Chapter 438: Chapter 438 As You Wish_1

The matter of divorce had been settled as lightly as a feather.

Seeing that Xia Qingtian had nothing left to say, Bo Jingyan left with a gloomly look on his face.

Not long after he left, the sound of rain smacking against the floor and windows echoed from outside.

It was raining again.

Xia Qingtian returned to her room with a hollow look.

She had mentally prepared herself for everything, and her rational mind told her that divorcing now was the best choice. If they continued to delay, she and Bo Jingyan would just end up loathing each other.

It was a sad thing for two people who once loved each other so much to reach this point.

She’d rather divorce now while she could still hold on to some fond memories.

Xia Qingtian sought to comfort herself, but a sense of unease still welled up within her.

As she was immersed in her own thoughts, suddenly...

A burst of thunder echoed in her ears.

Despite it being daytime, the weather outside had turned dark, signaling the onset of a severe rainstorm, likely accompanied by thunder and lightning.

The thunder gave Xia Qingtian a great fright, making her momentarily forget about her impending divorce from Bo Jingyan.

Due to some experiences in her childhood, she was genuinely terrified of thunder and lightning.

She anxiously shut all the doors and windows, hoping to block out the loud thunderclaps.

Unfortunately, all her efforts were in vain.

As she sat biting her nails anxiously, her phone suddenly rang. Checking the screen, she found it was Huo Qilin calling.

Fearing it might be something important, she ignored her discomfort and picked up the call.

"What’s up? Is there a problem?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly despite her best efforts to control it.

Huo Qilin said, "I have finished all the tracks for my second album. I’m not sure if they sound good, so I want you to listen to them from the perspective of an average fan and decide if they’re up to standard."

"I have promised the record company to deliver all the songs tomorrow. If any of them don’t meet the standards, you can tell me straight away, so I can rewrite it overnight."

"Okay," Xia Qingtian replied. Hearing that it was work-related, she pulled herself together despite not being in the mood to listen to music at the moment.

The thunderstorm outside was raging, and she was worried she might not hear clearly and hamper Huo Qilin’s work.

So she went to the media room and connected her phone to the speaker, ensuring his songs wouldn’t be drowned out by the roar of the storm.

Once Xia Qingtian had everything set up, Huo Qilin began on the other end, playing and singing with his guitar.

It was undeniable that Huo Qilin was incredibly talented.

It had been less than a month since he’d announced his second album, and yet he had already completed all the songs, which sounded wonderful.

The songs had depth, and their melodies were catchy and memorable.

At first, Xia Qingtian forced herself to focus on Huo Qilin’s singing, trying her best to ignore the thunderstorm outside.

Gradually, she became completely engrossed in the music.

She felt like she wasn’t critiquing the songs but rather attending an excellent concert.

By then, she had completely forgotten about the frightening thunder and lightning.

...

On the other side.

Bo Jingyan left with a gloomy look on his face, feeling awful.

He had only driven halfway when it suddenly started raining, accompanied by deafening thunder.

There had been many rainy days lately.

So, rain was a common occurrence.

However, upon hearing the almost deafening thunder, Bo Jingyan felt a surge of unease, and the image of Xia Qingtian flashed through his mind.

He recalled the period when he lost his memory and moved back home.

It was a thunderstorm then too, and Xia Qingtian had run to his room, scared stiff, saying that she was frightened of thunder. She even had used a wish to stay in his room.

It was thundering again today, persistently. She must have been terrified.

Thinking of Xia Qingtian’s pale, trembling face brought on by the fear of thunder, Bo Jingyan felt his heart contract a little.

When he came back to his senses, he realized he was driving back to the villa.

Thinking about Xia Qingtian wanting to divorce him for Huo Qilin made his expression turn darker. He pounded his fist on the steering wheel in anger.

"You want to divorce me for another man, you deserve to be scared," Bo Jingyan sneered, intending to drive off and leave the ungrateful woman to her fate.

However, his rational mind couldn’t control his body.

His reason told him to ignore Xia Qingtian, but his body obediently turned off the engine, got out of the car, and ran back to the villa through the heavy rain.

He tried to convince himself.

He didn’t come back because he was worried about Xia Qingtian getting hurt. He just wanted to make sure she would be able to go to the civil affairs bureau tomorrow to get their marriage license.

Thinking this way, Bo Jingyan felt somewhat justified.

He first went to Xia Qingtian’s room but found it empty.

He was slightly taken aback. Wasn’t that woman scared of thunder and lightning? The outside was filled with thunder and lightning, repeatedly splitting the dark sky.

Where could Xia Qingtian have gone?

Bo Jingyan’s heart clenched involuntarily. He immediately found the housekeepers in the villa and asked them about Xia Qingtian’s whereabouts.

Soon, he learned that Xia Qingtian was in the media room.

He immediately hurried over, pushed open the door of the room, intending to accompany her through the storm.

But when Bo Jingyan opened the door and saw Xia Qingtian, he felt somewhat relieved. She didn’t seem scared but rather appeared to be attentively listening to something.

What mattered was that she wasn’t frightened!

Subconsciously, he didn’t want Xia Qingtian to suffer.

Bo Jingyan was about to step forward and accompany her, "Xia..."

But before he could act, he heard a familiar male voice from inside the room.

"Qingtian, what do you think of the songs I just sang? Will the fans who like my music be satisfied?"

Bo Jingyan instantly recognized it as Huo Qilin’s voice!

Xia Qingtian, completely immersed in Huo Qilin’s wonderful songs, had forgotten about the frightening thunder and lightning, and hadn’t noticed Bo Jingyan’s return and the door opening behind her.

The slight unease hidden in Huo Qilin’s words left her utterly perplexed.
