Xia Qingtian was overwhelmed by tremendous sorrow, indeed she lacked the extra strength to continue dealing with the matter at hand.

She nodded and said to Bo Jingyan, "Okay."

Once he had her consent, Bo Jingyan turned to Lucy and said, "Do you know the exact location where they fell into the sea? Take us there..."

"Okay," Lucy responded, nodding her head.

However, before leaving, she said, "Give me a moment to remove my makeup. Ahua liked me better without it."

Bo Jingyan didn’t object.

After all, they had already waited this long; a few minutes for her to remove her makeup wouldn’t make much of a difference.

He just needed to make sure that Lucy didn’t run off.

As Lucy was removing her makeup, Xia Qingtian managed to collect her emotions a bit and asked, "We already visited the seaside when we first arrived in B country and didn’t find any clues. Why waste more time going back there?"

He toyed with her fingers, explaining, "She said your father was chased and fell into the sea. As she knew how rough the sea was, that suggests she was there at the scene. Once we see if she takes us to the spot where your father’s body was found, we’ll know whether she’s lying."

Xia Qingtian nodded, her mind numbed by the immense grief she was facing.

She was lucky to have Bo Jingyan by her side.

Not long after, Lucy, devoid of her makeup, appeared.

On seeing Lucy’s face, Xia Qingtian widened her eyes as if she’d seen a ghost. "You, you..." she stammered.

She tried to say something, but felt as though something was stuck in her throat and she couldn’t get her words out. She merely stared at Lucy.

Lucy touched her own face, puzzled, and said, "Is there something strange about my face? Ahua had the same reaction when he saw me without makeup. I now truly believe that you are his daughter."

Xia Qingtian finally snapped back to reality, shook her head and said complicatedly, "It’s nothing, let’s go."

Saying this, she took the lead and left the room.

Seeing her unusual demeanor, Bo Jingyan asked, "What’s wrong?"

Xia Qingtian remained silent for a while, then whispered, "I think Lucy really was my father’s girlfriend. She isn’t lying."

"How did you all of a sudden become so certain?" Bo Jingyan cast her a puzzled look.

"Because..." Xia Qingtian hesitated, turning around involuntarily to look at Lucy, "She looks a lot like my mother."

Therefore, Xia Guohua was charmed by her at the first sight.

Bo Jingyan finally appeared to have an ’aha’ moment upon hearing this.

During their conversation, they had already reached the downstairs.

Bo Jingyan asked Lucy to sit in the passenger seat to guide their way.

Lucy had no objections.

As the car journey got underway, the roadside scenery grew more familiar, and eventually, they arrived at the same sea area which Xia Qingtian and Bo Jingyan had previously visited.

Despite her mental preparedness, Xia Qingtian still felt a wrenching pain inside.

"Stop the car..." Lucy said. Once the vehicle had halted, she gazed at the sea sorrowfully, recounting, "People intended to harm Ahua. Fearing I’d get hurt, he hid me. Then he and his assistant tried to draw the people away."

"Feeling uneasy, I followed them secretly when they weren’t looking, unsuspectingly watching Ahua and his assistant, along with the car, plunge into the sea."

She choked up as she spoke.

Xia Qingtian’s eyes reddened at her words.

Lucy later kept muttering to herself, disclosing more details.

After listening, Xia Qingtian understood everything. It turned out that Xia Guohua had received a small card, and for some reason, he called the number on it.

Lucy was the one who had picked up.

In the beginning, Xia Guohua merely had Lucy accompany him for drinks, he was rather cold to her. But everything changed when Lucy and another girl fought over a client, and the girl splashed makeup remover onto Lucy’s face out of resentment.

With no choice, Lucy had to remove her makeup in the bathroom. She thought she had lost Xia Guohua’s business and was about to inform him before she left. However, when Xia Guohua saw her bare face, his attitude towards her underwent a 180-degree change.

Xia Guohua started to see her every day, treating her well, being generous, spending lots of money on her, even promising to take her back to his home country and pretect her for the rest of his life.

But then, Xia Guohua had an accident.

Xia Qingtian quietly listened without uttering a word.

After Lucy finished reminiscing, they took her back.

When parting ways, thinking of Xia Guohua regarding Lucy as his girlfriend, Xia Qingtian pondered for a bit and then handed her all the local currency she had.

Despite being poor, Lucy refused the money.

"Indeed, my initial intention was for Ahua’s money, but he treated me so well later that I genuinely fell for him." She laughed bitterly, "Although he never had a clue that you were his daughter, until his last breath, I can’t take your money."

Seeing Lucy’s resolve, Xia Qingtian didn’t insist. She just left her own phone number with Lucy, saying that if she ever encountered any trouble she could not handle, she could call her for help.

"Take care." After saying this, she left with Bo Jingyan.

On the way back, Xia Qingtian remained silent.

Knowing that she probably wasn’t in the mood for a chat, Bo Jingyan didn’t impede on her silence.

Soon, they returned to the hotel.

Striving to act unaffected, Xia Qingtian said, "I’m a bit tired and would like to rest."

With that said, she left for her room without waiting for Bo Jingyan’s reply.

Bo Jingyan watched her retreating figure, pondering.

Xia Qingtian stayed in her room the whole day, missing both lunch and dinner. Bo Jingyan went in to check on her midway and found her lying on the bed, apparently sleeping.

If her eyelashes hadn’t been trembling so intensely, Bo Jingyan might have believed she was truly asleep.

He knew Lucy’s words had hit Xia Qingtian hard. Even though Xia Guohua’s body hadn’t been found yet, his chances of being alive were already slim.

He knew Xia Qingtian wasn’t really sleeping. She was just pretending, but he did not expose her.

Bo Jingyan tucked her into the blanket and left the room.

But when the sound of the closing door reached her ears, Xia Qingtian, who had been pretending to be asleep, slowly opened her eyes, and the tears began to drop.

After a while, the room door was opened again.

Startled, Xia Qingtian quickly covered herself with the blanket, frantically wiping the tears from her face and pretending to be asleep.
