Chapter 617: Chapter 617: Locked Up_1

Huo Qilin effortlessly subdued Bingbing’s father with a grappling move.

A glimpse of wild defiance flashed across his normally gentle face.

"I don’t care who you are. If you lay a finger on her again" raising his finger at Cheng Bingbing, he growled threateningly, "believe it or not, I will make you pay a painful price!"

"Go easy, my arm’s about to break!" Bingbing’s father howled in pain.

Bingbing’s Mother, looking distressed at her husband’s condition, immediately demanded Bingbing, "Bingbing, that’s your father you’re talking about. How could let this brute manhandle him! Make him let go!"

Bingbing remained silent.

Because she, more than anyone else, didn’t want to plead for her father. She even wished that his arm was really twisted off, but feared that if his arm was actually broken, then it might get Huo Qilin in trouble.

No one understood better than her that her parents were ruffians, capable of anything.

Not to mention, she was a little selfish.

Would Huo Qilin think of her as cold-blooded if she was really indifferent to her father’s fate?

In an instant, countless thoughts flashed through Bingbing’s mind.

Finally, she had no choice but to grudgingly succumb, "Qilin, you should let him go."

Huo Qilin had wanted to teach Bingbing’s father a good lesson, for he despised men who hit women, regardless of whether the women were their wives or daughters.

However, now that Bingbing had spoken, he cast off Bingbing’s father, suppressing his disgust.

Bingbing’s father stumbled and fell to the ground, unable to get up for a long while.

Bingbing’s mother quickly rushed to his side, tears welling up in her eyes, "Husband, how are you?"

Just as Bingbing’s father was about to speak, a siren sounded...

The police arrived, led by the driver who, after Huo Qilin had gotten out of the car earlier, had decided to alert them. Bingbing’s father immediately started rolling around on the ground. "Officer, please, I’m the victim here, this man broke my arm. Arrest this man!" He exclaimed furiously, his eyes full of malice as he stared at Huo Qilin.

Before Huo Qilin could react, Bingbing, angered till she was pale, spoke up, explaining to the police the causes and consequences of the incident, "It’s not like he says, my father started it, he was just trying to rescue me."

She couldn’t understand why anyone could be so shameless, especially her biological father. She was disgusted to the point of feeling sick.

"You ungrateful child! You’d side with that man over your own father after he attacked me. You must be deluded!" Bingbing’s Mother vented angrily.

She turned to the officer to make her case, "Officer, this young man is the one who assaulted someone, arrest him."

Of course, the police would not take either party’s words for it.

Regardless of who hit first and who ended up being hit, they would all have to come to the station.

Ultimately, all four individuals, along with the driver who made the report, were taken to the station to make their statements.

The police worked efficiently; they quickly took everyone’s statements and went to the scene to collect CCTV footage, soon revealing the truth of the incident.

Cheng Bingbing was found innocent.

As for Huo Qilin and the driver, they were merely stepping in to help.

With regard to Bingbing’s parents, they would be administratively detained for three days and fined 500 for behaving provocatively. If they wanted to be released earlier, they would have to hire a lawyer.

Unyielding, Bingbing’s parents caused a commotion at the police station, demanding their release.

The police, showing no patience, forcefully subdued them and prepared to take them to the detention centre. Seeing there was no other way, Bingbing’s mother turned her gaze to Bingbing.

"Bingbing, did you not hear what the officer said? Get us a lawyer!"

Bingbing remained silent, using her silence to express her refusal and protest.

Bingbing’s Father threateningly added, "If she dares to not get us a lawyer, disobey us, then when I get out after three days, I will teach her a good lesson, she will learn about my authority as her father."

Shortly after, Bingbing’s parents were taken to the detention centre.

As they walked out of the police station, a gust of wind blew through, sending a chill through Bingbing.

She wasn’t sure whether her shivering was due to the cold, or the threat her father had made before leaving.

Huo Qilin noticed this and immediately took off his jacket, covering her shoulders, he asked, "Bingbing, do you want to hire a lawyer to bail them out? I can introduce you to one if you need."

Bingbing was firm in her response, "No! I do not intend to bail them out early."

Although her father had just threatened her, stating that if she did not bail out him and Bingbing’s mother, he would not let her go after he was released, and would teach her a harsh lesson.

But if she really found a lawyer to bail them out because of their threats, would they let her go?

The reason they came to A City this time was for money.

As long as she hadn’t given them money, no matter how good she was to them, or how filially she behaved, she wouldn’t get a word of satisfaction out of them. There was no way she could quench their greed.

Therefore, she’d rather take these three days of tranquility.

As for how her parents would treat her after they were released from the detention centre, she hadn’t yet figured out a solution, but one thing was certain, she would not compromise again.

How Huo Qilin would view her, whether he would think she was unfilial, she couldn’t consider at this point.

After all, he had already seen her at her worst, she might as well let go and leave everything to fate. Things couldn’t get any worse.

Upon hearing her words, Huo Qilin did not think she was unfilial, but breathed a sigh of relief.

"Thank goodness!" He couldn’t help but exclaim.

Bingbing looked at him in astonishment, "You said ’Thank goodness’?"

"Yes." Huo Qilin simply replied, "Had you intended to bail them out, I would have been rather disappointed."

"So..." Bingbing asked hesitantly, "Don’t you think it’s unfilial of me to abandon my parents and allow them to be detained by the police?"

Huo Qilin gazed at her earnestly, and said grimly, "Comrade Cheng Bingbing, bailing them out is not being filial. It is being foolishly filial. People should bear the consequences of their wrongdoings, including our parents. even though they are your parents, you have grown up and have your own thoughts and life now. You don’t have to always listen to them."

"You should control your own life!"

Bingbing paused, "My life... should be controlled by me?"

"Yes, you are an independent individual. No one can force you to do anything against your will, including your parents. So don’t torment yourself any longer." Huo Qilin assured her.
