Chapter 436: Chapter 436 Get out of my sight_1
Xia Qingtian took a deep breath, pulled out her phone, and dialed Bo Jingyan’s number.
She wasn’t sure, however, if Bo Jingyan would ignore her call like he had before.
Just as she was lost in thought, surprisingly, the call connected almost instantly after it rang.
"Hello..." Bo Jingyan’s deep voice sounded on the other end.
Hearing his voice, Xia Qingtian was taken aback for a moment before returning to her senses.
"Are you free today?" she asked, her voice soft after licking her lips, "I have something important to discuss with you. If you’re available, could you come home?"
"Alright," Bo Jingyan agreed, "I’ll be back soon."
Oddly, Xia Qingtian sensed a hint of excitement in his tone, as if he had been waiting for her call, waiting for her to call him home.
But again, she dismissed this thought after recalling the sight she had witnessed at the Bo Group earlier that day.
Another factor that quickly faded her fleeting thoughts was the words of Bo’s mother on the reality show; she reminded herself not to overthink things and harbor any emotional sentiments.
"I’ll wait for you." With these words, Xia Qingtian hung up the phone.
She then settled down, waiting for Bo Jingyan to return.
...
On the other hand.
Bo Jingyan pocketed his disconnected phone and didn’t leave immediately; instead, he turned to his mother and Shi Qian.
Hiding the gentleness that had unwittingly surfaced in his eyes upon receiving Xia Qingtian’s call, he warned them with a hint of coldness in his tone, "Mother, for the last time, I don’t like Shi Qian, and I won’t marry her."
"This time, I’m giving you face, as well as taking into account her past act of saving you once. I won’t say anything to the media, but there won’t be a second time."
"Is this how you speak to your own mother?" Bo’s mother’s face twitched, her complexion turning ugly.
After agreeing with Shi Qian, there is no way she would go back on her word.
So, during the variety show, she deliberately announced on camera that she considered Shi Qian her daughter-in-law, and even mentioned about their upcoming engagement.
In utter shock, Bo Jingyan immediately interrogated her upon hearing this news.
Moreover, he insisted that the public relations department of the Bo Group clarify this issue, and announce publicly that he was already married.
However, his mother stubbornly refused, warning Bo Jingyan that such a move would make Shi Qian the butt of jokes, shamed for attempting to be a homewrecker for a wealthier life.
If she failed to look after Shi Qian, who, together with her mother, had once saved her life, she’d never be able to rest in peace even in death.
On the other hand, she herself would also become the laughing stock of the upper-class society and netizens, being rejected so ruthlessly by her own son, thus causing her great embarrassment.
Despite being entangled in such an intricate situation, Bo Jingyan did not compromise.
In the end, his mother was so furious that she fell sick.
The doctor strictly instructed Bo Jingyan to not stimulate his mother, and maintain her emotional stability to improve her physical health. Another burst of emotional agitation could relapse her leukemia.
With this revelation, Bo Jingyan finally chose not to clarify the situation, but he also categorically refused to admit to the baseless engagement publicly.
"What kind of attitude do you expect me to have?" Bo Jingyan retaliated coldly, "Do you want me to cheat on my wife?"
Hearing the words ’cheating on his wife’, something seemed to have stirred up in Bo’s mother. Her emotional state, which was slowly stabilizing, suddenly collapsed again.
"Shut up..." she took a vase from the side and hurled it toward Bo Jingyan.
Bo Jingyan stood still, letting the vase directly hit his forehead before it rolled onto the floor, making a rolling sound.
A streak of warm blood instantly welled up from his forehead, trickling down his brow bone.
Seeing the blood on his face, Bo’s mother’s fingers twitched involuntarily with regret.
A wave of remorse surged over her.
She opened her mouth, trying to say something to redeem herself but let the worry about her own face stop her words from coming.
"Ah, Brother Jingyan, you’re bleeding..." Shi Qian cried out without any hesitation.
She immediately reached out with a tissue, "Let me wipe the blood off your face. Don’t move."
"No need," Bo Jingyan said, moving her hand aside.
Next, he stared emotionless at Bo’s mother, "Are you satisfied now?"
Bo’s mother saw his indifference and immediately, the face of another man flashed in her mind.
She recalled the face that once looked at her tenderly, slowly transforming into the same emotionless mask.
"Get out, get out of my sight..." she couldn’t hold back any longer, screaming at him.
"What I just said is my final word. If there is a next time, I won’t be considering anyone’s face." After leaving her with this, Bo Jingyan left.
Shi Qian watched his retreating back, a hint of disappointment flashing across her eyes, but she didn’t chase after him.
Brother Jingyan didn’t like her yet, and chasing him would only make a fool of herself.
So, for now, her biggest support was still Bo’s mother.
With that thought, Shi Qian redirected her gaze and quickly moved to Bo’s mother’s side.
Bo’s mother was still seething with anger, her chest rising and falling with rapidity. Shi Qian reached out her hand and gently rubbed her chest, "Mother Bo, don’t be angry. Anger is bad for your health."
"Qianqian, you don’t understand..." Bo’s mother’s voice trembled severely, even choked up a little, "Jingyan, the words he just said, were like pouring salt into my wounds."
"Pouring salt into her wounds?" Shi Qian was confused.
What wound was Bo’s mother talking about?
She was really furious, and said, "Jingyan’s father, he..."
She stopped abruptly midway, the realization hitting her.
"What about uncle?" Shi Qian, oblivious to her true thoughts, instinctively asked.
"Nothing."
Bo’s mother forced herself to calm down, reverting back to her usual dignified and cold demeanor, as if the close-to-collapse woman from before wasn’t her at all.
She took out a handkerchief, wiped the tears about to spill from the corner of her eyes, and said, "I’m feeling a bit tired, I want to rest for a while."
After that, without paying any attention to Shi Qian, she turned around and left for her room.
Shi Qian stood her ground, thinking about her sudden outburst earlier, a thoughtful look in her eyes.
...
Meanwhile.
Bo Jingyan left his ancestral home and immediately drove to meet Xia Qingtian.
However, while waiting for the traffic light, he casually looked in the rearview mirror and saw his reflection. On seeing his own face, he couldn’t help but wrinkle his brows.
