Chapter 635: Chapter 635: Hard not to be Moved _1

Huo Qilin glanced at Cheng Bingbing’s overly gorgeous face.

She was like a luxurious flower that should be treasured and adored in the palm of someone’s hand. He couldn’t even begin to imagine her standing in the kitchen, wearing an apron and cooking.

Seeing him silent, Cheng Bingbing raised an eyebrow and asked, laughing, "What? You don’t believe I can cook?"

Honestly, Huo Qilin did have some reservations.

However, he didn’t want to express his disbelief and risk offending Cheng Bingbing. He casually suggested a few dishes, "Boiled pork slices, chopped pepper fish head, Mapo tofu, and loofah soup."

He suggested some homely dishes, to which Cheng Bingbing replied, "Alright, I will cook them for you. Wait for me."

With that, she headed to the kitchen.

She opened the fridge, only to find nothing but chilled drinks and beer, not even a scallion. Regardless of how skilled she was, she couldn’t cook without ingredients.

She told Huo Qilin, "We don’t have any ingredients at home, I am going to do some shopping."

Huo Qilin instantly put down his guitar and stood up, "I’ll go with you. Even though I can’t choose the ingredients, I can at least help you carry them."

Cheng Bingbing certainly couldn’t refuse the chance to shop together with the man she liked.

"Okay," she agreed.

Huo Qilin lived in a prime location which belonged to the Huo family’s property. The place was left for him, and he liked it and decided to stay.

There was a large mall less than five hundred meters from the building.

The duo hit the supermarket together.

With clear goals, they quickly purchased all the ingredients they needed and even bought a watermelon on noticing a fresh supply.

In no time, they were heading back home, arms laden with groceries.

Once home, Cheng Bingbing, fearing that Huo Qilin might already be hungry, cut him a plate of watermelon to snack on. She then began to cook without further delay.

Huo Qilin would never sit idly in the living room as if he were some lord, waiting patiently for the meal.

He carried his plate of watermelon into the kitchen, asking, "Is there anything I can help with?"

Cheng Bingbing was organizing the ingredients when her hair tie snapped and her seaweed-like hair fanned all over her face.

With her hands smelling of fish, it was really inconvenient.

Just then, Huo Qilin approached and she immediately asked for help, "Could you find a clip from my room to help hold my hair up, it’s affecting my cooking."

"Okay," Huo Qilin agreed.

Soon, he brought the clip that Cheng Bingbing had asked for.

With Cheng Bingbing’s hands too wet to clip her hair herself, he walked up and began to bungle through the job without needing to be asked.

The playful strands of hair slipped through his fingers, a tingling sensation creeping up from the palm of his hand to his heart, causing a different feeling.

Cheng Bingbing was oblivious to his thoughts.

Seeing him abruptly stop, she asked, puzzled, "What’s wrong? Do you not know how to do it? If you really can’t, never mind, I’ll wash my hands and do it."

She was about to wash her hands and tie her hair up herself.

"No need, it’s just tying hair, how hard can it be? I can do it!" Huo Qilin ignored the strange feeling, promptly tying her hair up before asking, "Done. Is there anything else I can help with?"

"No, you can wait in the living room and I’ll call you when the meal is ready." Freed from the obstacle of her hair, Cheng Bingbing resumed her efficient preparation of the ingredients.

"I’ll stay here and keep you company," insisted Huo Qilin.

He couldn’t quite explain if he wanted to stay in the kitchen with Cheng Bingbing or if he felt it was rude to just sit in the living room and wait.

Cheng Bingbing’s smile grew more genuine, "Alright, as long as you don’t find it boring."

Though she thought cooking alone was fine, she was pleased that Huo Qilin chose to stay, even if they didn’t really talk.

Suddenly, Cheng Bingbing had no chance to even pay attention to Huo Qilin.

Worried that Huo Qilin was hungry, she started to speed up, focussing solely on cooking.

She even completely forgot about Huo Qilin’s presence in the kitchen.

Half an hour later, the aroma of delectable food wafted from the kitchen, along with Cheng Bingbing’s melodious voice, "Dinner’s ready. Prepare to dine."

Simultaneously, she was already carrying the dishes toward the dining area.

Huo Qilin didn’t just stand there, but helped her carry the dishes.

Together, they carried all the dishes and rice to the living room in two rounds.

"Wow, it smells great!" Huo Qilin looked at the mouth-watering dishes on the table and said, "They look delicious, I’m sure they taste great."

Cheng Bingbing served him a bowl of rice and said, "I haven’t cooked in a while and I’m a bit rusty. If it doesn’t taste good, tell me straightforwardly, I will improve."

"Mhm...mhm...mhm..." Huo Qilin responded absently.

When Cheng Bingbing served herself rice and sat down, he abandoned dinner table etiquette, tucked in his napkin and began wolfing down his food.

Cheng Bingbing looked at him expectantly, "How is the taste?"

"Delicious, absolutely delicious!" Huo Qilin swallowed the food in his mouth, his eyes bright as he gave her a thumbs-up, "If one day you want to quit being an artist, I will open a restaurant with you. With your skills, we’re sure to make money!"

Cheng Bingbing laughed at his enthusiasm, "You’re exaggerating. If you like it, I can cook for you regularly whenever I’m free, as a form of paying rent."

She knew her cooking skills were pretty decent, but not as extraordinary as Huo Qilin had made them to be.

Being able to cook for the man she liked, though, and having him appreciate it brought her immense joy and satisfaction.

"Fine." Hearing that from Cheng Bingbing felt like music to Huo Qilin’s ears, having had his fill of takeout long ago, "I can assist you, and even do the dishes."

"No..." Cheng Bingbing instinctively wanted to decline.

She felt Huo Qilin’s hands were more suited to being an artist, writing music scores and playing the guitar, not washing dishes and doing house chores.

However, Huo Qilin gave her no chance to protest.

For once, he took control of the situation, saying in an unyielding manner, "Okay, it’s settled. I’d rather continue eating takeout than having you do all the chores by yourself."

With the conversation having progressed to this point, Cheng Bingbing couldn’t keep protest.

"Alright then," she finally agreed.

Thus, it was settled that the duo would grocery shop together, with Cheng Bingbing taking on the cooking and Huo Qilin doing the dishes.

With the division of labour established, Huo Qilin resumed eating heartily once again.
