Chapter 599: Chapter 599: Revealing the Secret to Her_1

Seeing that Xia Qingtian was still brazen enough to admit, Bo Jingyan broke into a laugh out of sheer anger.

Soon after, he took the check from Xia Qingtian’s hand.

Xia Qingtian, seeing this, thought that this matter was finally resolved and was about to breathe a sigh of relief, when suddenly...

Bo Jingyan’s face darkened abruptly. Before she could react, he ripped the check into shreds. With a flick of his hand, the pieces were scattered in the air, falling down like snowflakes.

"If you don’t want it, fine. No need to give it back to me." After saying this, he rolled down the car window and said to the driver, "Drive."

The driver, feeling the incredibly cold aura from him, pressed the accelerator nervously. The car shot forward like an arrow released from its bow.

Xia Qingtian was left standing rigidly on the spot.

After the car completely disappeared from her sight, she slowly squatted down and began to gather the fragments of the check that Bo Jingyan had just torn.

She was completely unaware that someone not far away was recording this scene with a camera.

The check was shredded to such small pieces that Xia Qingtian spent quite some time gathering them all.

After ensuring that she had picked up all the fragments and nothing was missing, she took out her cell phone to hail a car home. However, it was peak travel time.

Furthermore, this area was the city center. It was difficult to hail a cab, and there were still more than a hundred people waiting in line.

She had no idea how long it would take her turn to come.

As Xia Qingtian was debating whether to have someone from the company come to pick her up, suddenly...

The honk of a car horn startled her.

Looking up, she saw a black business car parked in front of her. As she gazed at it in confusion, the window rolled down to reveal a familiar face.

Xia Qingtian instantly widened her eyes, crying out in astonishment, "Jian Xuan? What are you doing here?"

She never expected to run into Jian Xuan right after Bo Jingyan had just left.

Jian Xuan got out of the car, a hint of resignation crossing his eyes, "Do you want the truth, or the lie that young master Bo has spun for you?"

On hearing Bo Jingyan’s name, an uncontrollable shudder seized Xia Qingtian’s heart.

Jian Xuan’s words gave her a pretty good idea as to why he had just popped up out of nowhere, in his car. Still, she murmured, "Of course I want the truth!"

"The truth is, I was at the office, minding my own business when young master Bo suddenly sent me a location and asked me to pick someone up and drop them off at a place she specifies," Jian Xuan said honestly. "He also didn’t want me to tell that all this was his directive and said if the person asks about it, I should tell her that I came here looking for him, couldn’t find him, and so ended up giving her a ride instead."

Xia Qingtian felt a lump in her throat as she listened.

Bo Jingyan had been so angry when he left, yet he was still caring for her quietly. He even concocted this elaborate lie, worrying she wouldn’t accept his concern.

He used to be the one who detests lies the most!

"Young master Bo didn’t specify who this person was, but when I received his orders, I already had a guess." Seeing that she did not respond, Jian Xuan continued, "Apart from you, he really has no patience for anyone else."

Xia Qingtian sucked in a deep breath to prevent herself from breaking down.

She nodded, "I understand."

After saying all that, Jian Xuan only got a three-word reply. He let out a mental sigh, "Young master Bo, I have done all I could. I have said all that needed to be said and even what probably didn’t."

After the mental sigh, he opened the car door for Xia Qingtian and gestured for her to get in.

"Please get in, Ma’am." Fearing Xia Qingtian would refuse a ride home, he started playing the victim, "Young master Bo ordered me to take you home. If I fail to do so, it would mean I didn’t do my job well. I am going to have a hard time explaining myself when I get back."

Xia Qingtian didn’t plan to make things hard for him and had no inclination to refuse.

However, she didn’t communicate any of this to Jian Xuan and silently got into the car.

Jian Xuan, on the other hand, heaved a huge sigh of relief.

His earlier words were not just a complaint. If he truly had failed to take Xia Qingtian home, he risked being subjected to his master’s cold treatment.

He dreaded the idea of being in an uncomfortable situation equivalent to standing exposed amidst freezing winds and snow, which would be a kind of mental torment he wished to avoid.

Thankfully, his worries never came to life.

After confirming the destination with Xia Qingtian, he smoothly delivered her there. Once he stopped the car, it was as if something suddenly occurred to him.

"Oh yes..." Jian Xuan reminded, "Ma’am, you must never tell anyone that I spilled the beans to you."

"Understood." Xia Qingtian nodded.

With the relationship between her and Bo Jingyan as strained as it was, it was unlikely they would meet again in the near future. Even if she wanted to talk, she wouldn’t have the opportunity.

Seeing her agreement, Jian Xuan breathed a sigh of relief.

As Xia Qingtian got out of the car, she subconsciously called out to him as if she wanted to say something, "Jian Xuan, you..."

She wanted to remind Jian Xuan to take good care of Bo Jingyan, not to let him skip meals just because he couldn’t taste anything.

However, the words died on her lips.

This was the man who broke Bo Jingyan’s command to let her know his concern. There was no guarantee that he wouldn’t relay her concerns to Bo Jingyan.

Xia Qingtian thought about how she’d done all she could to drive Bo Jingyan away today, to keep him a safe distance from her. If she needlessly instructed Jian Xuan now, wouldn’t all her efforts have been in vain?

Jian Xuan was Bo Jingyan’s assistant, a trusted aide placed by Bo’s father. Even if she didn’t ask, he would take good care of Bo Jingyan.

"Ma’am, what is it? Was there something you wanted to say?" Jian Xuan called out to her, noticing she had stopped suddenly in the middle of her sentence.

"It’s nothing." Snapping back to reality, Xia Qingtian knew she had made the right call and shouldn’t second guess now. Hence, she came up with an excuse, "I just wanted to express my gratitude for the ride home and remind you to drive safely on the way back."

Jian Xuan reminded her, "I did all this as per young master Bo’s orders."

Xia Qingtian smiled faintly, responding, "But didn’t he specifically not want you to tell me about it? I respect his wishes, so consider me none the wiser."

With that, she shut the car door and watched as Jian Xuan drove off.

Only after Jian Xuan’s car disappeared from her line of sight, did she turn around and walk back to the villa.

Once back at the villa, she first went to check on An’an. Since An’an was still awake, she played with her until An’an fell asleep from exhaustion. Only then did she go back to her own room.
