What Xia Qingtian didn’t tell the masked man was that as soon as she sensed danger and ran for safety, she had already dialed Bo Jingyan’s number via the emergency dial button on her phone watch.

So even though Bo Jingyan hadn’t arrived yet, he was already aware that she was in danger.

Without wasting any time, he sprung into action.

Despite her repeated assurances that she was unhurt, Bo Jingyan insisted on carrying her to the hospital for a check-up.

Xia Qingtian, unable to persuade him otherwise, decided to go along with him.

They got to the hospital pretty fast.

Bo Jingyan, who was chatting with Jian Xuan, rushed over to her side as soon as he heard her cry, held her hand and asked, "What happened?"

Xia Qingtian wiped the cold sweat from her forehead and shook her head, "Nothing, just a nightmare."

She dreamt of the incident from last night, and in her dream, Bo Jingyan didn’t come to her rescue. It scared her awake.

Bo Jingyan thought a bit and realized what her dream must have been.

"It’s okay, it’s all over. I won’t let you face any danger in the future", he reassured her as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders.

Xia Qingtian couldn’t help but smile, "Hmm, I trust you."

She had never doubted this point.

She composed herself and drew out of Bo Jingyan’s embrace and asked Jian Xuan who was standing respectfully by, "Have we found any leads on last night’s incident?"

She remembered that Bo Jingyan had left Jian Xuan behind to check for clues when they left the scene last night.

Jian Xuan glanced at Bo Jingyan instinctively.

"Qingtian is my wife. There is nothing that cannot be said in front of her." Bo Jingyan confessed openly, nodding at Jian Xuan.

Jian Xuan then responded, "The two men from last night were exceedingly cautious. We did not find anything in the car, not even fingerprints."

Hearing this, Xia Qingtian felt her heart sink.

Jian Xuan continued saying, "But we found your bag in their car. Its contents were scattered around and the bag was flipped over. They were presumably searching for something."

"Searching for something?" Xia Qingtian lifted her head, "What were they looking for?"

What could she possibly have that someone would be desperate enough to plan such a large-scale operation?

"Don’t know." Jian Xuan shook his head, "My assumption that they were looking for something is merely logical guesswork based on the available evidence. It might not necessarily be accurate."

Xia Qingtian seemed deep in thought.

Having completed his report, Bo Jingyan waved Jian Xuan off saying, "Alright, you go ahead and continue your investigation."

Jian Xuan nodded and left the room.

"What’re you thinking?" Bo Jingyan asked her seeing her lose herself in her thoughts.

Xia Qingtian snapped out of her reverie and confessed, "Nothing, I was just wondering who might want to kill me."

Bo Jingyan poured her a cup of warm water, "Did you figure out who it might be?"

"I suspect Shi Qian." Xia Qingtian took a sip of water then candidly shared her inner thoughts.

"Why?" Bo Jingyan raised an eyebrow.

Adjusting her posture, Xia Qingtian reasoned, "Because I generally get along well with others and only have one conflict, with Shi Qian."

"When I accompanied Cheng Bingbing to the film set yesterday, I ran into Shi Qian and even made fun of her. I wonder if she harbors a grudge against me."

Moreover, Shi Qian lusts after Bo Jingyan. If I died, with Bo’s mother’s support, there’s a chance she might replace me.

Any way you look at it, Shi Qian had the right motive to murder.

The more Xia Qingtian thought about it, the more she felt it was Shi Qian’s doing.

She looked at Bo Jingyan seeking his agreement, "Do you think what I said makes sense?"

"Why?" Xia Qingtian was confused.

Bo Jingyan held her hand, caressing it gently, and started to reason, "Because the one who tried to kill you this time was extremely skilled and professional, doesn’t resemble common street thugs or lost souls."

"That man from yesterday night resembles organized and professionally trained hitman." Bo Jingyan explained slowly, "I have investigated Shi Qian before, her background is very simple, there’s no way she could have access to such a professional hitman."
