded.

Bingbing released her hands, her eyes moistened and shimmering. She turned to walk towards her room.

Watching her retreating figure, Qilin found himself calling out involuntarily, "Bingbing..."

Halting in her tracks, Bingbing turned to look at him, "What’s up? Do you need something else?"
