Chapter 442: Chapter 442 - A Change of Situation_1

Bo Jingyan was gradually advancing towards Shi Qian, an icy look in his eyes.

"Did you know?" he spoke, his tone laced with a hint of bone-chilling coldness. "I despise being lied to the most. Do you know what happens to those who dare to deceive me?"

Shi Qian’s lips trembled slightly. She was terrified.

She wanted to explain, but she found herself at a loss for words. She was rendered breathless, panicking under the palpable chill emanating from Bo Jingyan’s body. She was frightened and began retreating step by step.

In the end, she tripped over a flower pot, landing haphazardly amidst the flowers.

Yet Bo Jingyan still had no plans to let her go.

"Bo Mother..." Shi Qian’s voice held a hint of crying, tremblingly calling Bo’s mother.

Bo’s mother frowned, but she still stepped forward to block Bo Jingyan, protecting Shi Qian behind her.

"Enough." she said with some helplessness, "Let’s put an end to this."

Bo Jingyan’s face remained stoic. "Like I said, I hate being lied to. Since Shi Qian dared to do it, she must pay the price!"

"Bo Mother, I’m scared." Shi Qian clenched the clothes of Bo’s mother in her weak state.

Bo’s mother patted Shi Qian’s hand to reassure her, holding her protectively, "If you want those who deceive you to pay the price, let me pay it then."

Having said that, she didn’t wait for Bo Jingyan’s query and continued talking.

"It was me who told Qianqian to do whatever it takes to bring you back. She didn’t want to let me down, so she resorted to such measures." Bo’s mother argued, looking right at Bo Jingyan. "She was just obeying my orders, so I am the real culprit."

"Whatever price you want her to pay, let me pay it instead."

Seeing her determination to protect Shi Qian, Bo Jingyan’s face turned even darker.

He could confront anyone in the world, except Bo’s mother.

Bo’s mother was not someone he dared to fight or scold.

He took two steps backwards, distancing himself from both Bo’s mother and Shi Qian, "We’ll let it slide this time. But if anything like this happens again, regardless of whose dignity, I won’t be so lenient. Look out for yourself."

He didn’t specify who he was speaking to - whether to Bo’s mother or Shi Qian.

Having left that warning, he made his exit.

It was only after Bo Jingyan left that Shi Qian fully relaxed, looking at Bo’s mother who was standing in front of her, she called out, "Bo Mother..."

Bo’s mother pushed her hand away, "Qianqian, the last time you took Jingyan’s phone, I told you it was the last time. Why did you..."

Ultimately, her gaze towards Shi Qian was filled with nothing but disappointment.

Shi Qian was in a panic.

Now that Bo Jingyan and Xia Qingtian are divorced, success was only a step away. She couldn’t give up halfway. She couldn’t afford to lose the support of Bo’s mother.

She immediately kneeled on the ground, wrapping her arms around Bo’s mother’s legs, crying, "Bo Mother, I know I was wrong..."

Crying, she kept confessing her mistakes to Bo’s mother.

Even though Bo’s mother could see through her attempt to elicit sympathy, she cared about Shi Qian as if she were her own daughter, thus she couldn’t help but soften in the end and chose to forgive her.

...

And thus, Xia Qingtian divorced Bo Jingyan.

She felt as if all the vitality had been drained from her. The impact the divorce had on her was far more profound and lingering than she had ever imagined.

She thought it was better to endure short, sharp pain than long-term suffering.

However, she hadn’t anticipated that it would turn into prolonged, unending bouts of pain.

Xia Qingtian didn’t want to allow herself to stop or to think about Bo Jingyan. She didn’t want to immerse herself in the seemingly endless pain, so she threw herself completely into her work.

She quickly became a workaholic in the company.

Not only did she secure numerous lucrative deals for Cheng Bingbing and Huo Qilin, but she also obtained plenty of resources for some of the company’s less accomplished artists.

Both Huo Qilin and Cheng Bingbing were worried about her, advising her to rest more, but she rejects their advice.

She didn’t want to stop.

Just when everyone was at a loss about what to do, she received a phone call.

Then, she suddenly stopped and took a week off.

Huo Qilin and Cheng Bingbing, who were previously advising her to rest, were now extremely concerned when they saw her halt. They cautiously asked what she was going to do during her two-day break.

Xia Qingtian was warmed by their concern for her.

She wasn’t an unreasonable person, so she didn’t hide anything. She told them about her father, Xia Guohua’s decision to go overseas for medical treatment. Now that he was fully recovered, he planned to come back, which was the good news she shared.

She took leave so she could pick him up from the airport and then spend some quality time with her father.

Only when Cheng Bingbing and Huo Qilin heard this, did they finally let their worries rest.

About a week later, they reached the day when Xia Guohua said he would return over the phone.

Xia Qingtian, with An’an in tow, arrived at the airport early to pick up her father.

After waiting for a while at the airport, the flight Xia Guohua told her over the phone had landed.

Xia Qingtian immediately took An’an from the babysitter and held her in her arms.

With one arm holding An’an and the other hand grasping his little hand, she cheerfully said, "An’an, grandpa will be here soon. Remember to wave to him."

While she was saying this, she held An’an’s small hand and made a waving motion, just like a lucky cat.

The good news of Xia Guohua’s recovery, for the time being, blew away the cloud hanging over Xia Qingtian’s heart due to her divorce with Bo Jingyan.

But after waiting for a while, Xia Guohua still hadn’t appear, and An’an’s arm began to feel sore from holding. Xia Qingtian instantly felt something was off.

She took out her phone and called Xia Guohua, only to find that his phone was off.

Could it be that he forgot to turn his phone back on after landing the plane, as it was previously turned off for the flight?

Thinking this, Xia Qingtian could only wait patiently.

She waited for a long time. Long enough to the point where An’an, initially excited about the new environment, got bored and eventually fell asleep in her arms.

Xia Qingtian felt that waiting like this was not a solution.

After handing An’an to the babysitter, she asked an airlines employee to check the flight information.

She found that Xia Guohua indeed had a ticket for the flight that had just landed, but he didn’t board the plane.

He didn’t board the plane?

How could this happen?

Xia Qingtian was puzzled.

Xia Guohua was not the type to be uncommunicative. Even if there were other reasons which made him unable to board the flight, or if he decided to stay abroad and not return to the country for the time being, he should have told her.

Rather than being off the grid now, with his phone turned off and unable to contact him like this.
