Chapter 493: Chapter 493: Got a Clue_1

Facing such a Xia Qingtian, Bo Jingyan’s lips curled up, revealing a slight smile of delight.

"Are you worried about me?" he asked in a good mood.

Xia Qingtian was stunned for a moment. By the time she regained her senses, she found herself speechless. Even at such a time, he still had the mood to joke around.

"No!" She denied impatiently, "I’m just worried that if something happens to you, it will affect our next move. After all, I still don’t know where you are taking me, where I might find clues to my father’s whereabouts. I need you to take me there."

Bo Jingyan shook his head somewhat helplessly.

Well, she’s become smart now, not so easy to trick anymore.

He looped the conversation back around, saying, "Don’t worry, I can’t distinguish flavors. For me, it doesn’t matter whether food is hot or cold."

Having said this, he prepared to push away Xia Qingtian’s hand and continue eating.

Xia Qingtian knew he had a point, but seeing him eating the cooled-off dishes was still uncomfortable for her. Realizing she couldn’t persuade him, she bluntly called over the waiter.

She had the waiter heat up the food and bring it back.

The service at this hotel was up to the mark. Upon hearing the customer’s request, they immediately set about it so quickly that Bo Jingyan had no time to object.

By the time he reacted, the platter was already empty.

Xia Qingtian crossed her arms and cast him a slightly triumphant glance, as if to tell him that she had won this round.

Bo Jingyan didn’t dampen the mood, and graciously gave her a thumbs-up.

Before long, the reheated dishes were brought back to the dining table.

Bo Jingyan finished all the remaining food, and finally, they set off.

All along the way, Xia Qingtian never asked Bo Jingyan where they were heading.

In no time, they arrived.

"Get out." After stopping the car, Bo Jingyan opened the passenger-side door for Xia Qingtian.

Instead of getting out, Xia Qingtian stretched her neck to look around.

She found that Bo Jingyan had brought her to a hotel.

A touch of confusion flitted in her eyes before she obediently got out of the car. She stood next to Bo Jingyan and asked uncertainly, "Why did you bring me to a hotel? Was there something wrong with the previous hotel?"

Bo Jingyan casually shut the car door.

He held Xia Qingtian’s hand, walking towards the hotel lobby while explaining, "This is the hotel where your father stayed before he disappeared. His information had been blocked by someone and it wasn’t until today that I was able to break through the layers of obstacles and find out about it."

"Moreover, the hotel staff have been silenced. It took a great deal of effort to pry the truth out of one of them, who has agreed to cooperate with us."

Upon hearing this, Xia Qingtian’s heart began to beat rapidly.

She had the feeling that this time they might actually find useful clues. She had assumed that it would take a lot of time and energy, and that they would need to search slowly before they could make any progress.

Unexpectedly, the process was going much smoother than she had imagined.

Of course, she was not going to forget that all of this was thanks to Bo Jingyan. If she had been alone, being new to the area, she had no idea how long it would take to find these clues.

With these thoughts in mind, she held Bo Jingyan’s hand a little tighter.

Bo Jingyan noticed the change and thought she was scared. He held her hand tighter in return, reassuring her, "Don’t be afraid, I’m here, no one can hurt you."

Seeing his misunderstanding, Xia Qingtian chose not to clarify.

She had no doubt about the truth of Bo Jingyan’s words.

While they were talking, they had already entered the hotel lobby. The hotel staff member, whose silence Bo Jingyan had managed to break, walked straight towards them.

It turned out that the hotel staff was actually the lobby manager.

The manager made a covert signal to them and then carried on pretending not to know them. He greeted them casually, playing the part of a regular employee attending to regular customers.

Bo Jingyan booked a room. He and Xia Qingtian went upstairs, then called room service for a bottle of expensive wine to be delivered to their room.

He believed that soon, under the pretext of delivering wine, the lobby manager would come to see them.

As expected, within moments, the doorbell rang. The lobby manager came with the wine and, like a thief, made sure no one had followed him before he quickly closed the door.

"What do you want to know? I’ll tell you everything," he asked, wiping cold sweat from his brow.

Bo Jingyan took out a picture of Xia Guohua and asked, "Do you remember this man?"

Upon seeing the photo, the lobby manager immediately nodded, "Yes."

Bo Jingyan cocked an eyebrow in surprise, "Why do you remember so clearly? This hotel is one of the largest in B Country, and sees a large turnover of guests every day. How could you have such a clear memory of him?"

The lobby manager answered, "Because this guest was very generous, and very odd. He had only booked a room for three days, intending to leave B Country afterwards—he had even arranged for a car from the hotel to take him to the airport. But for some reason, he suddenly changed his mind."

"Not only did he not rush to leave, but he also extended his stay for another six months. However, every night he would go out and wouldn’t return to the hotel until the early hours of the morning, reeking of alcohol. Whenever he encountered hotel staff, he would tip generously and seemed to be in a good mood."

"This lasted for about a week, and then the gentleman never returned. We didn’t think much of it at first as we assumed he had gone out and would come back soon, considering that his room was not yet checked out. After all, staying at our hotel comes at a substantial cost, and half a year of room charges is no small amount."

"However, after he disappeared for more than a week, we were silenced. We were no longer allowed to mention the gentleman."

Having heard his words, Xia Qingtian looked at Bo Jingyan, "My father must have encountered something that made him decide to extend his stay in B Country."

"Hmm," Bo Jingyan nodded.

Immediately afterward, he continued questioning the lobby manager, "Do you know where he went drinking every night?"

"I don’t know," the lobby manager shook his head, "Company policy forbids us from prying into the guest’s privacy."

On hearing this, Xia Qingtian couldn’t help feeling disappointed.

She thought the lobby manager would have known where Xia Guohua frequented every night. She had an intuition that that place was extremely important, and if they could locate it, they might be able to get a significant lead on Xia Guohua’s whereabouts.

Regrettably, although there had been progress, it was not as smooth as she had hoped.
