Chapter 560: Chapter 560 Investigation Results_1
Xia Qingtian had been attending various social events daily, meeting all kinds of directors and producers.
However, the result was not very promising.
Those directors and producers were not interested in promoting newcomers, but only wanted to work with established actors. To have a newcomer join their crew, they needed Cheng Bingbing or Huo Qilin on board as well.
Xia Qingtian had immediately declined the offer without a second thought.
At the moment, all of Cheng Bingbing’s attention was entirely focused on Director Zhao’s film.
Director Zhao, a well-known director, hated conflicts or dramas the most. In order to avoid causing any disturbance during Bingbing’s filming process, there was no other production planned during the filming period for this movie.
The only work Bingbing did now and then was to take on some endorsements and commercials.
The schedules for movies and dramas only began after she completed her current movie.
Meanwhile, Huo Qilin only wanted to sing and dance on stage; acting did not interest him at all.
Xia Qingtian knew that if she asked, he might not refuse due to their friendship. However, she didn’t want to force him into doing something he didn’t like.
As a result, the situation was at a deadlock.
Xia Qingtian was on the lookout every day for opportunities for her artists.
However, she hadn’t found any so far.
At her wit’s end, a famous director suddenly appeared, planning a remake of a movie that holds many people’s childhood memories, so he was in need of some fresh faces.
He thought the three artists under Xia Qingtian’s management were suitable.
So he wanted Xia Qingtian to pack all three of her artists into his crew.
Xia Qingtian reviewed the roles and wages offered to her artists by the director, but she didn’t immediately agree. She just said she would think about it.
Huo Qilin, who just released an album and was in the process of creating his next, ironically was the most idle person in the company, apart from the three newcomers.
So he clearly saw how hard Xia Qingtian had been working to find opportunities for the newcomers.
At this moment, an opportunity had finally knocked on their door and considering the director was not unknown but had directed several classic dramas, Qilin didn’t understand why Xia Qingtian was hesitating.
Huo Qilin, perplexed, sought Xia Qingtian during his break and asked, "If a director is willing to give our artists a chance, why don’t you agree? Is it because the roles are not suitable or the offered wages are insufficient?"
Xia Qingtian shook her head, replying, "That’s not it. The wages he offered can be classed alongside third-tier actors. Even though the roles don’t have much screen time, they are very noteworthy."
"As long as their acting is not horrendously bad, they will definitely gain popularity after the drama is aired. They might even become breakout stars."
"If it’s such a good opportunity, why don’t you agree?" Initially, Huo Qilin had just intended to clear his doubts, but after hearing her answers, he was more confused.
Lost in thought, Xia Qingtian replied, "It’s because the terms are too advantageous. Judging by the roles and remuneration, I believe many people would be clambering over each other for this opportunity. Even if I initiate contact, I might not even clinch the deal."
"As for my artists, they were initially abandoned by other managers. I don’t believe they have any capital to attract the director to personally approach us with the script and invite us to join their production. If it were you or Bingbing, it might be possible. So I suspect there’s something amiss."
After hearing her analysis, Huo Qilin also realized the issue.
"Are you thinking someone is trying to harm you?" He speculated.
Xia Qingtian shook her head, "I don’t know. Let’s wait and see."
Huo Qilin, looking deeply into her eyes, vowed, "I won’t allow anyone to hurt you ever again."
Lost in her own thoughts, Xia Qingtian merely nodded her head casually without taking his words to heart.
To confirm her suspicions, she made a call to the director a couple of days later, stating that her artists did not wish to take the roles offered and wanted to play other roles instead.
If this had been any other regular director, especially those with a bit of fame and success, they would have berated her for being ungrateful, asked her to scram and even blacklist her.
Some directors with bigger tempers might even ridicule her amongst their peers, and warn them to avoid working with her and her artists in the future.
However, the director had agreed without any hesitation and even asked her what roles her artists wanted to play.
Xia Qingtian’s heart sank, but she managed to maintain a poker face and requested significant roles within the main cast for her artists.
As these were significant roles, it meant a lot of screen time and their performances would be pivotal.
Such roles would either go to those with good acting skills or a significant reputation.
However, Xia Qingtian’s artists had neither of these.
They had no reputation, nor did they possess exceptional acting skills.
Yet, after some hesitation, the director agreed. He even urged her, sounding almost fearful that she would back out, "Why don’t you find some time to bring your artists over for the contract signing?"
Xia Qingtian’s suspicions were confirmed.
This opportunity was suspiciously handed to her.
However, she was clueless whether the person orchestrating this behind the scenes had good or ill intentions.
She decided to maintain the status quo for now and observe the situation.
"I’ll consider it for now." After saying that, Xia Qingtian promptly hung up.
She had avoided the bait thus far. If there were indeed conspirers behind all this, they would probably make their move again.
Keeping this in mind, Xia Qingtian remained on high alert.
However, she was not the type to sit back idly. Despite her calm exterior, she privately approached a private investigator to look into the matter.
Nothing remains a secret in the entertainment industry.
Therefore, investigating any matter was not difficult at all.
Before the conspirer could make their next move, the private investigator had found the results.
When Xia Qingtian saw the results, she was shocked, despite having mentally prepared herself.
The investigator found that the director had visited the Bo Group before coming to find her.
He had visited her the very next day.
There must be some form of connection between these two events.
So, the director’s favor towards her artists was due to—
Bo Jingyan???
Thinking of Bo Jingyan again, Xia Qingtian felt momentarily stunned.
She had invested all her energy into her work recently, forcing herself not to think about Bo Jingyan at all. The method had worked effectively.
In these past few days, she genuinely didn’t think of Jingyan even once.
Xia Qingtian was unsure what Bo Jingyan meant by this.
The last time they met at the hospital, he was wholeheartedly defending Shi Qian. When she proposed the 30-day cool down period after which they would proceed with the divorce, he did not object.
He didn’t even come after her to explain. She thought that Jingyan was indirectly telling her through his actions that he had given up on their relationship.
