Chapter 378: Chapter 378 Someone Wants to Kill Her_1
Xia Qingtian had anticipated this outcome long ago, so she was not disappointed.
She dared not anger the man, so she honestly answered his question, "Because if the person in the car was really Bo Jingyan, he wouldn’t just sit in the car, waiting for me to get in."
Bo Jingyan would certainly get out of the car right away, possessively grab her hand, then drag her into the car and fiercely kiss her on the lips.
Upon hearing this, the man gave a thoughtful smile.
"So that’s how it is." His tone was full of amazement. "I didn’t expect you to be this clever. I like clever people. Had the others not offered so much, I might have a hard time killing you."
When Xia Qingtian heard this, she felt as if she had fallen into an ice cave.
Just now, she was harboring some hope that the man kidnapped her for money.
But at this moment, she could no longer deceive herself. He’s planning to—
kill her!!!
Xia Qingtian immediately began trying harder to loosen the ropes binding her.
The man glanced at her, advising, "Don’t waste your effort. The ropes binding you are special. The more you struggle, the tighter they will bind."
Sure enough, Xia Qingtian felt the ropes tightening around her, making her hands feel as if they were about to break.
She dared not struggle anymore and could only think of ways to persuade him to change his mind.
She remembered something the man had revealed in his words: he wanted to kill her because someone had given him too much.
Xia Qingtian seized the opportunity right away and began bargaining, "You want to kill me because someone bribed you. Since you’re just after money, I’ll double whatever price they put on my life, as long as you let me go."
"No can do. We have our credibility." The man ruthlessly refused.
Xia Qingtian’s heart sank instantly.
Is she going to die just like this?
Just when Xia Qingtian was on the verge of despair, suddenly...
A "screech" sound.
The car’s tires grinding against the ground produced a harsh noise.
Her body, due to inertia, violently smashed into the front seat, leaving her disoriented.
Before she could even react to what was happening, she heard the driver saying with a little panic, "Oh no, the bridge ahead is blocked."
The man fell silent for a few seconds before decisive instructing, "Turn around."
The driver was about to do so immediately.
However, just as the car started to turn around, several cars from behind blocked all their routes. Their car was trapped on the bridge with no possibility of escape.
At this point, Xia Qingtian had also recovered and looked outside.
She saw a man in a black coat getting out of one of the cars. He emanated an aura of authority and power, like that of a king.
Upon recognizing the man’s face, Xia Qingtian’s eyes brightened instantly.
It’s Bo Jingyan!
Xia Qingtian suddenly felt that her anxious heart had found its harbor. Even though there was still a man who wanted to take her life beside her, she felt immensely secure.
"Get out!" The utter coldness in Bo Jingyan’s words was utmost.
"Tsk, what a nuisance." The man next to her sounded annoyed, "I thought this mission would be easy."
He didn’t expect to face setbacks one after another.
The man was helpless. Now that he was surrounded, he had no choice but to get out of the car.
Dragging Xia Qingtian along, he got off the car.
Bo Jingyan immediately turned his gaze to Xia Qingtian. A flicker of gentleness passed through his deep eyes, "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
Xia Qingtian shook her head, "No."
Even though the man holding her was set on killing her, he had done nothing else to harm her apart from tying her up.
Satisfied with her reply, Bo Jingyan heaved a sigh of relief.
He glared at the masked man holding Xia Qingtian, threatening, "Let her go, and I’ll spare your life."
The man didn’t panic at all. Pulling Xia Qingtian towards the edge of the bridge.
He glanced down at the swift-flowing river beneath the bridge.
A cunning look flashed in his narrow fox eyes, and then he nodded in agreement, "Okay, I admit defeat this time. I lost to you. Here is the girl."
As he said this, he raised his hand, seemingly about to push Xia Qingtian towards Bo Jingyan.
Before Xia Qingtian could breathe a sigh of relief, a flash of silver light darted across her eyes. Looking closely, she realised it was a dagger.
At this moment, the dagger was rapidly slashing towards her neck.
A chill ran down her spine. She did not expect the man to have no intentions to let her go. He agreed simply to put them off guard.
Xia Qingtian immediately shut her eyes tightly in fear, thinking she was certain to die.
However, the anticipated pain never came. Instead, a loud gunshot nearly deafened her.
Then she felt the man holding her suddenly let go.
Looking back unconsciously, she saw a bright flower-like pattern appear on the man’s chest.
Staring incredulously at his chest, the man said with frustration, "Isn’t A City supposed to regulate firearms? Those information-gathering bastards—I won’t let them go even if I become a ghost!"
Afterward, his body lost balance and with a ’splash’, he fell from the bridge into the river.
Not far away, Bo Jingyan was holding a smoking gun.
It was he who had just shot the masked man.
The masked man’s promise to let Xia Qingtian go was an attempt to make Bo Jingyan let his guard down, but it failed.
Bo Jingyan never believed him, but was always on guard.
As soon as the masked man drew his knife to attack Xia Qingtian, Bo Jingyan had quickly fired, hitting the man’s chest.
The driver, seeing the masked man fall into the river, instantly made a decision. Before Bo Jingyan took action against him, he quickly jumped into the river.
Jian Xuan attempted to instruct his men to pursue, but was intercepted by Bo Jingyan, "There’s no need for chase now. The current is strong. The likelihood of survival after jumping in is low."
Bo Jingyan put away his gun and quickly walked over to Xia Qingtian.
He untied the ropes binding Xia Qingtian’s hands and feet, pulling her into his embrace, "Xia Qingtian, don’t be scared. It’s over. I won’t let anyone hurt you."
Leaning against his warm and solid chest, she felt a sense of security she had never experienced before.
"I know..." She nodded heavily, "I knew you would surely come to save me."
